[Bug 1833057] Re: proprietary nvidia drivers become unusable after an S3

2019-06-17 Thread spear
** Tags added: nvidia s3

** Description changed:

I you watch a movie that uses CUDA/VDPAU (nvdec for mpv, vdpau for VLC)
decoding with {410,415,418,430} and pause the movie and do a S3 (suspend to
RAM) ... everything that needs CUDA and GPU acceleration stop working. will
update with appropriate dmesg output.
Maybe VDPAU can recover but CUDA can't
Got the extra outut from dmesg - it prints graphics cards serial no and bus id
+ dmesg output after S3 with a NVDEC movie playing
+ "Could not consume packet." Restart mpv or any other CUDA based application:

So chromium didn't update its flash player from 27.0.0.130 so but Firefox did
.. got frustrated and reinstalled chromium and pepperflash-nonfree which
actually upgraded the version but now when launching Chromium - the GPU has a
memory page fault ...
So KWin Compositing is unusable after launching chromium now - I need to
logout or shoot down X11 to get compositing back (I am on a Ryzen System and
had this problem before with a different driver) - I wished everything would
finally work and compositing stayed on. Only way to get compositing back is
running "kwin_x11 --replace &>

So chromium didn't update its flash player from 27.0.0.130 so but Firefox did
.. got frustrated and reinstalled chromium and pepperflash-nonfree which
actually upgraded the version but now when launching Chromium - the GPU has a
memory page fault ...
So KWin Compositing is unusable after launching chromium now - I need to
logout or shoot down X11 to get compositing back (I am on a Ryzen System and
had this problem before with a different driver) - I wished everything would
finally work and compositing stayed on. Only way to get compositing back is
running "kwin_x11 --replace &> /dev/null &"

Re: [Bug 1718193] Re: NEW RYZEN 7 SYSTEM WAKEUP

2017-11-23 Thread spear
These bugs dont really affect the functionality of the system,
if the bug still is present after the upgrade to 17.10 and the newer
kernels,
I will write again, I dont wanna lose my working OS to the new mainline
builds.

I plan to upgrade to 17.10 soon, but I got the newest KDE software working
on 17.04.
All the best

Re: [Bug 1494969] Re: [regression] knemo crashes with kubuntu-ppa/backports

2015-11-23 Thread spear
well theres a nice plasmoid in plasma 5 called "network monitor",
what i miss from knemo is the statistics (over months/years ..) and also
the systray entry showing me if my system is transferring data over the
network right now.

kind regards

The backtrace shoes 3 stars but kdeinit5 has no adress so drkonqui
doesnt let me report the bug.

[Bug 1388071] Re: sysv-rc exits at kubuntu upgrade to 14.10

2014-10-31 Thread spear
Hey,
I finally managed to migrate Kubuntu to version 14.10
in the new Dependency Based Booting system ...
following packages might be problematic:
virtualbox (wrong init script)
virtuoso-nepomuk (maintainer didnt end the init section correctly)
hth
kind regards

[Bug 1388071] Re: sysv-rc exits at kubuntu upgrade to 14.10

2014-10-31 Thread spear
Hey guys,

so basically I had to migrate the system
myself to the new LSBInitScripts System and Dependency Based Booting,
but I am not new to compiling code and stuff ...
but for the normal user this would be quite the end of his installations
lifetime.
I had to remove one init script (virtualbox) because it caused a loop in insserv
and I had to edit the init script file of virtuoso-nepomuk and add END INIT
INFO
because the maintainer forgot as mentioned above (this is the complete way how
I got rid of the bug)
and then I said dpkg --configure sysv-rc - the migration worked ... then I
set up all the half-installed
packages from the distribution upgrade. Now everything is working again.
hth anyone
kind regards

[Bug 1388071] Re: sysv-rc exits at kubuntu upgrade to 14.10

2014-10-31 Thread spear
** Description changed:

  Description:Ubuntu 14.10
  Release:14.10
  sysv-rc:
- Installed: 2.88dsf-41ubuntu18
- Candidate: 2.88dsf-41ubuntu18
+   Installed: 2.88dsf-41ubuntu18
+   Candidate: 2.88dsf-41ubuntu18

I expected the kubuntu upgrade manager to upgrade the
package but the script or whatever it is exited with status code 1.
+
+
+ so basically I had to migrate the system
+ myself to the new LSBInitScripts System and Dependency Based Booting,
+ but I am not new to compiling code and stuff ...
+ but for the normal user this would be quite the end of his installations
lifetime.
+ I had to remove one init script (virtualbox) because it caused a loop in
insserv
+ and I had to edit the init script file of virtuoso-nepomuk and add END INIT
INFO
+ because the maintainer forgot as mentioned above (this is the complete way
how I got rid of the bug)
+ and then I said dpkg --configure sysv-rc - the migration worked ... then I
set up all the half-installed
+ packages from the distribution upgrade. Now everything is working again.
+ hth anyone
+ kind regards

[Bug 1379761] Re: Asset compression does not happen unless debug mode is enabled

2014-10-13 Thread Kieran Spear
What does the apache log say? Looks like your apache conf isn't allowing
access to the dir aliased to /static (and that looks like apache 2.2
rather than 2.4-style access control?).

[Bug 1242766] Re: python manage.py compress: bin/sh: 1: lesscpy: not found

2013-10-22 Thread Kieran Spear
python-lesscpy is suggested in the Horizon package:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/horizon/+bug/1226674

AFAIK there should be no need to run compress as the Ubuntu package
includes the compressed resources already.

It looks like a bug in packaging rather than in Horizon itself. I've
retargeted it to the Ubuntu Horizon package, so the Ubuntu guys can take
a look.

FWIW, it looks like python-lesscpy isn't a hard dependency of the Ubuntu
package, so you probably need to install it explictly if you want to use
compression:

sudo apt-get install python-lesscpy

[Bug 1198021] [NEW] /static apache2 alias should probably be /horizon/static

2013-07-04 Thread Kieran Spear
Public bug reported:

Using 2013.1.

The openstack-dashboard package puts the Horizon WSGI at /horizon but
doesn't change the default static URL from /static. This causes
conflicts if something already lives at /static.

[Bug 1155871] [NEW] Project switcher only displays a single project

2013-03-15 Thread Kieran Spear

Testing the Grizzly Trunk Testing PPA.

Django_openstack_auth needs to be updated to at least 1.0.6 as there's
an incompatibility between django_openstack_auth 1.0.6 and new
keystoneclient versions (= 2.0) that breaks the project switch
dropdown.
