[Bug 278430] Re: In Intrepid, scribus-ng brings: ImportError: No module named subprocess (for python)

2008-12-11 Thread sureinlux
Thank you very much for the workaround.

I initially tried to have a backup of the libscriptplugin.so, trying to
rename it as libscriptplugin.so.old. But, only after removing it,
scribus-ng worked.

Thanks much.

Re: [Bug 245986] Re: horizontal MinMax graphs in gnumeric

2008-10-29 Thread sureinlux
Hi Pablo,
This bug is not an issue for me!. I prefer saving the spreadsheet
as .gnumeric. Just for completeness sake I was able to reproduce it.
Binary package hit: gnumeric
gnumeric-1.8.3-3ubuntu2 on amd64 Ubuntu Intrepid Ibex latest image as
of Thursday, October 30 2008, 08:55:31 IST.
a dummy dataset:
   a b c
min 4 5 6
max 5 6 7

a horizontal min-max plot (with default settings) of this data set
produced a nice graph. If I saved it as .gnumeric file, exited and
reopened the same file, the graph is intact. But, if I saved it as MS
Excel (tm) 97/2000/XP .xls and reopened it, the graph is blank! Hope
this was complete. This bug is a non-issue, as there is no MS Excel
equivalent of min-max plots. So no point in saving as .xls and trying
to open it in MS Excel, as MS Excel XP does not have min-max plots.
 Thanks
sureinlux

[Bug 117651] Re: ubuntu randomly freezes

2008-09-17 Thread sureinlux
I have a Compaq Presario V3029au series laptop with AMD Turion x64 and
Nvidia chipset. This also used to randomly hang. After much Googling
this thread solved the random hanging.
http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=58498 Basically add
idle=poll to boot options. Please note that this increases the core
temperatures significantly. But the random freezes never happened after
that.

Hope this helps.

[Bug 245986] [NEW] horizontal MinMax graphs in gnumeric

2008-07-06 Thread sureinlux
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: gnumeric

gnumeric-1.8.2-1ubuntu1 on amd64 Hardy Heron. Ubuntu 8.04.1,
I make Minmax plots (Horizontal) layout. The graphs are fine. But, after I
save as, close and open the same .xls file again the horizontal layout becomes
a vertical plot. Further the line thickness also changes to the default value.
I am aware that the Minmax plot layout is not available for Micorsoft Ecxel.

Re: [Bug 59857] Re: hangups

2007-03-21 Thread sureinlux
Possibly. I have AMD Turion x64, which is known to overheat. But these
points negate such a possibility:

   1. Hangups happen even say just after 10mins of uptime,
   2. I have it running with increased aeration (keeping a gap of about
10cm from the table) under the laptop for aiding in heat dissipation,
   3. am able to compile a kernel for more than an hour and at full
   throttle, it did'nt hangup.
   4. an used to using the wired connection, so never use wireless
   scanning so not a problem.

Thanks for the feedback, and am open for any suggestions.

Hello there,
I am using Compaq Presario V3029au. amd64 laptop with 32bit ubuntu. Also
hangups on 64bit ubuntu.

uname -a:

Linux killbill 2.6.17-10-generic #2 SMP Tue Dec 5 22:28:26 UTC 2006 i686
GNU/Linux

My laptop shows random hangup behaviour. It hangs both when I am
connected to the wired network, or not; running on AC power or from
battery, with or without the closed source nvidia, browsing firefox or
not, with or without beryl.

But its hangup during rsync (network load!!!) is predictable. after it
hangups, the capslock is not toggling, and cant ssh to this machine.

[Bug 59857] Re: hangups

2007-03-19 Thread sureinlux
A continuation of the previous comments:

The hangups happen even when I am running from the LiveCD mode. Also it happens
when I had openSUSE 10.2 and Mandriva 2007. Though I have had only ubuntu on my
laptop for 99% of the time. I have Xubuntu 6.10 on a desktop PC, and it shows
no sign of hangups (runs for days and weeks without need for reboot!).
My hunch it could be some fatal combination of my laptop's hardware and the
OS. The upcoming ubuntu 7.04 will hopefully find a cure???

Other than this (painful) issue, ubuntu is the best OS for my laptop
:-)

Thanks for the feedback. I do not get any error messages when I start
