[Bug 285682] Re: Ubuntu 8.10 can't mount digital camera showing a window popup message: -60 could not lock the device message
I absolutely agree too. This bug keeps me from upgrading my Ma's Ubuntu. She often usese her Digicam and imagine that Usecase: I upgrade to 8.10 or 9.04, she plugs in her digicam and she obviously wont be able to download the photos which would cause an instant call with screaming words: Son what have you done? I cannot download my photos anymore! Is the cam broken? Shall i tell her that this is expected behaviour? For normal users this is the absolut opposite of expected behaviour! [Bug 256571] Re: Arrows keys disabled when enabling keyboard layouts
I have *nearly* the same problem here: Enabling keyboard layouts stop my arrow keys working but not instantly. I enabled the keyboard layouts some days ago and then that: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/kdebase-workspace/+bug/262572 happened. And today (two days later) all of a sudden my arrow keys + ins, delete, pg up+down stopped working. Disabling the keyboard layouts made my arrow keys + ins, delete, pg up+down work again. But not my multimedia keys. [Bug 262572] [NEW] multimedia keys stop working after enabling keyboard layouts
Public bug reported: I have Microsoft Natural Multimedia Keyboard 1.0A. Scince Kde 4.1 IIRC my Multimedia Keys stop working when i enable the keyboard layout in the kde system settings. Meaning i can choose the next track, increase and decrease volume with my keyboard right after a fresh install of kde 4.1, but after i enabled keyboard layouts and choose the german layout as second one they stop working. So i go to System Settings - Keyboard Mouse - Keyboard Shortcuts and want to reassign the keys to their function but if i press one of the multimedia keys they aren't recognized anymore. The first time this happened to me was on 8.04 when the ppa's kde 4.1 packages were released and i upgraded to them. Right now i use the updated 8.10 on an amd64 architecture. After the upgrade to 8.10 i choose a fresh kde 4.1 configuration so my multimedia keys worked until i enabled keyboard layouts today. I hope this was not too confusing, at least it took me a very long time until i figured out what makes them stop working. ** Affects: kdebase-workspace (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- multimedia keys stop working after enabling keyboard layouts https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/262572 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 193195] Re: [hardy] trickle upload limit blocks wget
I took a look at the trickle source. Opening trickle.c you can see the following code: main(int argc, char **argv) { char *winsz = 200, verbosestr[16], *uplim = 10, *downlim = 10, *tsmooth = 3.0, *lsmooth = 20, *latency = 0; . while ((opt = getopt(argc, argv, hvVsw:n:u:d:t:l:L:)) != -1) switch (opt) { case 'v': verbose++; break; case 'w': winsz = optarg; break; case 'u': uplim = optarg; break; case 'd': downlim = optarg; break; case 'V': errx(1, version VERSION); break; case 'n': strlcpy(sockname, optarg, sizeof(sockname)); break; case 't': tsmooth = optarg; break; case 'l': lsmooth = optarg; break; case 's': standalone = 1; break; case 'L': latency = optarg; break; case 'h': default: usage(); } setenv(TRICKLE_DOWNLOAD_LIMIT, downlim, 1); setenv(TRICKLE_UPLOAD_LIMIT, uplim, 1); setenv(TRICKLE_VERBOSE, verbosestr, 1); setenv(TRICKLE_WINDOW_SIZE, winsz, 1); setenv(TRICKLE_ARGV, argv[0], 1); setenv(TRICKLE_SOCKNAME, sockname, 1); setenv(TRICKLE_TSMOOTH, tsmooth, 1); setenv(TRICKLE_LSMOOTH, lsmooth, 1); ... } In my understanding this means that the dl rate is hardcoded, and if trickle is called without the -d option the dl rate will remain at 10 k/s. Ok, just to clear things out. trickle -u 8 wget -c http://neacm.fe.up.pt/pub/ubuntu- releases/gutsy/ubuntu-7.10-desktop-i386.iso produces the same behavior, it limits the dl rate to 10 k/s, which it shouldnt do i think. [Bug 193195] Re: [hardy] trickle upload limit also limits wget download
Hm, ok, there must be a more severe bug inside the program. The first thing you mentioned was the fact that trickle -u 8 wget -c http://neacm.fe.up.pt/pub/ubuntu-releases/gutsy/ubuntu-7.10-desktop-i386.iso downloads only with 10 K/s and this can be explained by looking in the code above. Setting the -d option works, it your download will be as fast as you want to. So i checked out what goes on with the upload. I used the tool you proposed, nethogs: trickle -u 8 -d 1000 wget -c http://neacm.fe.up.pt/pub/ubuntu-releases/gutsy/ubuntu-7.10-desktop-i386.iso Now nethogs shows me an upload value of ca. 6 k/s with short peaks at 12 K/s measured over 1 minute And now comes the really weired thing, exchanging the -u and the -d option, like you wrote above i get an upload value at ca. 34 K/s with peaks at 40 K/s which is all my connection is able to transfer. Maybe you can try exchanging the options and see if it does change anything. -- [hardy] trickle upload limit also limits wget download https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/193195 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

i found a workaround here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=285176highlight=debconf+nice+edgy Running sudo dpkg-reconfigure debconf and choosing dialog as frontend solved the issue. [Bug 85800] Re: debconf error on upgrade install [feisty]
Same problem here on my machine (msi p965 neo, core 2 duo), adept upgrader reports the same problem and an sudo apt-get upgrade doesnt work too. Not upgrading x11-common reports the same error, i had to take out xorg and xserver-xorg too, then it works. -- debconf error on upgrade install [feisty] https://launchpad.net/bugs/85800 -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
