[Bug 1855303] Re: Update Broadcom Emulex lpfc driver in 5.4 to 12.6.0.x from 5.5

[Bug 1855303] Re: Update Broadcom Emulex lpfc driver in 5.4 to 12.6.0.x from 5.5
>So I appreciate the patch set you've provided, but due to the number of >patches, what I need to do is >cherry-pick them from mainline and push a >branch with cherry picks rather than 70+ patches that need to be >>reviewed/applied by the kernel team. > >And because I can't find these in mainline at all (I've just checked all the >proposed commit ids against the >most recent updates to mainline) I can't >cherry pick these. Do you know when they'll be accepted upstream? > >I also checked against Linus tree and cant find those commit IDs there either. Jeff, All of those 72 patches are already accepted by the Kernel community and most of them are already pulled into linus.git except for the ones you listed. But, the ones you have listed are present in mkp/scsi.git. Even when I was creating a patchset I went by searching those commit IDs, but couldn't find them either in linus.git or mkp/scsi.git. I guess those commit IDs were from local git. So, I found the equivalent commit IDs for those patches in mkp/scsi.git and cherry-picked them. Ultimately, all 72 patches are already cherry-picked from either linus.git or mkp/scsi.git. The patchset has the cherry-pick reference in it. I verified the patchset applies cleanly on the focal tree using: #git am //*.patch I thought executing this command is all you have to do it from your end. Regarding comment 6: >Additionally, this one does not cleanly apply when cherry-picked: >765ab6cdac3b681952da0e22184bf6cf1ae41cf8 scsi: lpfc: Fix a kernel >warning triggered by lpfc_get_sgl_per_hdwq() This commit is already pulled into the focal tree from upstream. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1855303 Title: Update Broadcom Emulex lpfc driver in 5.4 to 12.6.0.x from 5.5 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1855303/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 392948] Re: LCD Brightness won't Change - Acer 4736z
I also have the same problem on a Toshiba T110/00D. It has the Intel Mobile 4 Series Chipset and graphics (more specifically Intel GMA 4500M). The fix somewhat works, but I can't decrease/increase brightness of panel/cairo-dock, because they still remain bright. There's also the problem that when a pop-up window comes up, and when I open up a new window, that also remains at full screen brightness. But these are minor quibbles, as I can finally reduce the screen brightness :-D I really do hope the Ubuntu devs get this fixed up too :-D -- LCD Brightness won't Change - Acer 4736z https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/392948 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 219973] [NEW] Tech review report of applications.xml
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: ubuntu-docs * Under Installing applications, This introductory paragraph can be added. There are two ways of installing applications in ubuntu. One is by using the Terminal command line interface and another one is by using either Add/Remove or Synaptic Package Manager GUI applications. This section deals about how to install applications using the Add/Remove GUI Tool. To install applications using the command line interface, see [link to the section 'apt' under add-applications]. To install applications using the Synaptic package manager, see [link to the section 'synaptic' under add-applications]. * Under Installing applications, The advantage to using these methods are that you will be automatically notified of updates should be changed to The advantage of using these methods is that you will be automatically notified of updates. * Under Ubuntu equivalents to Windows programs, the list is way too short. The following applications which are the basic needs should also be in that list, 1) Winzip, Winrar - File Roller, Ark (I'm not sure whether Ark can be here in this list since it belongs to KDE, File Roller can be there) 2) Notepad, Wordpad - GEdit 3) Adobe Reader - Pdf Viewer 4) MS-Paint - Openoffice.Org Draw, Tuxpaint (Again i'm not sure if Tuxpaint can be here in this list since it is not preloaded in Ubuntu) 5) iTunes - Rhythmbox Music Player (For iPod Synchronisation) It cannot communicate with Skype, which uses proprietary technology. * Under Ubuntu equivalents to Windows programs, a sentence which descibes Ekiga says, It cannot communicate with Skype, which uses proprietary technology. This might make beginners to come to a conclusion that it is not possible to communicate to Skype users from ubuntu, which is infact possible. So, i think the specified sentence should be replaced with, Skype is also available under ubuntu platform but has to be installed explicitly. * I think WINE deserves to be described under the section Ubuntu equivalents to Windows programs as follows, In case you are not convinced with any of the above mentioned software or in case you are too close to Windows, there is an application called WINE, which enables Windows executables to run under linux. With WINE, you can install any Windows application you wish, if it is compatible. WINE has to be installed explicitly in ubuntu.. I say WINE should be here because, though its against free software principles, this description is just for users who are too close to Windows, but still want to use ubuntu. [Bug 219972] [NEW] Tech review report of config-desktop.xml
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: ubuntu-docs The following issues are notable.. * First of all there is no definition for what a Desktop Environment is.. That should be there.. A Desktop Environment is a graphical server which renders the users the graphical user interface of any operating system. Every desktop environment has its own file manager, icons, windows and other tools. Three of the famous desktop environments in the open source world are GNOME (GNU Network Object Model Environment) , KDE (K Desktop Environment) and Xfce.
