[Bug 1577213] Re: qtcreator freezes and crashes all the time

2016-07-17 Thread yesint
A kind of workaround is to add qtcreator-git ppa and install the latest version
from there. For me it works perfectly.
However it's a shame to have completely broken version of such popular software
in LTS.

[Bug 1586768] [NEW] Teamviwer hangs on Xubuntu 16.04

2016-05-29 Thread yesint
Public bug reported:

Teamviwer 11 on Xubuntu 16.04 hangs and crashes when establishing connection to
remote machine. It opens a window with a label "connecting to partner..." and
hangs. The window is not responding to mouse clicks and keybord and the text
label on it jumps slightly left and right all the time. After some time it
crashes.
This bug is xfce-specific since teamviwer works just fine on cinnamon 3 and KDE
desktops.
It seems to be some conflict between xfce window manager and wine in teamviwer.
There is no such bug in Xubuntu 14.04.

[Bug 1577213] [NEW] qtcreator freezes and crashes all the time

2016-05-01 Thread yesint
Public bug reported:

qtcreator 3.5.1 shipped by default in Xubuntu 16.04 crashes and freezes
all the time. It either freezes regularly for 10-30 seconds or just
crashes for no reason and with no trace at all if started from console.

[Bug 1314094] Re: Sound settings not stored for ordinary users

2014-04-29 Thread yesint
It seems that I found the problem. I've added the user to the groups sound and
pulse, deleted .config/pulse and .pulse/ and logged out and back in. After
that the volume is saved normally.
So, the actual bug is that pulseaudio silently fails to store the settings
instead of showing the message "incorrect permissions" or whatever. This may be
an intended behavior of course, but in such distro as Ubuntu it should be more
friendly. Another thing is that previous upgrades didn't break the things but
upgrade to 14.04 did.

[Bug 1314167] Re: [Realtek ALC887-VD, Pink Mic, Front] No autoswitch

2014-04-29 Thread yesint
In windows the jack is detected, so yes, it is supported.
I don't have anything at line in. The rear out is connected to speakers, but
the rear in is empty. I don't understand your point.
Anyway in sound settings dialog ALL inputs are ALWAYS marked as unplugged
regardless of what is connected to them.
I don't need auto detection that much, but I need it to remember preferences.
If somebody could propose a workaround to make front mic a default and to save
its volume between reboots that will solve my problem.

[Bug 1314167] [NEW] [Realtek ALC887-VD, Pink Mic, Front] No autoswitch

2014-04-29 Thread yesint
Public bug reported:

Pulseaudio always sets "Line in" as input source after reboot or logout.
When plugged the microphone to front jack nothing happens, the microphone
doesn't work.
After manual switching to "Front mic" in "sound settings" the microphone works
perfectly, but its entry in the settings still shows "unplugged".
After reboot or logout the settings are lost and "Line in" is set active again.

This bug is annoing - one have to switch the mic mannualy every time I'm
logging in. Less skilled users have huge troubles with this.

[Bug 1314094] [NEW] Sound settings not stored for ordinary users

2014-04-29 Thread yesint
Public bug reported:

In Xubuntu 14.04 sound settings are lost after reboot or logout for
unpreviledged users (which can't sudo). In contrast, for admin user all
settings are saved nicely.
1) Log in as unpreviledged user. Sound volume is at 50% by default.
2) Set volume to 100%
3) Logout and login again - volume is 50% again, previous value is not saved.
In addition to this after reboot the system forgets preferences for the
microfone and set it to rear jack all the time.

The bug is very annoing. It prevents unperviledged users from using
Skype - they just lack skills to reset the microfone jack and volume all
the time.

[Bug 1311833] [NEW] "File was changed outside qtcreator" appears in CMake project, prevents saving

2014-04-23 Thread yesint
Public bug reported:

When working on CMake-based project at random times I'm getting the following
bug:
1) Open file from the project tree.
2) Edit file
3) Compile
4) Close file
5) Reopen the same file - a message on top appears "File was changed outside
qtcreator". Previous edits are not saved!

This bug appears randomly - I can't see any logic. No external programs
are working with this file. No dead instances of qtcreator are in
memory.

When this happen I have to delete all build files and
CMakeLists.txt.user file and re-create the project. Otherwise I can get
rid of this bug and can't edit any files - all edits will be lost!

This bug is stopping the workflow and is critical. The program is
actually unusable!

[Bug 1299441] Re: Regression: Qt Creator cannot run the executable

2014-04-21 Thread yesint
I'm confirming this bug.
I can add that this happens any time when you swith between release and debug
builds.
Only the build, which was configured when CMake.txt was loaded the very first
time, works as expected. When you switch to another build, which was configured
later, you immediately get "No executable specified."
The bug is very annoing and ruins the whole workflow!

[Bug 1030450] [NEW] After logout from user account greeter is not displayed

2012-07-28 Thread yesint
Public bug reported:

After usual update I got the following problem:
I have 3 users - one with sudo priviledges and 2 ordinary. When ordinary user
logs out the black screen is shown - no greeter, just nothing. Doing "sudo stop
lightdm; sudo start lightdm" doesn't help - the same black screen. Only restart
helps.
There is no such problem with sudo user - log out works just fine for it and
greeter is shown.
I have no idea how to locate the problem.

[Bug 1008484] [NEW] USB_ModeSwitch should be installed by default

2012-06-04 Thread yesint
Public bug reported:

Most of the modern 3G USB modems are not working out of the box in Ubuntu
because they need USB_ModeSwitch tool.
Installing it is a bit tricky for inexperienced user (requires building from
source). It also can not be installed because the user just has no way to
download it since there is no connection!
3G modems are usually the "last chance" to get online when everything else is
not available, so they should work out of the box.

[Bug 1005250] [NEW] Additional layouts disappear after suspend

2012-05-27 Thread yesint
Public bug reported:

I have installed xubuntu with Ukrainian and English keyboard layouts enabled.
After that I added Russian in the properties of xkb-plugin applet. After each
susped/resume the third layout (Russian) disappers completely and I have to add
it again.
Not sure that the problem is in xfce4-xkb-pluin itself, however.
This is a serious bug - inexperienced user will be completely paralized if the
laptop resumes with no kayboard layout!

[Bug 989885] [NEW] Names of boost .so files are not recognized by CMake

2012-04-27 Thread yesint
Public bug reported:

In Ubuntu 11.10 and earlier Boost libraries were successfully recognized by
CMake. After clean install of 12.04 CMake fails to find any Boost libraries. It
finds headers, but don't see any .so files in /usr/lib.
Boost built from source and installed by default to /usr/local/lib is
recognized by CMake with no problems.
The files in /usr/lib (from libboost-dev package) are named like this:

libboost_thread.so.1.46.1

If installing from source there are three files for each library:

libboost_thread.a
libboost_thread.so
libboost_thread.so.1.46.1

It seems that CMake searches for libboost_thread.so and thus fails to
find any file.

[Bug 892288] [NEW] Weather applet in Xfce have to be patched to work again

2011-11-18 Thread yesint
Public bug reported:

Weather applet in Xfce stopped working in November 2011 due to some
changes on weather.com. Upstream patch should be applied
(https://bugzilla.xfce.org/show_bug.cgi?id=8105) because it seems that
there is no other native weather indicator in xfce, which could be used
as a replacement.

[Bug 892282] [NEW] In Xubuntu totem doesn't play sound in some videos

2011-11-18 Thread yesint
Public bug reported:

In Xubuntu totem fails to play sound in some avi and mkv files. VLC plays sound
in this files just fine. Sometimes the sound is just absent, sometimes I can
hear only the noise. The problem is quite random - the same file may work one
day and dosn't work few hours later. If I opening it several times it may start
working after few attempts (or not).
Probably this is the same problem as #267441.
Unfortunately I have no idea how to provide details, which may help to localize
the problem.

[Bug 881390] Re: Incorrect symbols in doc files with MathType formulas

2011-10-25 Thread yesint
I attached two screenshots - one from MS Word, another from LO. The difference
in rendering is clearly visible as well as all incorrect symbols.
The document was created in MS Office and then opened in LO 3.4.3. If I save it
in LO and then reopen in Word the formulas are Ok, so the problem is
exclusively in rendering of formula's graphical metafile, not in internal
conversion.

[Bug 879787] [NEW] Ugly widgets in lightdm login screen (Gtk3 theme missed)

2011-10-22 Thread yesint
Public bug reported:

In Xubuntu (updated from 11.04 to 11.10) the lightdm greeter uses ugly default
theme for widgets (rectangular boxy buttons and ugly menus). It seems that the
greeter does not see any suitable Gtk3 theme and uses the ugly default.
The greeter should use default greybird theme.

Unfortunately I have no idea if it is fixed in 11.10 and OO 3.4.x
because I'm running 11.04 now. In 11.04 and OO 3.3.2 this bug still
exists. It would be great if this is finally fixed!

The same for me. Only the first user appears in gdm and this happens
just randomly. If I log in to the first user and then log out then all
users appear again. Very annoying bug, which is really a problem for
less experienced users - they just don't know what to do.

[Bug 787934] [NEW] Number of workspaces in Xubuntu resets to one

2011-05-24 Thread yesint
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xfce4

I have two workpaces in Xubuntu. Sometimes after reboot their number
spontaneously switches to one. I have to go to "workspace settings" and
increase their number to two manually. After that it works for some time
but then again switches to one. This happens randomly after reboot, I
can't see any systematic behavior for this bug. Very annoying!

[Bug 785826] [NEW] Xubuntu freezes randomly on boot and shutdown

2011-05-20 Thread yesint
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xfce4

When booting Xubuntu randomly freezes. It shows logo screen and then
hangs forever until hard reboot. On shutdown it also sometimes freezes
forever with black screen. In both cases keyboard is not functional - I
can't switch to console. These problems are not systematic at all - just
random.

[Bug 781121] [NEW] Xfce "Action buttons" plugin does log out instead of shut down

2011-05-11 Thread yesint
Public bug reported:

When using "Action Buttons" panel plugin in Xubuntu it behaves incorrectly. To
reproduce:
1) Add Action Buttons plugin to Xfce panel
2) click on it and select "Shut Down" in the dialog
3) Sometimes it will log you out instead of shutting down
This behavior is rather random - sometimes it does shut down, sometime just
logs me out. I can't see any consistency.

[Bug 665864] [NEW] No keyboard input after screen saver

2010-10-24 Thread yesint
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: qtcreator

qtcreator does not respond to any keyboard input after gnome screen
saver. The mouse works as usually - I can open menus or drag things
around with the mouse, but the key presses are ignored. The problem
vanished when qtcreator window is minimized and them restored. After
next start of the screen saver the problem appears again.

To reproduce:
1) Start qtcreator
2) Wait until gnome screen saver starts
3) Press any key to exit screen saver
4) Try to press any keys - qtcreator does not respond, while its window is
focused.

This bug also affects VirtualBox, so this is probably general problem

[Bug 256876] Re: MathType formulas messed up and not converted in Open Office

2009-07-21 Thread yesint
It seems that academic community is of no priority for OO developers,
thus such compatibility bug is simply ignored. This is sad. We gave up
in our lab and installed MS Word under virtual machines on all
computers. Few users are lost. Not a big deal of course, but I'll warn
about this bug all my students (just because I don't want them to waste
time on fighting with formulas) and they will warn all their friends,
etc...

Such technically minor but show-stopping bugs has very very negative
impact on the whole open source movement, not only on the OO...

[Bug 256876] Re: MathType formulas messed up and not converted in Open Office

2009-05-13 Thread yesint
The solution from Geoff does not work at all for me. I did all suggested steps
and still see absolutely no difference in appearance of the equations.
However, I have a feeling that the solution should really be as simple as this
unless the font is hard-coded somewhere inside OO...

Btw, this is very good that somebody finally started to work on this
issue because it is really of critical importance for scientists,
students and other people who should open formulas from MS Word.

substituted by funny characters. As a result the formulas are messed up
completely. The formulas are not converted to OO Math, but shown as
figures (not editable) even if "convert math from/to MathType" option is
selected.

This bug seems to be ubuntu-specific. Original bug sent to OO team was
not reproduced (http://www.mail-
archive.com/[EMAIL PROTECTED]/msg396313.html). However, it was
confirmed in Ubuntu 8.04 and 8.10alpha, but not in Mandriva Spring
(http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=872833).

This bug is really critical for people, who exchange documents with
formulas with collaborators using MSWord+MathType.

The test file can be found in original bug report (http://www.mail-
archive.com/[EMAIL PROTECTED]/msg396313.html).
