[Bug 106092] Re: DemocracyPlayer has no audio...
Fixed in Gutsy. Version 0.9.6-1ubuntu1 works. ** Changed in: democracyplayer (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Fix Released -- DemocracyPlayer has no audio... https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/106092 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
Re: [Bug 106092] Re: DemocracyPlayer has no audio...
I have been playing with Gutsy-Gibbon for about a week or so now, and the update for the Democracy-Player, was in the upgrades that I did last night. I am VERY Happy to report that my player seems to work great now!! I have tried several different types of media files and started and stopped and paused and generally tried to trip it up any way I could... It NEVER missed a beat! I really like this player... Def!! was worth the wait and patience to have it working right now. (I am using the i386 version, for the record) Thanx all who worked on this!! Great job!! :) Bill Chris Halse Rogers wrote: Curious. I can also confirm this bug, but only in an i386 virtual machine - it seems this is one of those rare bugs which is exposed only in IA32 :). A new version of democracyplayer will be merged into Gutsy soon, and I'll see whether that works on i386. ** Changed in: democracyplayer (Ubuntu) Assignee: Chris Halse Rogers = (unassigned) Status: Needs Info = Confirmed -- DemocracyPlayer has no audio... https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/106092 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 106092] Re: DemocracyPlayer has no audio...
Hm, the only other thing I can think of is the totem backend. Can you try installing totem-gstreamer instead of totem-xine, and see if that fixes it? Again, I'm using the Feisty version of democracyplayer, and it works (near) flawlessly. -- DemocracyPlayer has no audio... https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/106092 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
Re: [Bug 106092] Re: DemocracyPlayer has no audio...
I'm using totem-gstreamer now as I was having problems with the xine player and I changed it out trying to get it back, (xine), working; ended up having to rename the xine directory and doing a fresh install. Xine works fine now, but still the no audio in Democracy. Everything but Democracy seems to be playing fine. It is safe to say that Democracy doesn't have audio with either of those two. (The xine crash was due to me playing with audio drivers and selections in the xine settings.) I am running Feisty also, on a 3.2 Intel with a gig of RAM and GeForce 6800 with two 19 flat panels; I have been using Feisty from about the halfway point, before release; following all the upgrades, almost daily for the last three months or so. It worked perfect until the Python 2.5 upgrade and really never has worked right since then. I was able to fake it out for a little bit but something else got upgraded, (can't remember what right this minute, (poss dbus) that was the end of it) and the patches only got the web portion back going so I could download the feeds, but it wouldn't play them; I typically use xine to play the downloads. Even at that, there is still the issue of it crashing all the time, and it seems like I am not the only one having both of these problems; something is just a bittt flakey with it yet; hard to tell if the no audio and crashes are related or not; I tend to think that it very well MAY BE related; get the audio working completely right and it just might quit crashing; pure speculation on my part, but still Bill Chris Halse Rogers wrote: Hm, the only other thing I can think of is the totem backend. Re: [Bug 106092] Re: DemocracyPlayer has no audio...
I too did a completely clean install as you requested and still have the exact same thing; no audio. (Also still crashes frequently, ie approx every second request to play a video). Chris Halse Rogers wrote: I cannot confirm this. I've just cleanly installed the latest (0.9.2.1-2.1ubuntu2) repository version of democracyplayer, and I get both sound and video (on AMD64). Could you try removing your previous democracyplayer configuration, and go with a fresh database, config, etc? To do that, simply move the .democracy folder somewhere else (for example mv ~/.democracy ~/democracy-backup) ** Changed in: democracyplayer (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) = Chris Halse Rogers Status: Unconfirmed = Needs Info -- DemocracyPlayer has no audio... https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/106092 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 106092] Re: DemocracyPlayer has no audio...
I did have libxine1-ffmpeg installed (1.1.4-2ubuntu3), but not libxine1-plugins So I've tried installing the latter, which has now added: libxine1-console (1.1.4-2ubuntu3) libxine1-gnome (1.1.4-2ubuntu3) libxine1-kde (1.1.4-2ubuntu3) libxine1-plugins (1.1.4-2ubuntu3) to my system. But still no audio. And I'm having some crashes and lockups, similar to Bill Hind, though I'm inclined to agree that's a separate bug. -- DemocracyPlayer has no audio... https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/106092 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 106092] Re: DemocracyPlayer has no audio...
Thank you for that stderr log. Do you have the gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg package installed? If not, could you install it and try again? If that fixes it, I'll add gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg to the Recommends line. -- DemocracyPlayer has no audio... https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/106092 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 106092] Re: DemocracyPlayer has no audio...
Yes, I do have gstreamer0.10-ffmpeg installed, version 0.10.2-0ubuntu4. I tried completely removing and reinstalling that package, but I still get no audio from that movie when using democracyplayer. -- DemocracyPlayer has no audio... https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/106092 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Forgot to mention: I have totem-xine installed, not totem-gstreamer, in case this is relevant. -- DemocracyPlayer has no audio... https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/106092 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

In that case, do you have the libxine1-ffmpeg package installed, or possibly the libxine1-plugins package? [Bug 106092] Re: DemocracyPlayer has no audio...
I have this problem too. When I play a video using democracyplayer, usually I can't hear any audio, but the video looks OK. But if I play the downloaded file with Totem, the movie plays just fine. I did my testing after moving the .democracy folder out of the way, as requested by Chris Halse Rogers. I have captured the stderr output of this process, which gives us a clue: it doesn't know how to handle the audio stream of type audio/mpeg. Hope this is useful. My version of democracyplayer is exactly the same as Chris's, and I'm also using Ubuntu Feisty on AMD64. ** Attachment added: Captured stderr of the democracyplayer process http://librarian.launchpad.net/7337119/stderr -- DemocracyPlayer has no audio... https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/106092 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
