Yes, thanks for that hint. It fixes the problems and yum operates normally then. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1261781 Title: yum update e.g. shows many errors To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/yum/+bug/1261781/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1261781] Re: yum update e.g. shows many errors
Ok, I was just making sure you were calling yum in the context of creating a chroot and not expecting it to manage Ubuntu packages. Please try the workaround in bug #1200288, namely setting sslverify to false either in a yum config file or on the command line, for example: yum --config=/path/to/config --installroot=... --setopt=sslverify=false and comment back here if that works around the error you are seeing.
The commands from /usr/share/doc/yum/README.Debian do nothing at all. [Bug 1261781] Re: yum update e.g. shows many errors
The error occurs on "yum update" aswell as "yum --installroot=/opt/redhat groupinstall base" as the last command was what I actually need the whole yum magic for.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. Can you explain in what context you are trying to run the yum command? It looks to me like you are trying to update your Ubuntu system with yum, is that correct? This is most definitely not what the yum command is provided for in Ubuntu. Please read /usr/share/doc/yum/README.Debian. ** Changed in: yum (Ubuntu) Status: New => Invalid ** Changed in: yum (Ubuntu) Status: Invalid => Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1261781 Title: yum update e.g. shows many errors To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/yum/+bug/1261781/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
