[Bug 1264213] Re: PCI/internal sound card not detected
Hi Raymond: Yes, that seems to be the source of the problem. I'm guessing there's some incompatibility between kernel modules, perhaps because of my use of the audio ppa. I've tried to remove the ppa, but synaptic indicates a lot depends on it. Any workarounds someone could suggest? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1264213 Title: PCI/internal sound card not detected To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/alsa-driver/+bug/1264213/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1264213] Re: PCI/internal sound card not detected
I took some severe measures (dpkg remove, ignore dependencies) to eliminate the audio ppa software from my system and reinstall the base software and kernel modules. Rebooted. Still no luck. Then reinstalled the ppa software with the long line of install code at SoundTroubleshootingProcedure in the Ubuntu Community Documentation. My audio is now working again. Still, took hours and a lot of experimentation to get to this point. It would be better if audio wasn't fragile to occasional hard shutdowns.
