[Bug 155495] Re: touchpad does not work after upgrade from feisty to gutsy
Hi dbensimon, It is not exactly what I said. I don't know if it was turned off by default (it's an Acer Aspire 5102wlmi, not an 5002). What I know is that I had "played" with those buttons on the laptop (I've got no laptop, it's not mine), without knowing what is was for, and I think I have disabled it myself. So, my explanation is that as I am not used to laptops and as I didn't really know what I was doing with those buttons, I though it was a bug whereas it was not. -- touchpad does not work after upgrade from feisty to gutsy https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/155495 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

I can confirm and VincentRC has confirmed that the Touchpad is off by default on the Acer Aspire 5002wlmi ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics (Ubuntu) Status: Invalid => Confirmed -- touchpad does not work after upgrade from feisty to gutsy https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/155495 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 155495] Re: touchpad does not work after upgrade from feisty to gutsy
Oh my goodness, I have the same specs and "Fn+F7" worked for me. I think this turned on instead of off by default (on the live CD and post Install. This bug has to be checked by anyone who has a Acer Aspire 5002wlmi and is having problem with the touchpad in Ubuntu 7.10 Gutsy Gibbon. [Bug 155495] Re: touchpad does not work after upgrade from feisty to gutsy
Thank you Peter, your last suggestion was right. The funnier is that I think I had disabled it myself. But as I'm not used to laptops, I didn't know it was possible and I've not been careful enough. Thank's again, everything's ok. [Bug 155495] Re: touchpad does not work after upgrade from feisty to gutsy
This might be a silly suggestion (i've not seen this make of laptop), but some have a touchpad disable feature, either as a button near the touchpad, or as a Fn +F?? keypress. Do you have anything which looks like it might be a touchpad / mouse emblem on top of a F?? key? (I've seen Fn+F7 suggested as a possibility for a similar model number). -- touchpad does not work after upgrade from feisty to gutsy https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/155495 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 155495] Re: touchpad does not work after upgrade from feisty to gutsy
Sounds similar to LP bug #95515, although that is marked as Fixed in Gutsy. A test from that bug report: Does 'sudo laptop-detect && echo "Yes"' return "Yes"? Also, can you post the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file please. -- touchpad does not work after upgrade from feisty to gutsy https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/155495 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is the bug contact for Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
