[Bug 1800405] Re: garbled pages when using cleanup with deskew
I don't think it is reasonable to expect Ubuntu to update packages in LTS without security problems, but I am glad that you now have the latest release working. I can't reproduce your problem with the clean/unpaper dialogue box. If I first delete Layout=Double, I can then select #output pages = 1 or more. If there are 2 or more output pages, I can then select RTL or LTR. Can you attach an image of the dialogue with Layout=Single, and one with Layout=Double, please? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1800405 Title: garbled pages when using cleanup with deskew To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gscan2pdf/+bug/1800405/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
Re: [Bug 1800405] Re: garbled pages when using cleanup with deskew
Hi Jeffrey, Well I am slightly shocked that Ubuntu does provide me with such an old version in a supported version of their linux-distribution. I followed the advice on this page and now I am on version 2.1.7: http://ubuntuhandbook.org/index.php/2017/03/install-latest-gscan2pdf-ubuntu-16-04/ Still there is an issue in this version that I came across as well in 1.5.3 but not in the antique version on Ubuntu 10. When using clean-up/unpaper, one can choose between single and double layout. On my antique version in Ubuntu 10, I can select layout=Double and Output-pages=2 and it will split the pages from a scanned book, very handy! However in 2.1.7, I can specify Output-pages=2 only while layout=Single, which makes no sense. Maybe this is a knwon bug, maybe not, now you know it fur sure. ;) Best, EJ Jeffrey Ratcliffe schreef op 2018-11-10 10:33: > That explains things. You are using a 2.5 year-old version. [Bug 1800405] Re: garbled pages when using cleanup with deskew
That explains things. You are using a 2.5 year-old version. I changed the compression for lineart images for auto from lzw to png in v1.5.3. In that case there is no need to try to reproduce the bug and we can close this. Re: [Bug 1800405] Re: garbled pages when using cleanup with deskew
Hi Jeffrey, The version I am using is 1.3.9 on Ubuntu 16.04. I changed the setting back to Auto and when I will manage to reproduce the issue, I will let you know! This was a real bug. Before I close it, please confirm which version of gscan2pdf you are using so that I can tell whether * the workaround I implemented isn't * or the version you are using predates the workaround -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1800405 Title: garbled pages when using cleanup with deskew To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gscan2pdf/+bug/1800405/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
Re: [Bug 1800405] Re: garbled pages when using cleanup with deskew
Hi Jeffrey, In fact I had never changed the compression type setting, it was still on Aut0, yet I got the garbled pages.. Now I set it to PNG, let's see whether the issue re-occurs. I apologize for overwriting the file with the garbled pages, I will keep it next time the issue occurs. I think it is best for now to close this bug. [Bug 1800405] Re: garbled pages when using cleanup with deskew
Which version of gscan2pdf are you using? Your problem sounds like a known issue in the LZW compression in PDF::API2, which gscan2pdf uses to create the PDFs. Please selected auto or PNG compression when you are saving the PDF. If that doesn't work around the problem, please attach an example scan, that when imported, produces a corrupted PDF. Please also attach a log file, created by starting gscan2pdf with the --log=log option, reproducing the problem, and quitting.
