Hi Jeffrey, Well I am slightly shocked that Ubuntu does provide me with such an old version in a supported version of their linux-distribution. I followed the advice on this page and now I am on version 2.1.7: http://ubuntuhandbook.org/index.php/2017/03/install-latest-gscan2pdf-ubuntu-16-04/
Still there is an issue in this version that I came across as well in 1.5.3 but not in the antique version on Ubuntu 10. When using clean-up/unpaper, one can choose between single and double layout. On my antique version in Ubuntu 10, I can select layout=Double and Output-pages=2 and it will split the pages from a scanned book, very handy! However in 2.1.7, I can specify Output-pages=2 only while layout=Single, which makes no sense.
