[Bug 155157] Re: no video overlay on external monitor
If the external monitor is showing a blue rectangle where the video is supposed to be, this is probably a video overlay problem associated with the driver for the particular graphics chips. I obtained this info from here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=123082 I have the same problem with a Thinkpad X60s - Intel graphics. I did what anewguy suggested and was able to display videos on an external monitor. This will work, he says, if you have an overlay problem. You start the video with one instance of the player (e.g., mplayer). It should show a blue rectangle on the external monitor. Pause it and minimize it. Then start the video again with another instance of a player. I had to use a different program because the default program would just start the video all over again. So I started with mplayer, paused it. Then I started the video again with vlc. This worked. The video showed up on the external monitor. So at least on a Thinkpad X60s, there's an overlay problem in the graphics drivers. I did get into a conversation with the developer at the above mentioned bug (15708). I am happy to report that it is fixed in the latest version of the source code. [Bug 206295] Re: firefox 3 right-click menu chooses random options
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 187313 *** https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/187313 This happens to me as well, and I'm running Firefox 3 on Windows XP. I believe this problem is caused by the positioning of the context menu in Firefox 3. In previous versions, if I remember correctly, the point that you right-mouse click marks the corner of where the menu pops up. In Firefox 3, I find that the point you click marks somewhere in the middle of the menu. So, the cursor is now directly to the left of one of the options in the menu (or, if you're on the far right side of the screen, directly ON the menu). My guess is that if you're moving along quickly, Firefox interprets your motion as another click and brings up the option it thinks you clicked on. That explains why holding down the button prevents this problem. [Bug 243012] [NEW] [SRU] apache2-mpm-itk uninstallable with apache2.2-common from hardy-proposed
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: apache2-mpm-itk There is a new apache2 upload in hardy-proposed, so apache2-mpm-itk needs a rebuild-only SRU again (so it gets build with apache2 from hardy-proposed). [Bug 242980] Re: Error when user does not own the X server
I log in as russel then in a gnome-terminal do sudo su - bazaarbook to switch to being user bazaarbook in that terminal. It is not at all surprising that olive-gtk fails, but I think the error message and the seg fault need a wee bit of attention. As it happens the DISPLAY variable is not set, so this may be the root of the problem: | echo $DISPLAY | -- Error when user does not own the X server https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/242980 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 235134] Re: [8.04]DBus.Error.AccessDenied on Hal.FindDeviceByCapability
Sorry, didn't mean to give you an ouchie :). After much digging I found the solution. Apparently using a dbus interface fixes the code. Here we go: hal_dot = 'org.freedesktop.Hal' hal_path = '/org/freedesktop/Hal' bus = dbus.SystemBus() hal_manager = bus.get_object(hal_dot, hal_path+'/Manager') interface = dbus.Interface(hal_manager, hal_dot+'.Manager') udi_list = interface.FindDeviceByCapability('volume') and voila! it works. -- [8.04]DBus.Error.AccessDenied on Hal.FindDeviceByCapability https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/235134 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Well, I tried the patch (with a apt-get source linux-ubuntu- modules-2.6.24-19-generic, application, dpkg-buildpackage -us -uc, dpkg -i), and it was no help to me on my T61p.
