[Bug 682788] Re: Improve Unity menus
** Description changed: - Global menu in general (not only in Unity) is very unergonomic on large - screens (see the attached screenshot) because if you have a small window - somewhere near the low right corner you have to move the cursor all the - way up to to panel to reach the menu. I understand why the global menu - was used for the netbook edition (it saves space and most windows are - maximized), but since Unity is intended to be for the desktop edition - there should be an option to switch to the traditional position of the - app menu. It would be welcomed by many desktop users. + ===+++ _ ! [Bug 412647]
(In reply to Sid from comment #298) Just in case, SDK is out. http://gstreamer.com/ In the Windows installation instructions they recommend removing the client app's dependency on MSVC2010's runtime DLL and using the “basic” C runtime which comes in every Windows system since Windows XP, and is named MSVCRT.DLL. See: Removing the dependency with the Visual Studio runtime http://docs.gstreamer.com/display/GstSDK/Installing+on+Windows We apparently ship with the MSVC 2010's RT, and switching runtimes makes me nervous... Were we to ship this on Windows, we may be best to build the SDK ourselves with MSVCRT2010 or get Collabora to build one with MSVCRT2010. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/412647 Title: Firefox is not able to play mp4 video tags To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/firefox/+bug/412647/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 930807] Re: [gm45] Intel GPU X4500 hung, screen corruption without total freeze
apport information ** Description changed: Hi, just experienced the second (partial) crash of my graphics subsystem, this time I'm able to report it instead of rebooting the machine, as the remaining functionality is much greater this time... Yesterday it happened within rssowl, scrolling down to an embedded gif animation; this time it was just random surfing the web with firefox, reading news at a hardware magazine. Screen goes blank for a moment, afterwards characters go invisible or form blocks and special chars, title bars of windows go black and buttons become unreadable (however, stay functional). Within an already opened vmware machine, the mouse pointer is just a rectangular mess of colorful pixels and some milder screen corruption happens. Restarting applications does not fully recover the state (but it cures over time). Some applications are affected much stronger than others, rekonq (why do I have to report bugs with rekonq?!) offers now full functionality, while content in firefox was nearly unreadable. Will append photos if it occurs next time, as there are no real artifacts left that would describe the initial problem. [Bug 603415] Re: Unity should have a screen magnifier
I can confirm the problem. One of my colleagues has worthening vision problems. Specialists send by the sécurité sociale speak of using ZoomText (http://www.aisquared.com/zoomtext/more/zoomtext_magnifier) which is a paying Windows only application... Turning to my LUG, I've been sent to kwin zoom mode (kde), gnome3 accessibility zoom. But no solution for Unity. Well, my colleague will probably switch to another environment, but this should definitely be addressed (not to mention cases where such features must be compulsory to compete in some gov calls for tender). [Bug 1011572] [NEW] gnome-power-statistics dislpays a blank window
Public bug reported: When I open a gnome-power-statisics window (either by the icon on the top panel or by the terminal), the first time every thing works fine, but if I close the window and then reopen it (no matter how long after) the display is just blank, only the window frame and control are there but absolutely no content. I can try again as many time ever, no change. This may have to do with the fact, the process is always running in the background and the second time a window is asked for there is something wrong. If I artificially start another power statistics process, like in another account using sudo, then I can get the window to display content for the other times. (and this has nothing to do with the presence of xfce software that appear in the addition infos, it was happening before I installed them...) [Bug 1007371] Re: Precise - bonding without link aggregation
I'm sure that's bug, but I do not know if in kernel or bonding driver. Next - I think, that is it critical bug. For corporate sector is bonding on server (I think) very important and without link aggregation is that server in large network unusable. For example, our network has about 100 PCs (~80 Thin client and ~20 full PC) and throughput in this network is one of the decisive. So - if 12.04 LTS server has bonding without link aggregation - in this case I can't upgrade servers from 10.04 LTS to 12.04 LTS. As I described above, bonding in 10.04 LTS is O.K. - working as failover and as link aggregation. But in Precise bonding is working only as failover. Link agregation NOT WORKING. You can have several gigabit NICs in bonding, but total throughput (bandwidth) to server is only ~1Gbps (for three NICs in Precise is 3x ~305 Mbits/sec, but for three NICs in Lucid is 3x ~925Mbps). Precise server has : - 3.2.0-24-generic #39-Ubuntu SMP Mon May 21 16:52:17 UTC 2012 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux - Ethernet Channel Bonding Driver: v3.7.1 (April 27, 2011) - config of bonding is above -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1007371 Title: Precise - bonding without link aggregation To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1007371/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1011576] [NEW] Mac UK long-alu keyboard has wrong mapping for keypad-enter key
Public bug reported: Full details here: http://askubuntu.com/questions/148083/why-the-enter-key-in-a-mac-keyboard-is-mapped-to-level/149187 I have a fresh install of Ubuntu 12.04 Trying to use a Mac keyboard (full-size recent UK aluminium model) - the keypad-enter key is mapped to 'Level' instead of 'KP_Enter'. [Bug 1011587] [NEW] Cannot move files to Trash
Public bug reported: Nautilus reacts strange from the user's point of view: as long as it is configured to move files to Trash, when I delete something, it should always move files to Trash. But it does not react like this on some occasions, I could not figure it out exactly. One case is when I delete files from NTFS mounted partitions (local hard disk). Another case seems to be when I delete files belonging to Root or some other user (I think). This does not make any sense. Either it puts all files in Trash, either it does not, but for all the files I delete. This is unreliable reaction as I do not know when I am safe to delete and recover a file and when I am not. [Bug 1007371] Re: Precise - bonding without link aggregation
In regards to your saying this is a critical bug, I'll say this: Lets all refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Importance for bug importance criterion. Critical is not a valid importance for this bug. Thanks to Dave Gilbert for setting this against linux i couldn't do that yesterday because of an internet router that got fried. From what I can tell this is handled in the kernel. [Bug 1011564] Re: [upstream] the document contains more rows than supported in the selected format.
On further experimentation I found that restricting the print area does NOT remove the error message. However, in the document used for testing, a template file prepared as follows gives the error, tested with Libreoffice 3.5.4_2 from PPA and 3.5.3: - new document - fill column A with data using fill/increment for a hundred or so rows. - Select column header and give all cells borders (which extend the to the rows limit), or perform other formatting to the entire column, such as background fill - save as .xls format Result: unsupported rows If the cell formatting is restricted to the active area, the error message does not show. It appears that the range of formatted cells is not truncated by the Excel export filter, giving rise to an error for the formatting over 64k rows. Unfortunately this technique of cell formatting is in common use by spreadsheet users to avoid selecting a specific area in their document. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1011564 Title: [upstream] the document contains more rows than supported in the selected format.
