[Bug 1233270] Re: twitter.com does loads in plain html

2013-10-01 Thread Olivier Tilloy
This is not plain html, this is rather a degraded version that twitter.com
serves us based on the user-agent string.
Let’s use the UA override mechanism to send it a UA string that will get us
shiny touch content.

expect stop and patches libvirt to support sending itself a SIGSTOP

[Bug 1228210] Re: libvirt-bin upstart job considers service started before it is ready

2013-10-01 Thread Robie Basak
So, I think there are three things we can do:

1) Make uvtool's postinst wait for libvirtd's unix socket to exist and
be connectable. I think I should do this anyway as a workaround, as it's
not particularly intrusive, will get us by for now and will help with
the no-change backport to Precise I'd like to be possible without having
to worry about a libvirt SRU. But it doesn't seem like a clean solution
to me. I have a debdiff ready for this that uses socat, and another that
uses a Python script to avoid a universe dependency in case we want to
MIR uvtool in the future.

2) Modify libvirt's packaging to use expect stop. I have an
experimental debdiff that appears to work fine with this option and
solves the original issue with no modification to uvtool's postinst
needed. But it seems a bit ugly to me, since libvirt's behaviour in not
existing the original called process before it is ready seems perfectly
reasonable to me.

3) Make upstart wait on the original called process after it detects the
fork with expect daemon. Presumably this applies to expect fork as
well. Is there any use case for which this isn't reasonable or would
create a regression? Are there any other problems with this approach?

I'm ok with tony's synopsis -- you can't make this work out of the box
with mvno's, and in general that's a carrier thing anyway. It would be
nice however to be able to edit apn settings without going to the

[Bug 1220994] Re: [P5E3 Deluxe, AD1988B, playback] No sound at all during speaker test under system settings.

2013-10-01 Thread launchpadmember
This report needs an appropriate status update and or, if no one else
can confirm, then this bug should be closed.

I'm not sure which status to choose since I'm not sure what fixed the
problem and I don't see any options for closing this bug.

[Bug 1226990] Re: popup menu display corrupted in notes-app

2013-10-01 Thread Ugo Riboni
I'm using a custom one because I need to enable disable options based on what
mime types are in the clipboard, and react to them in a special way as well (to
paste images).
If there's a way to use the standard popup and still do these things, please
poke me and let's figure out how to do that. I'm all for simpler code that uses
standard stuff.

[Bug 1233734] [NEW] [snb] exiting fullscreen html5 video on chromium leaves rest of screen unrefreshed

2013-10-01 Thread Timo Aaltonen
Public bug reported:

While testing 2.99.903 I hit this bug, which isn't actually a regression
since 2.21.14 at least, since I can only reproduce it on my sandybridge
laptop, not on ivybridge or haswell.

So opening a html5 video from youtube with chromium and putting it
fullscreen works fine. When I exit the fullscreen mode though, only the
browser window contents are refreshed, everything else shows remnants of
the video. Clicking on the desktop returns things to normal.

since it only happens on sandybridge (didn't test on gen4 yet, don't
have gen5) I guess it's a driver bug.

[Bug 1233737] [NEW] letters, characters look like smashed pixels in window text (quite often)

2013-10-01 Thread Sandor
Public bug reported:

I have just upgraded from 1304 to 1310 by upgrade tool. Some letters are
not showing in text or just smashed dots, pixels shown. After some time
it either sorts itself or I have to scroll the text out of sight and
back to solve the issue. It looks like the rendering of the text is not
good. It happens quite often, in any window, both in window title and
text area, independent of any program. I have seen it when I browse with
firefox but also ubuntu windows like software centre.

[Bug 1210253] Re: With Havana 2 installed, Launching horizon UI results in the error NameError: name 'Dashboard' is not defined

2013-10-01 Thread Phil Frost
The cloud archive does not yet have the fix. It's not terribly hard to
patch the packages locally, though. Summary:

apt-get install build-essential
apt-get source horizon
apt-get build-dep horizon
cd horizon-*
# apply the changes to debian/rules and debian/changelog at
#
http://launchpadlibrarian.net/148082203/horizon_1%3A2013.2~b2-0ubuntu2_1%3A2013.2~b2-0ubuntu3.diff.gz
# (although probably you will want a different version number, so
# the next ubuntu cloud archive version superceeds yours)
dpkg-buildpackage -us -uc
cd ..

install the resulting .debs with dpkg -i, or put them in a ppa, or
some other repo, etc.

I've confirmed that these changes fix at least the problem described
here. I'm then having a different problem: when I log in, I get
redirected back to the login page, with no error in the browser or
apache's error.log that I can find. However, that is probably more
likely something I did wrong upgrading from grizzly to havanah, or a
separate issue.

[Bug 1068605] Re: List of session type does not fit on screen with many window managers installed

2013-10-01 Thread John Lea
** Description changed:

Please see the attached screenshot. The system has many window managers
installed because it is a public lab machine with a many users that have
different preferences. In order to change the session, one is supposed
to confirm his selection by pressing the button at the bottem. However,
the button hardly fits on the screen, in fact, one has to guess the
  purpose of the lowest button.

On option would be to have the list of managers in a scroll box.
+
+ ---
+ Desired resolution:
+
+ - Vertically middle align the desktop environment switcher with the back
+ button when there are more than 6 desktop environments in the menu.

[Bug 978032] Re: partitioning step doesn't have discard as a selectable mount option

2013-10-01 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package partman-basicfilesystems - 84ubuntu1

---
partman-basicfilesystems (84ubuntu1) saucy; urgency=low

  * Resynchronise with Debian. Remaining changes:
- If partman/automount is preseeded to true, automatically mount
partitions with usefully-mountable filesystems on subdirectories of
  /media.
- Add minimal support for NTFS partitions using ntfs-3g.
- Mount FAT filesystems at boot (fstab pass 1).
- Mount FAT (other than EFI System Partitions) and NTFS with
  umask=007,gid=46 (static group plugdev).
- When formatting over the top of an existing swap partition, preserve
its UUID to avoid leaving systems that use UUIDs in /etc/fstab without
  swap.
- mount.d/basic: Close mount's fd 3 so that it doesn't inherit a debconf
file descriptor, to prevent log-output hanging when ntfs-3g is in use.
- Special case loopmounted filesystems as it's safer to format the
  underlying file, not the device.
- Allow armel/omap to use FAT for /boot, since the problems with it can
be worked around while it's difficult to use anything else given uboot
  limitations.
- Stop using libparted to format swap partitions.
- Disable existing swap partitions before formatting them.
- Use mkdosfs to create FAT filesystems, since libparted cannot handle
  doing that on non-512-sector disks.
- Always use mkfs.ext2 to create ext2 filesystems, since libparted's
ext2 code is deprecated and can't handle large sector sizes.

partman-basicfilesystems (84) unstable; urgency=low

  * Add nodiratime option for ext2, and noatime, nodiratime, relatime, and
discard options for fat16 and fat32 (see #722598; LP: #978032).

[Bug 1233739] [NEW] IBus Autopilot test failures

2013-10-01 Thread Brandon Schaefer
Public bug reported:

The IBus autopilot tests are failing because g-s-d (gnome-system-daemon)
insists on always starting the ibus-daemon when im-config is set to
something else. Another problem is g-s-d starts the ibus-daemon with
this option --panel disable this causes all ibus input to fail, yet
the ibus-daemon is open.

We were in argument to take out the dbus call in g-s-d, but that has to
be merged before the ibus tests will pass again. Unless im-config -n
ibus is set by default...

click on cancel, the connection get's terminated, with the error no secrets
were provided.
Deleting and re-adding of the connection doesn't fix this behaviour.

[Bug 978032] Re: partitioning step doesn't have discard as a selectable mount option

2013-10-01 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
This bug was fixed in the package partman-ext3 - 79ubuntu1

---
partman-ext3 (79ubuntu1) saucy; urgency=low

  * Resynchronise with Debian (LP: #978032). Remaining changes:
- Special case loopmounted filesystems as it's safer to format the
  underlying file, not the device.
- Add preseedable partman-ext3/lazy_itable_init question, which if true
runs mkfs.ext* with '-E lazy_itable_init', greatly speeding up mkfs on
large drives. This defaults to false since it is currently unsafe for
use on areas of disk that previously contained a filesystem.

partman-ext3 (79) unstable; urgency=low

  [ Stephen Gran ]
  * Allow discard and nodiratime options for ext4. Closes: #722598

[Bug 1233740] [NEW] Enter key hitting needed to reboot the system

2013-10-01 Thread Franco Martelli
Public bug reported:

Hi,
on my system installation process once completed successfully at the end return
a black screen with a single one row that surely it refers to a daemon stopping
service since it's end with the [ OK ] string (sorry I didn't take note of
which it is). The PC seems freeze instead it's waiting for the user to hit
Enter key to reboot but he isn't advised on this. No Remove the installation
CD and press Enter to reboot message was displayed at all.
Best regards.

It might be fixed. The bug 1225429, hanging at the end of the

operation, no freezes so far.

still work for you?

[Bug 1233749] [NEW] lesscpy command fails

2013-10-01 Thread James Page
Public bug reported:

Advertises as python3 but still uses argparser; Debian NEW queue has an
updated/fixed version which works OK _ suggest we sync that from the
Debian git repository.

[Bug 1233698] Re: ephemeral disk formating fails on Windows Azure

2013-10-01 Thread Ben Howard
Patched cloud-init to deal with this effectively by adding the ability
for cloud-init to remove existing parititions and changed the Azure
configuration to delete the existing partitions on the ephemeral device.
