[Bug 270856] Re: IPython hangs with PyGTK

2010-01-09 Thread Fernando Perez
Michiel, the problem is that in this case (I just tried) the shell
blocks while plot windows are open...

For 0.10.1, it would be nice to either have a solid solution here or to
remove that warning, because it's not very informative to the users. I
tried changing the code to have a single-threaded shell simply calling
set_interactive(True/False), but neither worked: the shell just blocks
on input.

Ultimately in 0.11 we have a much more robust solution to this using
PyOS_InputHook, and so far it's looking very solid. So if someone
proposes for 0.10.1 a patch that takes proper advantage of the
set_interactive call, I'll be happy to apply it, otherwise there's no
point in giving that warning (since using the non-threaded shell and gtk
just blocks, as best I can see in testing here on Ubuntu Karmic with a
current pygtk that has set_interactive).

[Bug 414967] Re: print statements get incorrectly mangled by the autocall feature under Python 2.6

2010-01-09 Thread Fernando Perez
Mmh:

- Beni, I've applied your patch to 0.10.1 and trunk-dev, thanks.

- As for the real problem with print, I'm not sure what to do: I've
spent some quality time with the Python sources, trying to write some
ctypes-based utilities to fish into the compiler state struct (see
compiler.c and future.c in the Python tree), but no success yet. It's
not the type of code I'm familiar with so it's likely to be slow/hard
going, and I don't have the time for more on this now. Ultimately I'm
leaning towards suggesting that people simply put in their config file

from __future__ import print_function

and be done with it! That way they start getting used to print as a
function everywhere, in preparation for 3.0, they can learn the syntax
of the function, and IPython will happily put the parens in there for
them.

It seems like a better way to address this than to sink days of work
into an obscure tool to spelunk into the compiler internals at runtime
to fish a __future__ flag out...

Thoughts?

If people agree on this, closing the bug will just require adding the
text above to the docs/faq.

What do I need to do to get this into Ubuntu's versions?

I don't know specifically what the ubuntu policy is regarding
backports of fixes like this, but I'd start here:

http://packages.ubuntu.com/karmic/python/python

This is the actual package page, you might have luck either reporting
this to their bug tracker, or contacting the team members directly.

It would really be great to have this done upstream; all my machines
use ubuntu and this stupid backspacing is driving me crazy...

Cheers,

[Bug 447271] Re: package openmpi-bin 1.3.2-3ub untu1 failed to install/upgrade: subprocesso installed p ost-installation script retornou erro do status de sa ída 2

2009-11-08 Thread Fernando Roxo

I got the same problem in a X86_64 platform. Trying to reconfigure manually I
got :

 dpkg --configure -a
Configurando openmpi-bin (1.3.2-3ubuntu1) ...
update-alternatives: error: alternativa mpiexec não pode ser principal: é uma
dependência de mpirun
dpkg: erro processando openmpi-bin (--configure):
sub-processo script post-installation instalado retornou estado de saída de
erro 2

(Ok, it is portuguese but reads :
Configuring openmpi-bin (1.3.2-3ubuntu1) ...
update-alternatives: error: alternative mpiexec cannot be principal: is a
dependency of mpirun
dpkg: error processing openmpi-bin (--configure):
sub-process script post-installation instaled returned output state error 2
)

The symlink /etc/alternatives/mpiexec pointed to LAM mpiexec.
Removing LAM packages solved the problem.

My suggestoin is that OpenMPI and LAM should conflict to avoit this kind
of error.

Yes, I forgot to mention that i am using likewise-open to join an active

On Mon, Nov 2, 2009 at 4:14 PM, Alex Mauer ha...@hawkesnest.net wrote:

The apparmor change worked for me.

One noteworthy situation on my system at least is that I am using
likewise-open to join an active directory domain. So this means that
instead of /home/$USER/, the user directories are at
/home/WINDOMAIN/$USER/ I don’t know if this is the case for Fernando
Sancho or pato101, but I’m fairly sure that’s the culprit for me.

[Bug 392872] [NEW] Lost functionality: Some webs doen't look the same in FF-3.5 compared to FF-3.0.11

2009-06-27 Thread Fernando D.
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: firefox-3.5

I don't know how technically explain that, but some webs with
information icons on it doesn't show then, so you can't select theese
icons.

The best example I can show is this page with geographical information,
in which FF-3.0.11 shows correctly and FF-3.5 rc2 don't.

http://callejero.paginasamarillas.es/vemaps/mapa.asp?l1=Calle%20de%20Goya,%2055,%2028001%20Madrid%20%28M%29lat=40.4250210178541lon=-3.681466839995prov=Comunidad%20de%20Madridloca=Madridcalle=de%20Goyatv=Callenu=55mode=nsite=callejero

1/2) My FF and Ubuntu versions are this:
Firefox 3.5~rc2+nobinonly-0ubuntu2~umd1~jaunty
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.1) Gecko/20090622 Ubuntu/9.04
(jaunty) Shiretoko/3.5

3) Expected behavior: To show the same icons that FF-3.0.11

4) What happened instead: No icons to click and no info while using the
mouse over them

---
Notes: Don't know if this a Javascript problem, I've attached an OpenOffice
document with screen captures. No-Script plugin is disabled.

[Bug 397211] Re: Shiretoko user agent string breaks compatibilty with major websites

2009-07-19 Thread Fernando D.
If sites must update the codename every time that is a new version of Firefox
or other browsers, it will be a nightmare.
Why should anyone care about codenames? And what is the Agent string
meaningless then?

OpenOffice.org 3.0 RC 1 is out. Will be any possibility to have it here for

Any way RC 2 is expected for September 12th. :-)

Re: [Bug 13713] Re: bug-buddy should propose installing dbg packages when available

2007-02-07 Thread Fernando Herrera
I don't know why you do mail me about ubuntu switching to some
in-house solution.

I've been discussing the missing debug info with the GNOME community
for a while. We have talked a lot about it (blogs, mailing lists,
GNOME summit), and then plan was use airbag library on client side to
create minidumps and build a server infrastructure fetching
packages+debuginfo and using airbag to populate minidumps files with
nice rich debug information.

I've talked to the Ubuntu community several times to join efforts in a
cross-distribution/platform solution.

Salu2

I have tested the gnome-vfs2 (2.16.2-0ubuntu1) package on edgy and
it really fix this issue.

 - Allow operations on file handles that were created in another
DaemonConnection. (This fixes e.g. smb browsing) (Ubuntu: #60277)

[Bug 60277] Re: Windows Network entries use a text icon instead of a computer one

2006-11-26 Thread Fernando Ribeiro
I have only downloaded and installed gnome-vfs2 (2.16.2-0ubuntu1),
gnomevfs2-common(2.16.2-0ubuntu1) and new libc6 from feisty repository.

I look 2.16.3 available now, but i don't have tested this version yet.

Already I spoke with MOTUs to check if this fix can to be fixed on
stable release (edgy).

I think that it's better to associate by default the pcx format with eye
of gnome (Eog), which is capable of displaying it, also pretty much all
of other images are already opened with eog.
