To cross check what typ of connection that you have (in windows) use command line Windows plus R type cmd or command and enter and use the "ipconfig -all" command this will give you all the detaisl you require to cross check Another more advanced method - which allows you to fiddle around with the BSNL router itself is to type http://192.168.0.1 (the normal default ip address of the router) in your web browser this will lead you to an interface of the router the exact ip of the bsnl router can be got from your ipconfig command the same method can be used in Ubuntu as well. ram -- ubuntu-in mailing list ubuntu-in@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-in

In addition to regular releases, the Ubuntu team may make an Enterprise Release, also known as a 'Long Term Support (LTS)' Release, that has received additional stabilisation, polish and translation work. These Enterprise Releases will be supported for a longer period of time than the standard 18 month support of the time-based Releases. Upgrades will be supported from Enterprise Release to Enterprise Release. and about Hardy heron https://wiki.ubuntu.com/HardyHeron ram -- ubuntu-in mailing list ubuntu-in@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-in

[...] Try the alternate install CD from the bottom of http://releases.ubuntu.com/7.10/ In fact, I have so much better luck with this, that when installing I go straight to the alternate install CD. Re: [ubuntu-in] how to get sify broadband in ubuntu7.10
single voice may not be effective to wake BSNL or Sify. Anyway, the time i had sify, I used to do, login in Windows, connect Sify, then remove the Network wire, adn restart the comp. in Linux and there you go. *** Since sify has static MAC-IP list based connection, so please be sure that your Network Interface Card has not been assigned different MAC Addr by yourself. The sify client binaries available is a pain in *donkey*. That installs, you need to configure it as a service, run it with lot stupid step to find the cooonection which keeps breaking in just 5 mins or less. and maybe that linux client is now old enough to try, since Sify has revised the method and released newwer version of the client. The OVERALL thing is: sift really sucks. Even in connection quality, help, maintinance and most prominently Linux support. Even Window$ support is worst in sify. [ubuntu-in] install CD without LiveCD
Hello All Is there a Ubuntu 7.10 Gutsy CD with install CD but without LiveCD available? Yesterday I started to install that on an old Toshiba Laptop (PIII-600 MHz, 192MB RAM) and it took so long to get out of the liveCD mode that I gave up and installed OpenSuSE 10.3 instead and it installed much more quickly. And now I am installing same Ubuntu on a 256 MB RAM Athlon 2000 and it is taking more than 10 minutes to cross the first step of install. I am installing from the original Ubuntu Gutsy 7.10 received from shipit. Sincerely and thanks in advance Moz -- ubuntu-in mailing list ubuntu-in@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-in
