Re: [ubuntu-in] Some more problems with Hindi and openoffice
Have you set the Complex Text/Language Layout setup in OOO? -Pavanaja -Original Message- From: ubuntu-in-boun...@lists.ubuntu.com [mailto:ubuntu-in-boun...@lists.ubuntu.com] On Behalf Of ramnaraya...@gmail.com Sent: Saturday, December 27, 2008 5:45 PM To: Ubuntu India Local Community Subject: [ubuntu-in] Some more problems with Hindi and openoffice Hi am facing some problems with using hindi (Devanagari) while typing out open office documents main problem - when i use the keyboard indicator icon to switch between English and hindi (Ind wallah) the writing begins all right - but if i make any changes in the font - like bold, italics, underline then the typed material gets converted into blocks. To rectify this i have to select the text and choose Lohit Hindi font to make it visible again. Second if i type a document and don't use bolding, italics or underline but keep the font option to ooo.org's default then it appears on the screen but while printing it appears as block characters, again to rectify this i need to select the content and change the font to Lohit Hindi So whats this problem and how can i get a permanent solution. Am wondering if there is any way open office (or my system) knows i am typing in hindi and automatically selects Lohit Hindi (or any other Unicode font) for the duration that keyboard selection remains at Ind(Hindi / Devanagari) Third - has any one got the open office hindi dictionary extension option working, if so what version of open office and how does it work. would appreciate your help thanks ram -- ubuntu-in mailing list ubuntu-in@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-in -- ubuntu-in mailing list ubuntu-in@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-in

[ubuntu-in] logo in the website
hi,Did anyone noticed the difference between the logos shown in the 'ubuntuin' website's header image and favicon? There is some colour changes between the two. Which is the official one?I think the logo in the favicon is the correct one, because I got a similar .png image as the source logo, from which I made some wallpapers.Wish you all a Happy New YearVinayarajhttp://vinayaraj.wordpress.comhttp://vinayarts.blogspot.comDear ubuntuin ! You have to un-install Network manager. Network Manager was new addition to 8.10. We do not have problems with DHCP connection. If it is Static IP and if you are going to set it up and reboot, what you setup will be lost. After uninstalling Network Manager, you can manually edit the /etc/network/interfaces to manually provide the details and /etc/resolv.conf to provide nameserver details. I am not sure, whether subsequent updates sent after 8.10 has fixed this problem. But if you have just installed from 8.10 this might be the case. -- Regards, Sri Ramadoss M -- ubuntu-in mailing list ubuntu-in@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-in

[...] Create a new connection by right-clicking NetworkManager, and choosing Edit Connections. Set up the appropriate class of connection (Wired, Wireless, etc.) by clicking on the Add button when in the appropriate tab. Save it under a suitable name. You will need to log out and in again (or, maybe restart Network Manager) for the new connection to show up. To activate the new connection, click on NetworkManager, and select it.
