Got a grub error after installing grub-efi-amd64-bin 2.04-1ubuntu44 during daily update/upgrade on 3/24. The message indicated the boot process may fail. When the minute expired the screen start the blank but I got a crash in gnome-shell. The screen was returned to normal and I got a bug report notification which I sent. [Bug 1896393] Re: gedit not responding to keystrokes
Trying to produce the error delay in a restrictive environment without great success. Did get gedit running on some of my c++ programs thinking maybe it was a plugin that was working. Did see that when I was looking at a line and moving the cursor with the arrow keys that there was a definite delay. As I moved the cursor across the line not every key (arrow right/left) was immediate as I would expect (system was doing nothing else). Did dump the journal at the time and passing the snippet of the time I started gedit and when I observed the delay. Will continue to try to better document this problem. Public bug reported: Don't know how to further document this except was is observed during the gedit session. While typing information into the gedit window the keystrokes get delayed 1-2 seconds from the time the keys are struct and when the character(s) show up on the screen. It's as if the system was too busy to service the key input but that doesn't appear to be the case. This problem doesn't occur on the current gedit running under 20.04. Any suggestions on how to document this problem? Have a /etc/rsyncd.conf that moves data from path = /mnt/testrsync directory on my desktop to my laptop and it works. Get one of two error indications but no error processing. cliff@cliffps:~$ gedit malloc_consolidate(): invalid chunk size Aborted (core dumped) cliff@cliffps:~$ gedit corrupted size vs. prev_size Aborted (core dumped) Calling gedit with valgrind and doing the same operations (adding three text files) results in no error indications after terminating gedit. [Bug 1666875] Re: anacron does not execute cron.daily on start or restart
Removing the ConditionACPower didn't help. Still believe that systemd starting the anacron job is the only way to get logrotate to run. If the anacron.service runs the only thing it appears to do is to run 0anacron which runs anacron -u. This only sets the date in /var/spool/anacron/cron.daily to the current date. systemd will start anacron after the first boot of the day and the system has AC power. Rebooting the system after the first boot fail to have systemd start anacron. Don't yet understand that. [Bug 1666875] Re: anacron does not execute cron.daily on start or restart
Don't fully understand the interaction between systemd-anacron-cron but in my system at boot systemd starts multi-user.target- wants/anacron.service calling anacron -dsq which should kick off a job to rotate the logs. This doesn't get started because of the ConditionACPower=true in the anacron.service file. Since always start my laptop on battery the condition is never met. [Bug 1678622] Re: Libreoffice copy paste doesn't copy calculations
It appears that there is a problem using Keepassx in Zesty. I have been using Keepassx across many release of Ubuntu and not seen this problem. I can reproduce the problem above by just having the Keepassx window open (all Keepassx setting are at default). This now makes sense for the problem being intermittent (only fails when I've started Keepassx) and the fact that Keepassx is using the copy/paste function to pass on information. Not sure what to do with this bug report since this is clearly not a Libreoffice problem, see problems in Nautilus doing copy/paste operations also. Successfully reproduce this problem on a Ubuntu-gnome 17.04 desktop. [Bug 1678622] Re: Libreoffice copy paste doesn't copy calculations
gnome-shell has nothing to do with this problem. Replaced the Ubuntu Gnome system with Ubuntu Unity and continue to have the problem in the spreadsheet, in fact fails more consistently. [Bug 1678622] Re: Libreoffice copy paste doesn't copy calculations
See this failure every day at different times after boot. When it starts to fail every cell copy/paste will fail. Just because I don't know what to do next and I know there is a memory leak problem with gnome-shell I got into the failing condition and issued "gnome-shell --replace" and the next attempted at copy/paste worked although the failure comes back the next copy/paste. This may explain why when this is failing a reboot works. Unless someone has something any suggestions to add I'm going back to 16.10 gnome. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1678622 Title: Libreoffice copy paste doesn't copy calculations To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libreoffice/+bug/1678622/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1678622] Re: Libreoffice copy paste doesn't copy calculations
Simplified failure description... Mark a single cell that has data and formula. Hit ctl-c once, move to an open cell and hit ctl-v. When this is failing the data in the marked cell is copied to the new cell but not the formula. Unmark the cell by marking any other cell and then mark the formula cell again. Hit ctl-c twice, move to an open cell and hit ctl-v. The formula is copied, adjusted and cell content recalculated. While this was failing tried to copy formula to multiple cells... Marked the formula cell, ctl-c once, marked 3 cells one column over, ctl-v. The data in the formula cell was copied to the first target cell and the other cells left blank. Formula not copied. Mark the formula cell, ctl-c twice, mark 3 cells one column over, ctl-v. Operation worked as expected. Formulas copied, adjusted, and cells recalculated. Had to reboot this laptop and the failure is gone again. I was failing every time and on all the spreadsheets I tried. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1678622 Title: Libreoffice copy paste doesn't copy calculations To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libreoffice/+bug/1678622/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1678622] Re: Libreoffice copy paste doesn't copy calculations
Tried many times to reproduce this problem since my last append and it did come back. There are three methods to copy/paste. Using ctl-c/ctl-v, the copy/paste icons, and the edit pull-down. Each method results in the same failure. I mark a number of cells to be copied, do the copy, move to a target cell, and then paste. Every time when this is failing I get an "Import Text" menu box. Entering OK to this box copies only the text information not any calculations. This box should not come up. If I mark cells, copy, copy (using any of the three methods), then paste the operation works correctly (no "Import Text" box displayed). I don't know what to try next to document this failure. Any suggestions? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1678622 Title: Libreoffice copy paste doesn't copy calculations To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/libreoffice/+bug/1678622/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1678622] Re: Libreoffice copy paste doesn't copy calculations
Interesting. Tried again on my laptop to do a copy/paste and had the failure. Marked the cells to be copied and hit ctl-c. Moved to open area and hit ctl-v and this opened a "text import" box (which is not normal) and after hitting OK the cells where copied but did not include any calcs. Have the same Ubuntu/Libreoffice level and spreadsheets on a desktop and when I tried to reproduce this problem I could not. Back to the laptop. Tried and was able to reproduce the problem every time and then rebooted to Ubuntu 16.10. The spreadsheet file is the same but under 16.10 I could not reproduce on the laptop. Rebooted to 17.04 and tried the same steps that failed every time before but could not reproduce the problem. Don't feel this is a hardware problem since it was so consistent under Libreoffice (tried many times just to understand what was going on) but don't see problems under other problems under other applications. Also as I said using the copy/paste icons resulted in the same failure as the using the ctl-c/ctl-v. Right now do not have a problem but will continue to try to reproduce.

Public bug reported: When doing a copy/paste of rows only the text information is copied (a "Text Import" dialog box is displayed which normally wasn't before).
