Hello Robert, El jue, 16-06-2011 a las 09:47 +1000, Robert Ancell escribió: Nice work! I'd recommend adding a Development tab that tracks development packages. I had this problem with the versions page in that it automatically tracks packages on the CD, but not the packages that were used to build them. Things like intltool which are just as critical as the applications we deliver, but often get forgotten about. I've grabbed a list of packages from jhbuild bootstrap and created that section with things like automake, libtool, intltool, gettext, etc. I think I'll refine the search though because no bugs are listed there so I'll be less strict with that section. Reports for Desktop Bugs
Hello folks, During the last week I've been working on writing some reports for the desktop team using launchpadlib, I've added the link of the prototype to yesterday Meeting and in case you missed it, please have a look to: http://people.canonical.com/~pedro/desktop/ This is a launchpadlib script and its updated every two hours. The basic purpose of the pages is to have a central place where you can look for bugs having a high heat (good quantity of dups and users affected) also every bug marked as High or Critical is being listed there, right now it has 5 categories: * Desktop Bugs: all the bugs of packages being tracked on https://bugs.launchpad.net/~desktop-bugs/+packagebugs * Other Packages: Gwibber, Telepathy*, Network-Manager, etc (look at the page for full list) * Compiz: Bugs just for compiz. * Unity: unity, nux, unity-place-applications, unity-place-files. * Mozilla : Thunderbird and Firefox. There's an extra category: Assigned Bugs , which basically lists all the bugs assigned to the canonical-desktop-team or to any of the members of it. Please review the page and let me know what you'd like to include, remove, etc. If I'm missing a package you're looking please also tell me and if you'd like to have a separate category (ie: Messaging for empathy+telepathy bugs) also tell me so i can create it. I'll rework on the code of it and hopefully move it to ~platform/desktop. Looking forward to your feedback!. Have a nice day!, pedro. -- ubuntu-desktop mailing list ubuntu-desktop@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-desktop

Re: Reassigning apport bugs to dbus
Hello Scott, On Tue, 2009-08-25 at 12:52 +0100, Scott James Remnant wrote: Hi Pedro and folks, Please don't just reassign apport bugs to dbus because the top entries in a stack trace are from libdbus. Like any library, libdbus will crash if it's given invalid data. As an extreme example, strlen (0) will crash inside libc's strlen() function - but it's obviously not a libc bug. libdbus is more complicated, so the patterns aren't quite that obvious, but it's the same theory. A good way to tell whether something is a libdbus bug, or a bug in an application, is that libdbus is used by a large number of applications - so you'd expect multiple applications to produce the same basic trace. If you have apport bugs in 20 different applications (e.g. HAL, Network Manager, Upstart, etc.), all with a similar or identical stack traces ending in libdbus, you've probably got a libdbus bug. If you have 20 apport bugs in the same application (e.g. evolution-data-server), all with different (or even similar) stack traces ending in libdbus, you've probably got a bug in that application. I was not sure if that really was a bug in the app or in dbus that's why I've assigning some of those there, thanks for having a look at the reports btw. I am, as ever, quite happy to be grabbed on IRC to take a look at a bug. However I'm afraid I must be grumpy, and will reassign any bugs reassigned to dbus *without an explanation as to why you think they are a dbus bug, not a bug in that application* back to the application. Will ping you if have further doubts about those kind of crashes, thanks for the explanation. Hug Day - 07 February 2008
Hello Ubuntu Lovers, In addition to the Hug Days of the Tuesdays, we'll held another Hug Day the Thursdays of the next weeks they'll be based on Desktop packages, the package elected for this week is the Evolution email client: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuBugDay/20080207 Our goal is to deal with all of the bugs on that list. Who can join the Hug Day? Everyone. You don't need to be a developer. You don't need to know to code. Everyone is welcome. If you don't know how to help, then just come and we'll explain you everything. In a Bug Day, you can * work in a nice team, * make sure the bug reporters' concerns are heard, * gather all the information needed so developers can fix bugs, * close useless bugs, * find out where the bugs come from, and eventually * work together with upstream to make changes happen, * get experience in hacking and fixing bugs. Where to join the Hug Day? #ubuntu-bugs on freenode IRC. And you can go there every other day too! When to join the Hug Day? Next hug day is on February Thursday 07, 2008 In all timezones. But again, you can go there every day and help with triaging the bug tracking systems. While you are welcome to apply to join the Ubuntu Bug Control team at anytime, Hug Day is a great day to join! https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UbuntuBugControl If you're interested in helping to make the next release of Ubuntu even better - please stop by. And feel free to ask bdmurray, ogasawara, pedro, heno and the rest of the team for ways to help out. We hope to see you there and your name on the list of bug triagers!
