[Bug 223103] Re: Multimedia playback broken with pulseaudio and alsa

2009-06-09 Thread fuelthefire99
Sound works without any tweaks using 9.04 and stays connected to pulse
with my m2496 card. I still receive some pops/clicks in the sound when 2
programs compete. For example, using rhythmbox for music and pidgin
receives a message and makes a sound it will click as it plays both. As
far as this bug report, pulse seems to work with pulse audio now without
any major problems.

[Bug 379651] [NEW] snd-atiixp module glitching

2009-05-23 Thread fuelthefire99
Public bug reported:

I have a fresh install of Ubuntu 9.04 on a Toshiba L25 S121 laptop using
the snd-atiixp module. After playing a sound it will play it fine for up
to 15 seconds then start echoing and glitching repeatedly until killed.

I've received these errors
ati IXP rev2 unknown codec

lspci states that its loaded but its capability is
access denied

I've followed guides for this problem for similar laptops with no luck
i.e. snd-atiixp ac97_codec=0 in /etc/modprobe.d/alsabase.conf
and adding myself to the pulse audio related groups and using padevchooser to
make sure everything is set.

I've been searching the forums for a solution for days with no luck. Any
other information to a fix for this I would be glad to give. Thanks in
advance.

[Bug 379667] [NEW] emptying trash hardlocks system

Whenever I try to empty my trash my system will hard lock and I am
forced to restart my computer with the reset button. I'm using ext4

bug, I'm not sure where to start but bug is fully reproducible on my
system.

[Bug 379667] Re: emptying trash hardlocks system

2009-05-23 Thread fuelthefire99
using the terminal:
#cd /home/user/.local/share/Trash/info/
#rm file names

I was able to get rid of everything in my trash, but 1 file would still
display in the nautilus trash:///. I used the 'empty trash' button which
deleted the lone file and froze my computer right after. On restart
trash is emptied and I am able to use the trash like normal. I'm not
sure what was wrong with that one file, I had read/write permissions and
everything.

Problem solved I suppose.

2009-05-23 Thread fuelthefire99
*** This bug is a duplicate of bug 336965 ***
https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/336965

If i remove tsched=0 from load-module module-hal-detect in
/etc/pulse/default.pa to re-enable glitch free audio it resolves my
problem leaving me with only skips at the end of audio files. It is
annoying and can most likely be resolved with some tweaking but its
better then no audio at all. I'm not sure if this is the best way to fix
this problem but it seems like a step in the right direction.

[Bug 354967] Re: pidgin crashes after extended use

2009-05-21 Thread fuelthefire99
I would like to reopen this bug, It's the same as before but less important.
If I have pidgin running and my computer goes to a screen saver when I come
back pidgin will be using way to much cpu (20ish %) which makes my computer run
sluggish until I kill pidgin and start it again. I can still use pidgin just
fine while its doing this and it wont crash which is better then before, but
there must be a leak or something in the program.

I haven't found a way to prove this is happening. using pidgin -d for
example. It will always just say that I killed it but doesn't mention
the cpu usage or anything relevant.

This reproduces every time I'm running pidgin and my computer goes to
screensaver. Any advice on how to get the information for debugging this
out would be appreciated.

I don't know about more stable, I've had experience with it when it wont

consistent and can only assume it will become more consistent in time.
Did you get the Nvidia driver working though?

At the top of your choose SystemAdministrationSynaptic. In Synaptic
choose search, type Nvidia. Select Nvidia-glx-180. Allow it to use any
other files it recommends. Click apply. After it installs, restart your

The terminal method would be
#sudo apt-get install nvidia-glx-180

[Bug 339357] Re: gnome-panel apps wont allow volume controls

2009-04-09 Thread fuelthefire99
today after updating, the volume control showed up and it is fully
usable on my computer. However after clicking it, it looks weird because
it zooms in like a new window (compiz zoom effect) rather then just
poping up like how the network status icon does when clicked. I suppose
that is a whole different problem though :) thank you to the devs who
got this working.

[Bug 339357] Re: gnome-panel apps wont allow volume controls

2009-03-20 Thread fuelthefire99
I'm using The DarkRoom theme with original settings (icons, etc). I
checked my logs, including .xsession-errors and none showed an error
about this. It seems like its working but the icon is not showing up,
which after a restart glitches the gnome-panel out and I have to kill
it. After killing the panel it seems to work fine again minus the
volume-applet not working.

[Bug 345941] [NEW] gnome-do search icon low-res

The search icon for Gnome-Do (the first icon you see after 'super-

Yes I can reproduce this at any time. I can drag or click add to panel
and neither are effective. The volume applet will not display on my
panel even when creating a new panel. After restarting the panel
occasionally I will see a little line which I believe is symbolising
where the applet should be located. I am unable to alter or move this
little line or multiple lines if I have tried several time to add it.

[Bug 336672] Re: screensaver steals focus - nvidia 180

2009-03-04 Thread fuelthefire99
also on amd64...

My work around was switching to nvidia 173 and disabling the
screensaver, you could then go back to nvidia 180 if you chose. I
however stayed on 173 till it becomes more stable as I stated in the bug
report.

 @Steve Enzer
sudo killall gnome-screensaver

I haven't tested this method but it's claimed to work
#To disable the screensaver:
gconftool-2 -s /apps/gnome-screensaver/idle_activation_enabled --type=bool false

#To disable monitor sleeping:
gconftool-2 -s /apps/gnome-power-manager/ac_sleep_display --type=int 0

I hope that helped somewhat

Opening screensaver preferences will lock with the 3d screen saver
section still running, If the screensaver turns on it will hold focus
and will let you alt-tab between apps while regaining focus after

 Bug description:
 Binary package hint: pulseaudio

After upgrading to Ubuntu 8.04, Multimedia playback will stop working after
a seemingly random period of time. This happens with both Audio and Video
playback and in both Totem and Mplayer that I have observed so far.

At the time multimedia playback stops there is a corresponding log message
 in syslog.

pulseaudio[14155]: module-alsa-sink.c: Got POLLERR from ALSA

See attached file for extract of syslog.

The only way to restore playback is to re-initialise the alsa kernel module
for the sound card (usb-audio in my case).
Once this is done, playback continues as expected.

I was not sure if this is an ALSA bug or a pulseaudio bug. Please reassign
if it is in the wrong section.

[Bug 292428] Re: [Ubuntu 8.10] Can't have sound with PulseAudio at M-AUDIO Audiophile 2496 soundcard

2008-11-02 Thread fuelthefire99
same here, Sound works when i enter gdm because it doesn't use pulse, if
i kill pulse i can get sound using only alsa. I tried upgrading to 9.13
from the default 9.10 and it would work under failsafe gnome but errors
at login under default gnome complaining about pulse-session. I have
followed the guides to get pulseaudio working perfect and have had it
working in the past on alpha-beta builds of 8.10 but no luck on the
fresh install. My understanding is that because this card does not have
a PCM control it confuses pulse. Editing the default.pa file doesn't
seem to be noticed when changed to use m2496. changing the sink under
padevchoser to m2496 or the device_id provided by the working 9.13 just
crashes 9.10. asoundconf changes also dont help, alsa is perfect but
there is something going on with pa9.10.

side note, when i plug a uvc webcam in pulse will recognize it and try
to use the mic as the default sound card but will not acknowledge m2496.
suggestions?

[Bug 182957] Re: Pulse audio applet not needed

2008-10-18 Thread fuelthefire99
I'm curious, under the volume control applet, when you right
clickvolume control, why doesn't it go to the much nicer/feature filled
pulseaudio volume control rather then the default 'gnome' one. Could
this be changed to default since pulse is standard across ubuntu now?
Possibly just add the pulseaudio applet to the add to panel chooser
for applets as an alternative. Thanks for reading my suggestion :)

play time. I can reproduce this as many times as possible, it happens
anytime i use rhythmbox after the last pulseaudio update. I think it was a
day or two ago. But i listed the version number of pulse I am using.

If there is some specific information you would like me to gather just let

[Bug 260083] Re: search utility

2008-08-21 Thread fuelthefire99
Another wishlist for search utility would be after typing a search, if
you backspace to a blank it should return you to the last artist/album
that you clicked on or atleast the current playing track
artist/album/track.
