[Bug 2052961] Re: Error: OCI runtime error: crun: chmod : Operation not supported
Still any news yet? I want to emphasize that two updates to two Ubuntu LTS versions broke the one of the main features of the preferred container runtime on Ubuntu (over docker). Hi @all, a colleague of mine also experienced the same problem with Ubuntu linux kernel version 5.15.0-101 (on Ubuntu 22.04). The patch I made (ignore_enotsup_when_chmod_a_symlink.patch) fixes also this problem. [Bug 2058118] [NEW] CPU usage too high. System either stops for a minute or greatly lags
Public bug reported: CPU usage for gnome-shell skyrockets 25% to over 125%. System stops for a minute or longer. Other times everything lags and stutters. 1. Does not matter if I use X.org or Nvidia (470 tested release for my GT720 card with two monitors). 2. Turning Gnome Extensions on and off doesn't help. 3. Using Ubuntu 23.10.Updated regularly. 4. This issue started about 7 months ago. I expect the halts and stutters to go away. Nothing has helped so far. I mostly use Firefox 123.0.1, logseq 0.10.7, US Gov weather, Nautilus, LibreOffice Writer, Thunderbird Email, gedit and text editor (gnome) and VS Code + Rust 1.76. Doesn't matter on using or not using any of these apps. I usually have 4-5 workspaces over my two monitors. Kindly advise. Glad to help if I can. What else would you like to know? [Bug 1968335] [NEW] apparmor profile needs extension
Public bug reported: Hi team, I've tried to create a socket activated systemd service for supplying a software tpm for qemu. As it didn't worked I recognized that the swtpm package ships an apparmor profile. To make it work i've to add a read/write/lock permission for the tpm's nvram folder and a read/write permission for the tpm's unix socket used for the connection with qemu. Since there is no default location for the tpm nvram (correct?) I suggest using "/var/lib/swtpm" which follows the /var/lib/ convention. Since there is no default location for the tpm unix socket I suggest using "/run/swtpm/sock" which follows the systemd.socket unit conventions A patch which adds the settings is attached to this message. But it apppears any write I/O will hang the terminal and nothing is written to syslog (presumably because it is blocked). [Bug 1942935] Re: kernel io hangs during mdcheck/resync
The patch hasn't made it into mainline from what I have seen, it looks like it died back in March waiting for feedback from additional kernel developers. From what I have gathered this is a deadlock scenario directly caused by pausing the resync while the system is under heavy write activity. Donald Buczek provided a reproducer which is a shell script that generates a lot of write activity and pauses/resumes the raid scrubbing. And he also provided a workaround to get the stuck system running without reboot: echo active > /sys/block/md1/md/array_state I haven't tried the patch or any of this, I pretty much eliminated the trigger which is mdcheck_start & mdcheck_continue and went back to the 18.04 LTS way of scrubbing arrays (which is basically don't pause/interrupt it once it starts). I ran through a checkarray yesterday to 100%, no problems. Meanwhile since upgrading to 20.04 LTS it has hung almost every single time through 5.4, 5.8, and 5.11 kernels. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1942935 Title: kernel io hangs during mdcheck/resync To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-signed-hwe-5.11/+bug/1942935/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

Similar report here on 5.10.0-rc4: https://www.spinics.net/lists/raid/msg66654.html I ended up masking the services introduced with 20.04 LTS, and switched back the crontab. systemctl mask mdcheck_continue.service mdcheck_continue.timer mdcheck_start.service mdcheck_start.timer cat > /etc/cron.d/mdadm << 'EOF' # # cron.d/mdadm -- schedules periodic redundancy checks of MD devices # # Copyright © martin f. krafft # distributed under the terms of the Artistic Licence 2.0 # # By default, run at 00:57 on every Sunday, but do nothing unless the day of # the month is less than or equal to 7. [Bug 1942935] Re: kernel io hangs during mdcheck/resync
Hi Kleber, I installed it later yesterday, but I won't know until the next resync. This has been a problem since at least linux 5.4 kernel that shipped with Ubuntu 20.04. I don't think I had these problems on Ubuntu 18.04 LTS, the same hardware, running the linux-image-generic at that time.

[Bug 1942935] [NEW] kernel io hangs during mdcheck/resync
Public bug reported: It seems to always occur during an mdcheck/resync, if I am logged in via SSH it is still somewhat responsive and basic utilities like dmesg will work. But it apppears any write I/O will hang the terminal and nothing is written to syslog (presumably because it is blocked). Below is output of dmesg and cat /proc/mdstat, it appears the data check was interrupted and /proc/mdstat still shows progress, and a whole slew of hung tasks including md1_resync itself. [Bug 1916778] Re: After 5.4.0-66 kernel upgrade, HP Spectre screen flickers
apport information ** Description changed: OS: Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS Kernel: Linux 5.4.0-66-generic (X86_64) Version: #74-Ubuntu SMP Wed Jan 27 22:54:38 UTC 2021 -Display- Resolution: 3840x2160 pixels Vendor: The X.Org Foundation Version : 1.20.9 Current Display Name : :0 -Monitors- Monitor 0 : 3840x2160 pixels Renderer : Mesa Intel(R) UHD Graphics 620 (KBL GT2) Version : 4.6 (Compatibility Profile) Mesa 20.2.6 Direct Rendering : Yes -Memory- MemTotal Total Memory16143780 KiB MemFree Free Memory 4441688 KiB After installing the latest Ubuntu kernel update, the screen of my HP Spectre laptop began flickering into distorted illegibility at frequent -- but unpredictable -- intervals. The machine is unusable when this occurs. Additionally, GIMP has begun crashing unpredictably. I have rebooted many times. I have changed the display drivers (currently using the X.org driver). None of this has affected the problem. I have searched online for possible fixes, and found nothing useful. HP's "support" is useless, since they only deal with Windows. StackExchange referred me to this site. I hope I have reported correctly. Thank you. --- ProblemType: Bug ApportVersion: 2.20.11-0ubuntu27.16 Architecture: amd64 AudioDevicesInUse: USERPID ACCESS COMMAND /dev/snd/controlC0: jiw2 5028 F pulseaudio /dev/snd/pcmC0D0p: jiw2 5028 F...m pulseaudio CasperMD5CheckResult: skip CurrentDesktop: ubuntu:GNOME DistroRelease: Ubuntu 20.04 InstallationDate: Installed on 2018-11-17 (830 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 18.04.1 LTS "Bionic Beaver" - Release amd64 (20180725) Lsusb: Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0003 Linux Foundation 3.0 root hub Bus 001 Device 003: ID 8087:0025 Intel Corp. Re: [Bug 1916778] Re: After 5.4.0-66 kernel upgrade, HP Spectre screen flickers
Okay, I understand that I need to change the bug status to "Confirmed." But I'm still not clear how. The problem appeared after I installed the latest kernel upgrade, not a specific package. Sorry if I'm being particularly obtuse about this, but I'm still not entirely sure how to give you the information you need. --John From: boun...@canonical.com on behalf of Ubuntu Foundations Team Bug Bot <1916...@bugs.launchpad.net> Sent: Wednesday, February 24, 2021 3:25 PM To: Wagner, John I Subject: [Bug 1916778] Re: After 5.4.0-66 kernel upgrade, HP Spectre screen flickers Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. [Bug 1916778] Re: After 5.4.0-66 kernel upgrade, HP Spectre screen flickers
Friday, Feb. 26, 2021 Followup: As an experiment, I turned off my Logitech bluetooth mouse and connected an old Logitech USB mouse. It made no difference. I took things a step further, and connected an external display to the machine (a Dell 19" flatscreen monitor). No flickering; the external display is normal. The problem appears to be in the driver for the built-in monitor. I shold also note that when the machine is in the BIOS, there is no display problem, which, I believe, rules out a video-card failure. --John -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1916778 Title: After 5.4.0-66 kernel upgrade, HP Spectre screen flickers To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1916778/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
[Bug 1916778] Re: After 5.4.0-66 kernel upgrade, HP Spectre screen flickers
Friday, Feb. 26, 2021 Followup. Yesterday, 2/25/2021, my machine was free of errors. I had no illusions that my screen problem had miraculously gone away, and I was right. This morning, 2/26/2021, I found the following errors: 1: My scheduled nightly backup (to an external USB disk) had not happened. 2: The screen-scrambling problem returned. 3: The machine did not blank its screen after 15 minutes, as it is configured to do. 4: Although my temperature monitor did not report anything unusual, the machine was running noticeably warmer than usual. 5: The Bluetooth drivers were not loading, leaving my Bluetooth mouse unusable. 6: The screen breaks up and becomes unusable at approximately 20-second intervals. (I am typing this during the moments of usability). I had to reboot and/or pause the machine in order to suppress the video problem to the extent that I am able to file this comment. Several times it went into Pause mode spontaneously. The periods of screen unusability are becoming longer. Please advise me when any further developments appear.

[Bug 1916778] [NEW] After 5.4.0-66 kernel upgrade, HP Spectre screen flickers
Public bug reported: OS: Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS Kernel: Linux 5.4.0-66-generic (X86_64) Version: #74-Ubuntu SMP Wed Jan 27 22:54:38 UTC 2021 -Display- Resolution : 3840x2160 pixels Vendor : The X.Org Foundation Version : 1.20.9 Current Display Name: :0 -Monitors- Monitor 0 : 3840x2160 pixels Renderer: Mesa Intel(R) UHD Graphics 620 (KBL GT2) Version : 4.6 (Compatibility Profile) Mesa 20.2.6 Direct Rendering: Yes -Memory- MemTotalTotal Memory16143780 KiB MemFree Free Memory 4441688 KiB After installing the latest Ubuntu kernel update, the screen of my HP Spectre laptop began flickering into distorted illegibility at frequent -- but unpredictable -- intervals. Thank you. ** Affects: ubuntu Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1916778 Title: After 5.4.0-66 kernel upgrade, HP Spectre screen flickers To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1916778/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs

[Bug 1909264] Re: Problem with ‘mysql-server-core-8.0_8.0.22-0ubuntu0.20.04.3_armhf.deb
I completed the build from source and discovered that the problem lies with the cmake/make rules from Oracle as the build from source resulted in the build of myself as a shared object instead of an executable. My apology. The "bot* wouldn't accept the package as valid, but I downloaded it from a Ubuntu server. The problem belongs to whomever (cross)compiled the code and added it to the package. I also notified the mirror manager. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Bugs, which is subscribed to Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1909264 Title: Problem with ‘mysql-server-core-8.0_8.0.22-0ubuntu0.20.04.3_armhf.deb To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+bug/1909264/+subscriptions -- ubuntu-bugs mailing list ubuntu-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-bugs
