Re: [ubuntu-in] gOS

to me it seems just a stripped down version of ubuntu targetted to first
time users.thats the market its getting popular in, in the US.
but its focus on google is what i liked. because i'm looking forward to the
time when the OS you use is unimportant and you live off the web.
its a move in the right direction but needs to work on it a lot.

I downloaded and installed it sometime back. its has google apps available
for easy access. for stuff like gmail, it just opens up the webpage plus it
has awn manager preinstalled otherwise its almost the same as ubuntu, so i
went back to the original Ubuntu within a few hours of installing it. I
don't understand the point of calling it a separate operating system when
its just the same.

I have used it for very little time but not satisfactory to change from
Gnome to enlightenment, basically it(enlightenment) works like KDE (i felt
like konqueror while browsing files and folders)

I think there are two versions one uses Gnome other enlightenment (not very
sure). look and feel enlightenment is good but while using it will be quiet
different wrt Gnome, but it is quiet fast.

2008-09-27 Thread Fabian Enos
gOS is one of those operating systems that is built for an
integratinon with the internet which can be seen in the abundance of
google applications available.

Though its new and all, has anybody on the list actually used it? Or
is it like a shiny sports car that you wont want to take for a spin?
