I do believe on the Ubuntu main page Canonical Store under accessories there are sticker packs with those types of stickers. This link should take you there. Have fun !!! Re: [ubuntu-marketing] Creating Viral Videos - Who's interested? (Jason)
Paul from what I understand and I sort of summarise what others have said... What the Windows 7 advertisments are trying to communicate by saying "I'm a PC and Windows 7 was my Idea" is that the developers of windows actually listen to their end users. It puts power in the users hands by saying "I did it". Windows 7 users start to feel that they are an important part of the brand and the software development process and on some psychological level own the software :)... Most large companies will go to great extents to find out what their customers want. By creating this environment of "we are listening" and "its all about you" they win people's hearts and generate a healthy feedback mechanise where the end users tell the developer the sort of features they want to see :)... This is great market research for the devloper And the amazing feeling of contributing to something is what keeps users loyal to the brand. Very much like what open source software does... Just my 20cents worth hehehe... -- ubuntu-marketing mailing list ubuntu-marketing@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-marketing
Re: [ubuntu-marketing] ubuntu-marketing Digest, Vol 47, Issue 1
I believe the most important piece is simply getting materials prepared for use by the loco's. We need some professional looking PDF posters that can be printed and posted by users to encourage usage. Things like a 30 second video ad would also be helpful for some of the bigger loco's looking to do some web or tv advertising. We need to have these materials prepared and then the loco's and the users can look at funding the ad properties and distributing the materials. [ubuntu-marketing] Countdown Script
I was just noticing that the countdown script that I put on my site to countdown to Ubuntu 8.04 says "Ubuntu 8.04 LTS Coming Soon." I don't know who is in charge of the countdown script, but initially after the Hardy release the script said that Ubuntu 8.04 "is here", so I left it on my site as an advertisement for Ubuntu. I removed it from my site for the time being, but I thought someone might want to take a look at that and fix it, assuming someone within the marketing committee is in charge of that. http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/countdown Jason Corfman -- ubuntu-marketing mailing list ubuntu-marketing@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-marketing

Re: [ubuntu-marketing] IdeaStorm Ideas
Not sure Gobuntu will work for dell. I would suspect existing contracts with suppliers may limit their ability to use fully open source drivers. Throw in the r&d costs for relyability, and a system that likely wont see much of any market penetration and i wouldnt hold your breath. Same problem goes for their printers and other hardware. Hopefully they are using their clout to push on manufacturers but ultimately all open drivers are not very realistic in the near future. Re: [ubuntu-marketing] Marketing Team Meeting Summary
Hello to everyone, I'm new to both Ubuntu and the Marketing Team so maybe my insight to this issue is incomplete. I've been using various flavors of linux for about 6 to 7 years now. As my job has changed so has my knowledge of linux and unix. I discovered Ubuntu about a year ago and really fell for it enough that I wanted to play a larger part in "spreading the word." Because my activism in the open source community is non-existent I wanted to ease into the process as a sort of spectator. All of these emails back and forth seem to want to thwart that idea. Have you all forgotten what it was like to be new to something as special as ubuntu? Or were all of you weened on linux? Don't invoke some method to remove people. In the end it will only prove to be counter-productive. Why take the chance of alienating someone that could do great things for the community in the future? I realize that my usage of the term "all" is not fair. Not everyone is sold on this idea. But this is most certainly a turn down the wrong road. Community is supposed to be accepting and helpful. You shouldn't be thinking of ways to thin the list, but rather ways to further insight members to become more active. If this sort of thinking continues I will certainly be less inclined to participate and would even consider letting my account lapse so that I wouldn't need to go through the trouble of disassociating myself from this effort. [ubuntu-marketing] Booth, Flyers, Speakers, Sponsors requested for September...
If you haven't heard all ready I am organizing a huge (up to 300 people) at Helia University of Applied Science in Helsinki on Free software day, September 15th this year. ##To give you and update... I still don't have a speaker for Ubuntu(except for me) I am begging for a representative or someone in the area of Helsinki to speak to an English audience of students and teachers about Ubuntu linux. ##BOOTH me up! I am also having booth area available for use from companies that I choose. Ubuntu is on the top of this list. If there is some booth or someone who would like to help with this please email me. ##Paper work... the good kind... I am gathering paperwork about linux and free software. In addition I have 95 Ubuntu CD's and plan to get some more to pass around to anyone at Helia for the week of September 15th. I would like some posters, fliers, or other items that would help with the event. Heck, if Mr. Shuttleworth is willing to sponsor all this go for it! The event is free for students and we are encouraging all students and teachers to come. ##Clothing... I don't have any good clothes for the event(besides a shirt and tie)... care to lend a shirt, cap, bag, or other what not? I am low on cash and purchasing clothes in Finland is far to expensive! All dates are now very solid, unless I get sponsor ship from Ubuntu and they ask me to change things. :) But speaking time and other items are all still very flexible. The school staff are excited about the event as they have never had something like this come from a student. Anyone willing to help may contact me in any of the ways mentioned below. And by the way, 60% of my class are from Africa! [ubuntu-marketing] Seminar in Finland... and Mark is invited too...
So sorry, The seminar is going to be held at Helia University. www.helia.fi. It is located near pasila station in Helsinki. Just of the platform at pasila. If you need any more details give me an email. If you can't talk at the seminar I would love it if people came to help with passing out fliers and cd before during and after the presentations. Thanks to all those helping! :) Is there anyone in Finland willing to give a short presentation on linux and some neat things that can be done with linux. I am going to be demoing some of the 3d effects found in the new glx platform. We have the linux teacher giving a short explaination of what linux is and what a gpl is. But I want a greater focus on Ubuntu. Is there a rep that can come to present to a beginners group the power of ubuntu/linux and encourge students to be a part of Ubuntu and join the linux community.Any takers? Give me a personal email and we can get in contact. We need both english and finnish speakers. But both are not required. Thanks for the help signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part -- ubuntu-marketing mailing list ubuntu-marketing@lists.ubuntu.com https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-marketing
