I have the same issue, I can mount them using CLI or GParted where they
mount by default as a CDROM but they do not auto mount.

Hi Oliver,

Thanks for your response and suggestions. My comments are interdispersed below.

Hmm. I get the same behavior in both modes. Is there any debugging output I can
send you?

I also tried manually typing suspend/hibernate commands:
pm-suspend --- does nothing
pm-suspend-hybrid disconnects network but that is about it.
pm-hibernate -- ditto. disconnects network.

try:
sudo apt-get remove uswwsusp
uswsusp was pulled in through an erroneous merge from debian, we will

likely remove it completely from the ubuntu archive before final
release, currently the workaround is to just uninstall the package, so
teh in-kernel suspend methods can be used again.

There is progress  now;

1- from menus, it hibernated but did not wake up. I end up with a black screen
with a cursor blinking.

only think I can see is this error that appears for a while:
[478.478177 btusb_intr_complete: hci0 urb f4c20d00 failed to resubmit (2)
I tried it tried 3 times with same results.
2- from terminal sudo pm-hibernate works little better but appears to be
unstable. It worked 2/5 tries. I wonder if (1) failed because of unstability
too?
3- from terminal sudo pm-suspend works fine. Is there a reason there is no
suspend button in GNOME menus?

(could any of this be due to an error during boot-up related to some BIOS-bug? I
can not type the number it disappears too fast)

I do not have a keyboard I can use to test the logs more carefully right

now.

I also could not mount my USB stick. Quick look at logs suggest that it

thought that it was a CD-ROM ??.
was that on a installed system ? it might be that in teh live image USB keys

are

considered CDroms for installaer purposes.

it is an installed system. I just tried a few different USB sticks and the
internal card reader. all behave the same. This is what shows up in the logs
with the internal card reader (similar things with USB sticks too)

Re: FW: Similar wireless issue

2008-10-07 Thread Ryan Gallagher
Ok I have tried this now with my network connections which are locked
and I do not get any networks visible (windows sees about 10 as does my
M200 running Ubuntu desktop). If I run iwlist scan I get 'wlan0 No scan
results'.

Is there any way I can uninstall the card and reinstall it? Something
is obviously broken in a big way and the machine is not much use to me
unless I can connect to the network wirelessly. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Ryan.

Just a question, were you able to connect when you booted from the

Just wondering if it is tied to the installation to fix the error 15
issue.

If CLI is needed, fine. Just need good directions.

Rotation and calibration

2008-10-04 Thread Ryan Gallagher
I have screen rotation working using Xrandr and a launcher which is
added to the panel. The problem is that when I rotate, the Touch screen
is way off. Is there any way to save two different calibration files
and swap them out via CLI so that I can add the command to the launcher
when it rotates? Also if there is an easier way, I would love to use
that instead.

Thanks,

on other systems you need to find a way to press f11, usually most

Re: Feedback

2008-09-30 Thread Ryan Gallagher

Ok not sure what happened to what I actually said in this email but what
I was asking was, is there anyway that is easy and accessible to full
screen apps? While the top and left bar are very handy while I am
sorting out what I am going to do, they take up valuable real estate on
the screen when I am settling in to do something like edit a document or
read through web pages. It would be amazing if you could have a button
to full screen the app and switch back and forth easily. Does this
already exist? If not it would be a huge bonus for me since without it,
I still need Ubuntu desktop installed along side mobile. This is just
my opinion and others may disagree. I just blew away my version while
trying to install desktop alongside it and am reinstalling it again
now.

I also noticed that my after market Dell 3G card is recognised in
Mobile. I have a SIM card in it and will test it out to see if I can
connect with it (I put it in myself).

Thanks,
Ryan.

Install not working properly- Error 15 upon reboot

2008-09-26 Thread Ryan Gallagher
Hiya,

I am able to run it just fine in the live version. At first I tried to
install it into a 20GB partition I had created for this but that failed
with an error 15 on reboot. I liked it so much I decided to format the
whole hard drive and install it, unfortunately it still does not boot
and gets an error 15 upon reboot. I have tried about 15 times using
different settings in the partitions on install. I have also
reformatted in Ubuntu 8.04 and then tried again but no luck. Anyone
else having a problem with the install? Any ideas on what is going
wrong? It is a Q1 Ultra which has no trouble running MID and 8.04.

Thanks,
Ryan.

The workaround I used for this was to boot again on the USB stick,

sudo apt-get install aptitude
aptitude download linux-image-2.6.27-4-generic
sudo mount /dev/sda1 /mnt

Thanks for letting me know, I wish I had posted here sooner, I thought
it was something dumb I was doing :-D

The workaround I used for this was to boot again on the USB stick,
and run the following commands. You may need to adjust to taste:

sudo apt-get install aptitude
aptitude download linux-image-2.6.27-4-generic
sudo mount /dev/sda1 /mnt
sudo cp linux-image*deb /mnt
sudo chroot /mnt /bin/bash
dpkg -i linux-image*deb
exit
sudo umount /mnt
sudo reboot

The resulting reboot worked, and my system (Kohjinsha SR) was installed.

I've also filed bug #274753 about this.

Re: Supporting Ubuntu Mobile

I tried rebooting and once again am back to the error 15. :(

Tried it twice now and no joy.

Any other ideas I can try out?

Thanks,
Ryan.

 [EMAIL PROTECTED]:/# dpkg -i linux-image*deb
...
 Examining /etc/kernel/postinst.d.
 run-parts: executing /etc/kernel/postinst.d/nvidia-common
 pcilib: Cannot open /proc/bus/pci

That happened for me too. Ignore it. Reboot. I think it's because
the chroot environment isn't set up with everything the kernel expects
when being installed, but I'm not entirely sure.

After, should I try before? I assumed that would overwrite it.

Ryan, did you install the kernel image before or after installing Ubuntu
Mobile in your device?

Javi

Re: [Fwd: Re: Install not working properly- Error 15 upon reboot]

2008-09-26 Thread Ryan Gallagher
Ok it is working now, I did the whole lot after clicking Continue using
the CD as suggested and it works fine. Thanks to everyone for the
help.

Just waiting for it to finish booting then I will run apt-get install
linux and do some serious road testing.

Thanks again for all of the very prompt support and assistance from the
whole list!
Ryan.

Hrm. If just rebooting doesn't fix it for you, you might try
running through the install again, select Continue using the CD (yes,
it's not a CD), and doing the apt-get update; apt-get install aptitude
... stuff at that point to see if you can get it working (chroot to
/target in this case, I think). Aside from that you could try to make
the chroot more robust with something like `mount -t proc proc /proc`.

In the worst case, installing Ubuntu Desktop, installing the
ubuntu-mobile package, and uninstalling the ubuntu-desktop package ought
to work. Mind you, I've not tried any of these: for me it just worked
with the forced installation of the kernel.

On another note, once one has a booted working system, it's probably
a good ideal to `apt-get install linux` to make sure to track kernel
upgrades for security fixes, etc.

No wireless connections visible

2008-09-26 Thread Ryan Gallagher
Ok I have it installed and working great with the exception of the
wireless connections. They worked fine in the live edition but now they
won't work at all. Wired works great, I updated everything and rebooted
but still wireless does not see any networks.

Talk to you soon,
Ryan.
