Fixed in todays iso :)

Luke has looked at it again and found another error in the seeds which he
corrected tonight.

We are not sure that the fix made it into the queue tonight, therefore the
quality ISO tomorrow is still quite questionable. However, waiting an
additional day should prove more than adequate to ensure that the fix is in
the ISO.

I want to thank everyone for reporting, testing, and fixing this bug.

ScottL

P.S. When the ISO is fixed, it would be nice also if anyone would test to
see if the patched gnome-network-admin (System -> Administration -> Network)
can configure network, especially wifi, connections. Don't forget to click
the shield icon to authenticate, i.e. enter password for privileges, before
trying to configure the network connection (Connections tab -> highlight
correct connection -> Properties).

Hi everybody.

The installation still fails. I tested today's ISO (yes, it includes the
new ubustu-meta 0.74: browsing inside the ISO I confirm I have
$iso/pool/universe/u/ubuntustudio-meta/ubuntustudio-*_0.74_i386.deb )

Here is the slightly exact error message appearing in tty4:
in-target: foomatic-db-compressed-ppds : Conflicts : foomatic-db but
20100915-0ubuntu3 is to be installed
  Conflicts : foomatic-db-hpijs
but 20100915-0ubuntu2 is to be installed

I updated LP and reset the status to New

Luke has updated the seeds and pushed the changes. I would expect the daily
ISO's to be installable again.

I spoke with Luke, he said it looks like we need to merge some seeds from
Ubuntu proper and he would take care of it later today.

Thank you everyone for looking into, reporting, and addressing this bug :)

Ok, cool. I would bet this is a seed issue then.

Scott, you should talk with Luke and see if there's seed changes needed.
This might not be the only one we need.

Same, indeed: foomatic-db-compressed-ppds conflicting with foomatic-db

I just performed the test; the ubuntu-alternate iso of the same day
installs properly, so the problem seems to be UbuntuStudio specific. I
created bug #642405 (wasn't sure where to create it, please adjust the
project/package):

It's most likely in standard Ubuntu as well? Have you tried one of

Confirmed, I used the daily of 20100917 amd64 arch. If you hit Ctrl+Alt+F4, you
can see where it fails. For me, it was foomatic-db-compressed-ppds conflicting
with foomatic-db.

I was explained that the installer tells apt to install them both at the same
time, so apt gets confused.

No idea if it's the same with your case, but likely.

I was also explained that most of the time these errors are due to package
states, but this one might be puzzling. I'd suggest filing a bug if you can't
find one already, like you said.

Daily ISO fails at "select and install software" step

2010-09-18 Thread Ronan Jouchet
Hello,

Today's daily studio spin fails to install at "select and install
software" step and presents a red screen asking to retry or skip, even
if I uncheck all of the four package choices (2d3d, audio, dssi, video).

I've been told on IRC it has been reported some days ago on this ML but
I couldn't find anything. Should I file a bug? Need more info here?

Good day,
