Res: What do you guys listen to? :)
I grew up listening to the Beatles, was crazy about Deep Purple (and other 70's) when I was a teenager, listened to a lot of progressive rock (Yes, Jethro Tull, Genesis, Zappa, etc) and electric jazz (Chick Corea, Miles Davis, Herbie Hancock, etc) since I started to play the bass, some Brazilian music through all that and nowadays I mainly listen to "classical" music, from early medieval music to contemporary electroacoustic which, as Rafael said, is the main reason I'm trying to get along with this audio stuff. Re: What do you guys listen to? :)
I'm a classical guitar player, so I listen to a lot of classical music, not just guitar, but anything. Especially Bach, Beethoven, Renaissance music and a lot of contemporary from Stravinsky and Debussy. I really like electroacustic music, like Stockhausen and Parmeggiani that's the main reason I'm into audio software, from Ardour to Pure Data. But I also do music arrangements, so notation is very important to me. I mainly use Rosegarden and Lilypond. I like a lot of rock (of the more classic kind), not so much metal, but I do like the old Metallica though. My favorites: Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin. I'm very much into Radiohead now. Bjork also comes to my mind. I recently saw her in concert and that blew me away !! Re: My single quote key is misbehaving
I just had this problem the other day. I re-installed ubuntu studio on my laptop and I ended up with this crazy ' only happening when I typed it twice. If I typed 's it gave me a different character that kind of looked like 's but was some other character. I apparently missed a character during the keyboard test during setup and it gave me a U.S. English International (with dead keys) default keyboard layout. You have to go to system-preferences keyboard and change the layout. It took some experimentation until I figured out which one I actually needed and I ended up with U.S. English and now it is fine. Nice! Thank you all for your help. I will check this out further when I get home tonight. Although I studied French and German in my younger years, English is really the only language that I am typing these days; I don't often need to type accents, but I am frequently needing to use an apostrophe or needing a single quote when writing code. Since I didn't find this feature in Ubuntu, I made the incorrect assumption that this was a bug. 96 khz drum samples...
hi all...Um I have a dumb question again...Im recording in ardour using 96 khz resolution, but al my hydrogen samples are in 44.1. so when I want to use hydrogen, I have to change the resolution in JACK settings. But even if I restart JACK, and the setup tels me im in 44.1, all my hydrogen tracks sound like they are played by the chipmunks...Thats telling me that my sound card is still locked in 96 kz. If I reboot, THEN its in 44.1 and i can use hydrogen. is there a way to reset my sound card without rebooting? I have a delta 44 or alternatively...is there a way to "up convert" a drum kit to 96kz so I dont have to mess around with my audio settings too much? thanks guys and grlz, greg _ Envoie un sourire, fais rire, amuse-toi! This is also very handy for making characters with accents. Just type the quote followed by the character: é á ź ć backwards accents can be formed with the quote left from the number one: à è Trema's with the double quote ä ë etc. You should be able to change this behaviour using System->preferences->keyboard but I don't know what option you should choose. Guess you have to experiment a bit. On the other hand, this feature is really handy if you get used to it. Maybe you should try it for a few weeks. yvan -- Ubuntu-Studio-users mailing list Ubuntu-Studio-users@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-studio-users

All non-multimedia related problems should be asked in the general ubuntu places. Not that I'm saying Ubuntu Studio community isn't willing to help, but the broad Ubuntu community is much bigger and you will have a lot more chance to get it resolved. Don't forget to search around the ubuntuforums.org for somebody that might've had the same problems and had it resolved before you (avoid helpers repeating work and avoids you waiting for replies). Re: My single quote key is misbehaving
Fix the keyboard layout. What you are seeing is not a single quote but a latin accent. ' -> quote ` -> accent ´ -> other accent Why you have to press it twice? Because àccénts gó with léttèrs. So you préss the accent and then the lèttér it goes with. And if you want it alone, you press it twice.
