I can reproduce this bug in Epiphany and Firefox... 
I think that the start.ubuntu.com webserver lacks support for Asturian.

You can test your browser here:

If the first language is "ast" your browser is OK.

Hi!
I did try load the web (http://start.ubuntu.com/9.04/).

I was changing the Language in Preferences to "es" and to "ast".
I was changing the general.useragent.locale to "ast", "ast-ES" and "ES-ast"...

Nothing works :(
I think is an issue between asturian locale and the code of the home web.

Where can I see the code of routing to one language or other? (For debug it)

I'm wondering if string in Section "Recommended packages installed by
default" that reads "if you want to make this permanent, set
APT::Install-Recommends "false"; in /etc/apt/apt.conf." shouldn't be
change to "if you want to make this permanent, type sudo echo
"APT::Install-Recommends "false";" >> /etc/apt/apt.conf.
In my installation of 9.04 I have not /etc/apt/apt.conf file and
probably I had not it in my 8.10 as well.
Maybe I wrong and accidentaly I removed apt.conf file some time ago, so
I would like to ask you if this file should or not be in default
installation.

Translations have become suggestions

Hi everyone,

during the translation process of Jaunty I've experienced a weird
behaviour multiple times: Rosetta suddenly "degraded" my translations to
suggestions some hours after I've made them. Two examples:
- - computer-janitor
- - new upstream translations for gnome-user-docs (uploaded by me for
completing the translation in launchpad)

Has anyone got an explanation for this?

Changes to the time zone map.

The Installer Team was asked to change the images and the selection
point and box for the new time zone map by the Desktop Experience
Team.  This has been uploaded as ubiquity 1.12.9 and will be part of
the 9.04 release candidate.  A screenshot of this change can be found

The template and po files should be updated now... or waiting in the
import queue.

I tried to used the automatic Rosetta import feature release this cycle,
but it looks like it's not ready yet... so I went back to manual import.

I'm only handling the translations and I'm not an xhtml/css guru.

Hope someone will dedicate some time for fixing this problem before the
release. Patch welcomed :)

be used only for translators:

Hi,

I think Adi's is a good suggestion and a good starting point for
something to check out for. That said, the language code in the browser
should automatically be set to the given locale already.

I have also noticed a problem: in the current version (at least last
evening), the "Ubuntu help" link appears untranslated. I have noticed a
couple of things:

* At some point all strings in Catalan were translated in Jaunty, but
there was a template change (I think from "Ubuntu Help" to "Ubuntu
help") and then they started to appear untranslated. The last
translation in Launchpad for this string was on 2009-03-24 [1]

* The template [1] does not seem to reflect what has been released.
There is still a mixture of capitals (Ubuntu Start Page, Ubuntu shop)
and the "Ubuntu Help" string there is different to the released "Ubuntu
help" one. I think it might be a matter of updating the template.

* I have tested the following localisations (just by clicking on the
link): de [2], ca [3], it [4], es [5], fr [6] and ast [7]. In all of
them the "Ubuntu help" appears untranslated. They were ok the last time
the status report was generated, though [8]

Adi, Matthew, do you think you could you shed any light on this?
