And because laptop hardware is non-standard, it needs specific testing. Have you reported it as a bug? I don't know how much useful information you can supply, but it's unlikely to get fixed if the developers don't know about it. :-) Probably teaching you to suck eggs, but I just mentioned it for anyone else who's reading the thread. In fact on a few occasions, unpredictably, 6.10 has not booted properly in the laptop - the display seems not to start sometimes. I know that the hardware is not good, and not 'made' for linux, but a lot has been done with linux, and my experience here is that 6.10 is a small step backwards. If this works, edit the file /boot/grub/menu.lst and add it to the end of the commented "kopt" line. Then do a (if I remember correctly) dpkg --reconfigure grub and it should update all the kernel lines with the specified vga option. Then Bob's your Aunty's live-in lover. It just strikes me as odd and confusing that the list address it Ubuntu.com yet the team link is Kubuntu.org.
