[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 423624] Re: xorg-edgers regression: some buttons not showing in blender
** Description changed: Binary package hint: libgl1-mesa-dri Upgrading current karmic to the newest xorg-edgers packages this morning brought in among others: libgl1-mesa-dri_7.6.0+git20090902.dc9de806-0ubuntu0tormod. The upgrade of this package resulted in visual problems with some buttons not showing up in blender until mouse over and some buttons disappearing on mouse over as the attached video shows. Forcing libgl1-mesa-dri down to the current karmic (7.6.0~git20090817.7c422387-0ubuntu3) worked and made all those visual problems go away. Further investigation showed that it is the update of libgl1-mesa-dri from 7.6.0+git20090901.a8cbb156-0ubuntu0tormod to 7.6.0+git20090902.dc9de806-0ubuntu0tormod that introduces this bug. this is btw. the same update that fixed bug #423047 xorg-edgers regression: screen corruption in blender. - A new update of xorg-edgers installed 7.6.0+git20090907.79f48c9f- + A new update of xorg-edgers installed 7.6.0+git20090908.e589a37f- 0ubuntu0tormod. This did not change the bugs status. I have discovered another visual phenomenon that coincides with the non- showing buttons. In blenders outliner window some icons are offset by one. See http://launchpadlibrarian.net/31478830/outliner_correct.ogv for the correct behaviour (as happens with libgl1-mesa-dri forced down to current karmic) and http://launchpadlibrarian.net/31478848/outliner_offsetbug.ogv for what happens with current xorg-edgers libgl1-mesa-dri. Please let me know what else I can do to make ubuntu karmic on intel graphics a good platform for blender :-) ProblemType: Bug Architecture: amd64 Date: Thu Sep 3 11:58:02 2009 DistroRelease: Ubuntu 9.10 MachineType: Acer Extensa 5630 Package: xorg 1:7.4+3ubuntu5 PccardctlIdent: Socket 0: no product info available PccardctlStatus: Socket 0: no card ProcCmdLine: BOOT_IMAGE=/boot/vmlinuz-2.6.31-9-generic root=UUID=c8f90551-03c2-4d41-93e1-df346762f95b ro quiet splash ProcEnviron: PATH=(custom, user) LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 2.6.31-9.29-generic RelatedPackageVersions: xserver-xorg 1:7.4+3ubuntu5 libgl1-mesa-glx 7.6.0+git20090902.dc9de806-0ubuntu0tormod libdrm2 2.4.13~git-0ubuntu0tormod xserver-xorg-video-intel 2:2.8.1+git20090829.7c48c21b-0ubuntu0tormod xserver-xorg-video-ati N/A SourcePackage: xorg Uname: Linux 2.6.31-9-generic x86_64 XorgConf: Error: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: '/etc/X11/xorg.conf' dmi.bios.date: 12/05/2008 dmi.bios.vendor: Phoenix Technologies LTD dmi.bios.version: V1.25 dmi.board.name: Homa dmi.board.vendor: Acer dmi.board.version: Rev dmi.chassis.type: 10 dmi.chassis.vendor: Acer dmi.chassis.version: N/A dmi.modalias: dmi:bvnPhoenixTechnologiesLTD:bvrV1.25:bd12/05/2008:svnAcer:pnExtensa5630:pvr0100:rvnAcer:rnHoma:rvrRev:cvnAcer:ct10:cvrN/A: dmi.product.name: Extensa 5630 dmi.product.version: 0100 dmi.sys.vendor: Acer fglrx: Not loaded system: distro: Ubuntu architecture: x86_64kernel: 2.6.31-9-generic 00:02.0 VGA compatible controller [0300]: Intel Corporation Mobile 4 Series Chipset Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:2a42] (rev 07) Subsystem: Acer Incorporated [ALI] Device [1025:013c] -- xorg-edgers regression: some buttons not showing in blender https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/423624 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to mesa in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

I installed karmic from the live CD and did and did dist-upgrade to latest packages (on Sep 7). I have xserver-xorg-input-synaptics version 1.1.2-1ubuntu5. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 426449] [NEW] green artifact when clicking trash icon
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Booted Karmic alpha5 live CD. Changed no settings whatsoever. Clicking and releasing the mouse on the trash icon in the bottom-right corner of the screen results in a very brief green artifact displayed on my screen. It's a line, probably a pixel wide, both at the far left and far right of the screen. It happens every time I release my mouse when clicking the trash icon. The line differs in length and position every time I click. So far, I found it only to happen when clicking the trash icon; opening a window doesn't result in the artifact. I attached a video, showing the lines just before the window is opened. Might be hardware related: Using NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260, 192 core model, card by MSI. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 426765] [NEW] DPMS events reset event timer causing gnome-power-manager to exit idle state almost immediately after a blank event
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-core Ubuntu Karmic Alpha 5 xserver-xorg-core 1.6.3-1ubuntu6 Expected behavior: Backlight should turn off after the specified interval. Current Behavior: Backlight goes off but immediately comes back on because of the event timer reset. gnome-power-manager receives an reset event and is falsely led to believe that there is user activity. Important since this drains laptop batteries at a faster rate. This is probably fixed in commit c1d901d723c3bee523736eacc15b44a7dff484fe, so I guess it needs to be cherrypicked. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 417610] Re: [i965GM] Display brightness completely dimmed after waking up from suspend
Hmmm... weird... I just found out that correct display brightness is restored on resume if the laptop is NOT CONNECTED to the AC power. So the problem does not occur when resuming on battery power. @Philippe: Can you confirm this behaviour with our own system? I have no idea about the detailed technical background, so I'm just guessing: Is there some kind of trigger/event/interrupt from ACPI missing/ignored when resuming on AC power? Some trigger like Hey, adjust your display brightness!!. During normal operation such an event seems to be fired when disconnecting AC power, since the display is slightly dimmed. Maybe it's exactly this function detect transition from AC to battery == set brightness that runs at the very moment the laptop wakes up with AC power disconnected. That would explain why the brightness is restored in that special case. This is just my own theory... since I'm not burdened with any technical expertise chances are high that it's complete bullsh*t... ;-) Best regards, Volker -- [i965GM] Display brightness completely dimmed after waking up from suspend https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/417610 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 427013] [NEW] Karmic xorg freezes when using glslideshow screensaver with an external monitor and a Toshiba laptop
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg I'm using Karmic with an external monitor connected to my laptop VGA output. X freezes when the glslideshow screensaver runs. The freeze happen after a couple of minutes. However I haven't noticed a freeze when I'm using my laptop without an external screen attached. When X freezes the keyboard is also frozen - only CTRL+ALT+Sys+{S,U,B} works. Switching to a console doesn't work. The rest of the system works correctly as I can ssh into the host and get on the network. Killing glslideshow leaves it as a zombie of gnome-screensaver. Killing gnome-screesaver leaves glslideshow as a zombie of init (1). Killing Xorg works - a new loging screen appears. I've attached a Batchbuffer Dump as my video card is an intel card.
