[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 423624] Re: xorg-edgers regression: some buttons not showing in blender

2009-09-09 Thread Wolfgang Kufner
** Description changed:

  Binary package hint: libgl1-mesa-dri

Upgrading current karmic to the newest xorg-edgers packages this morning
brought in among others:
  libgl1-mesa-dri_7.6.0+git20090902.dc9de806-0ubuntu0tormod.
The upgrade of this package resulted in visual problems with some buttons not
showing up in blender until mouse over and some buttons disappearing on mouse
over as the attached video shows.

Forcing libgl1-mesa-dri down to the current karmic
(7.6.0~git20090817.7c422387-0ubuntu3) worked and made all those visual
  problems go away.

Further investigation showed that it is the update of libgl1-mesa-dri
  from 7.6.0+git20090901.a8cbb156-0ubuntu0tormod to
7.6.0+git20090902.dc9de806-0ubuntu0tormod that introduces this bug. this
is btw. the same update that fixed bug #423047 xorg-edgers regression:
  screen corruption in blender.

- A new update of xorg-edgers installed 7.6.0+git20090907.79f48c9f-
+ A new update of xorg-edgers installed 7.6.0+git20090908.e589a37f-
0ubuntu0tormod. This did not change the bugs status.

I have discovered another visual phenomenon that coincides with the non-
showing buttons. In blenders outliner window some icons are offset by
  one. See http://launchpadlibrarian.net/31478830/outliner_correct.ogv for
the correct behaviour (as happens with libgl1-mesa-dri forced down to
  current karmic) and
  http://launchpadlibrarian.net/31478848/outliner_offsetbug.ogv for what
  happens with current xorg-edgers libgl1-mesa-dri.

Please let me know what else I can do to make ubuntu karmic on intel
graphics a good platform for blender :-)

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 426159] Re: Xserver crashes when logging in

2009-09-09 Thread Ernst Persson
(Note: This bug is specific to Karmic for me)
Upgrading my Karmic install to the packages in
https://launchpad.net/~xorg-edgers/+archive/ppa did not solve the problem.

I actually run Jaunty with a 2.6.31 kernel and the git-driver, so I
don't think it's any of them. That would point the finger at the
x-server itself.. ?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 426319] Re: [R400 X700] Blender incorrect repainting and screen corruption

2009-09-09 Thread Geir Ove Myhr
Do you have the possibility to test the xorg-edgers repository
(https://launchpad.net/~xorg-edgers/+archive/ppa)? This will tell us if
this has already been fixed upstream so that we only need to pull the
right patch into Karmic, or if we should ask for help upstream.

It would also be nice if you could upload a screenshot to illustrate the
issue.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 320639] Re: Touchpad movement problems in 0.99.3

2009-09-09 Thread mannheim
I installed karmic from the live CD and did and did dist-upgrade to
latest packages (on Sep 7). I have xserver-xorg-input-synaptics version
1.1.2-1ubuntu5.

Out of the box, the touchpad on my Dell XPS M1330 is impossibly fast.
After going to the Mouse control panel and turning both controls to
their minimum, the Mouse is still too fast (for me). I also believe that
the Sensitivity scale is not doing anything.

Surely the priority of this bug should be high if laptop touchpads are
unusable by normal humans on standard hardware?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 426449] [NEW] green artifact when clicking trash icon

2009-09-09 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Booted Karmic alpha5 live CD. Changed no settings whatsoever.

Clicking and releasing the mouse on the trash icon in the bottom-right
corner of the screen results in a very brief green artifact displayed on
my screen. It's a line, probably a pixel wide, both at the far left and
far right of the screen. It happens every time I release my mouse when
clicking the trash icon. The line differs in length and position every
time I click. So far, I found it only to happen when clicking the trash
icon; opening a window doesn't result in the artifact.

I attached a video, showing the lines just before the window is opened.

Might be hardware related:
Using NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260, 192 core model, card by MSI. Screen is a Samsung
Syncmaster 245B+, DVI connection. Single monitor. Mobo's an ASUS P5Q-E. Proc's

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 426765] [NEW] DPMS events reset event timer causing gnome-power-manager to exit idle state almost immediately after a blank event

2009-09-09 Thread Subu Krishnamoorthy
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-core

Ubuntu Karmic Alpha 5
xserver-xorg-core 1.6.3-1ubuntu6
Expected behavior: Backlight should turn off after the specified interval.
Current Behavior: Backlight goes off but immediately comes back on because of
the event timer reset. gnome-power-manager receives an reset event and is
falsely led to believe that there is user activity.

Important since this drains laptop batteries at a faster rate.

This is probably fixed in commit
c1d901d723c3bee523736eacc15b44a7dff484fe, so I guess it needs to be
cherrypicked. I think it should have made it into xserver-xorg-
core-1.6.3-1ubuntu3 (with other related upstream cherrypicks), but was
missed.

correctly. I'm going to install from here and see if it is just an
issue with accessing the cd with xsplash etc that is causing the issue
here.

Hi madank,

Please attach the output of `lspci -vvnn` and `dmesg`, and attach your
/var/log/Xorg.0.log (and maybe Xorg.0.log.old) file from after reproducing this
issue. If you're using a custom /etc/X11/xorg.conf please attach that as well.

[This is an automated message. Apologies if it has reached you

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 314928] Re: [i915GM] MTRR entry gets removed when restarting xorg - causes corruption on ttys

2009-09-09 Thread Giovanni Battista Salvietti
The Xorg update in jaunty-proposed isn't working at all.
IMHO we should close this bug, 'cause the ubuntu team isn't interested at
solving it (althought is extremely simple to do).
All in all, we only have to wait 1 more month for karmic

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 426821] [NEW] mesa don't allow boot my system

2009-09-09 Thread Skiros
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

When I start my system, only see black screen.
I have modified file xorg to put Driver vesa, before I had Driver radeonhd
but from my last update, the file change and commented that line like this →
#Drive vesa

I tried to change to Drive radeonhd and it didn't work, then I changed
to Drive vesa and works, but I lose my best resolution and I have now
4:3 and I see all very bad... :-(

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 418194] Re: X crash on X200s in intel_drv.so/intel_batch_flush

2009-09-09 Thread Luka Renko
I experienced the same crash of X server today, but this time I was not running
in dual-head config (only LVDS screen used).
This time I was not doing anything special on the system (reading e-mails with
Kontact and Chromium was uploading some photos to SmugMug with Java applet).

Backtrace from Xorg.0.log (attached) looks the same/similar as last
time.

Is there anything I can do to try to get to root cause of this problem?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 423415] Re: Ati driver issues when logging into desktop

2009-09-09 Thread Dave Morley
Okay, so this just gets weirder.

I purge removed xsplash to ensure that wasn't the issue. It isn't.

Session type xterm works flawlessly, as did installing direct from menu
rather than live desktop.

Session type gnome dies a horrible flame death of fail.

In xterm I checked the res of the screen and it's correct.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 415682] [NEW] Stuck with KDE Cursor after installing ubuntu-desktop

2009-09-09 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Steps to reproduce:
1) Installed Kubuntu 9.04 32-bit and then fully updated to today 2009/08/18.
2) Installed ubuntu-desktop (to get GNOME)
3) reboot and select gnome for new session

What happens: I get the KDE cursor in GNOME. I try to change the cursor
in gnome-appearance-properties but there is no immediate change. I must
log out and back in to see the change, whereas if I just install ubuntu,
I will see cursor changes immediately.

What is expected: Do not display KDE Oxygen_White cursor pointer when
going into a gnome session for the first time. Have changes to the
cursor be reflected immediately.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 419291] Re: gl screensaver freeze mesa 7.6.0~git20090817.7c422387-0ubuntu2

2009-09-09 Thread Leann Ogasawara
Unduping this from 419264 for now based on Łukasz Kuryło feedback:

https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/karmic/+source/linux/+bug/419264/comments/39

That's a negat. For me mesa 7.6.0~git20090817.7c422387-0ubuntu2 is still no
go. Even after kernel upgrade to 2.6.31-10 I got kernel panic when moved mouse
while glMatrix screensaver was running. Next time glMatrix just froze and it
was better I could do SysRq + RSIUB kungfu.
Mine bug was #419264 marked as dupe of this one maybe it's another issue then.

** This bug is no longer a duplicate of bug 419264

2009-09-09 Thread Geir Ove Myhr
Is get-edid or ddcprobe (xresprobe package) able to get the EDID
information? They should both be independent implementations from the
video driver. Do you have any other monitors or computers available so
that you could test if it is only for this particular hardware
combination it does not work?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 417610] Re: [i965GM] Display brightness completely dimmed after waking up from suspend

2009-09-09 Thread Volker Knollmann
Hmmm... weird... I just found out that correct display brightness is
restored on resume if the laptop is NOT CONNECTED to the AC power. So
the problem does not occur when resuming on battery power.

@Philippe:
Can you confirm this behaviour with our own system?

I have no idea about the detailed technical background, so I'm just guessing:
Is there some kind of trigger/event/interrupt from ACPI missing/ignored when
resuming on AC power? Some trigger like Hey, adjust your display brightness!!.
During normal operation such an event seems to be fired when disconnecting AC
power, since the display is slightly dimmed. Maybe it's exactly this function
detect transition from AC to battery == set brightness that runs at the very
moment the laptop wakes up with AC power disconnected. That would explain why
the brightness is restored in that special case.

This is just my own theory... since I'm not burdened with any technical
expertise chances are high that it's complete bullsh*t... ;-)

Best regards,
Volker

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 188342] Re: keymap fr: numpad '.' mapped to period instead of KP_Decimal

2009-09-09 Thread Xwang
I've a very similar problem using the Italian language on my kubuntu 9.04 amd64
system.
Openoffice and gnucash work correctly (they see the decimal separator of the
keypad like a comma as prescrived by the current locale), but speedcrunch,
kate, firefox, thunderbird and a lot of other programs see the decimal
separator like a dot.
Shouldn't the KP_Decimal value be aligned with the locale settings?
This is the output of xmodmap -pke for this key:
keycode 91 = KP_Delete KP_Decimal KP_Delete KP_Decimal KP_Delete KP_Decimal
Thank you,
Xwang

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 426970] Re: Enabling the radeonhd driver on an x1550 fails...

2009-09-09 Thread Tormod Volden
For 3D acceleration, you should try removing the xserver-xorg-video-
radeonhd package and also your xorg.conf, so that the default
-ati/-radeon driver can start.

In any case, please attach your Xorg.0.log, or use apport-collect
426970.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 427013] [NEW] Karmic xorg freezes when using glslideshow screensaver with an external monitor and a Toshiba laptop

2009-09-09 Thread Mathias Gug
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

I'm using Karmic with an external monitor connected to my laptop VGA
output. X freezes when the glslideshow screensaver runs. The freeze
happen after a couple of minutes. However I haven't noticed a freeze
when I'm using my laptop without an external screen attached.

When X freezes the keyboard is also frozen - only CTRL+ALT+Sys+{S,U,B}
works. Switching to a console doesn't work. The rest of the system works
correctly as I can ssh into the host and get on the network.

Killing glslideshow leaves it as a zombie of gnome-screensaver. Killing
gnome-screesaver leaves glslideshow as a zombie of init (1). Killing
Xorg works - a new loging screen appears.

I've attached a Batchbuffer Dump as my video card is an intel card.
