[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 320388] Re: accentuated characters wrongly displayed (encoding problem) in title bar
see http://invisible-island.net/xterm/xterm.log.html#xterm_210 man xterm (resource settings): utf8Title (class Utf8Title) Applications can set xterm's title by writing a control sequence. Normally this control sequence follows the VT220 convention, which encodes the string in ISO-8859-1 and allows for an 8-bit string terminator. If xterm is started in a UTF-8 locale, it translates the ISO-8859-1 string to UTF-8 to work with the X libraries which assume the string is UTF-8. However, some users may wish to write a title string encoded in UTF-8. Set this resource to true to allow UTF-8 encoded title strings. That cancels the translation to UTF-8, allowing UTF-8 strings to be displayed as is. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 162312] Re: Unable to rotate screen with trident chipset
Gentoo user here. I've just been trying to figure out exactly where this fails to see whether I can do something about it. I'm thinking that if it's already possible to rotate through xorg.conf, making it work through RandR can't be that hard. The request is made in XRRSetScreenConfigAndRate of libXrandr and the BadMatch reply is received here. What I can't figure out is where the request actually gets handled and where that BadMatch reply is actually generated. The request/response mechanism seems to be handled by libX11 but this doesn't have anything to do with the actual operation. It must surely be driver-specific so I've looked at xf86-video-intel and xf86-video- radeonhd and while there is RandR rotation stuff in there, I can't see anything that looks like it's dealing with such a request. mistr, could you run `apport-collect 446632 ` from the computer where this problem occurs. This will upload various mesa related logs and information about your system that we need for reporting this upstream. It would be best if you could do this when running xorg-edgers, since that will show logs generated with the latest development version of mesa. -- blender-bin crashed with SIGSEGV in GPU_state_init() https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/446632 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to mesa in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 442629] Re: Touchpad too much sensitive after upgrading from Jaunty to Karmic
Same Problem ? Advent 5421 laptop with clean install of Ubuntu Karmic 9.10 The touchpad is very sensitive and with tapping enabled will select any icon that is passed over without tapping. I created the /etc/hal/fdi/policy/shmconfig.fdi and entered the contents as listed. I then installed gsynaptics package.. Attempts to reduces sensitivity with gsynaptics fail. Sensitivity resets itself to anywhere between about 30% to 100% sensitivity. If setting at 30% 'sticks' which it does sometimes, it's still way too sensitive and tapping unusable. Scrolling settings don't seem to work but acceleration pointer speed does. I have tapping disabled currently. -- Touchpad too much sensitive after upgrading from Jaunty to Karmic https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/442629 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-synaptics in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel I'm using Ubuntu 9.04. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 489855] Re: System bell broken under X in Karmic
Sure thing. I'm attaching two slightly-different X logs (I don't know why the older one is talking about evdev but the newer one isn't). They're both from the amd64 LiveCD. I'd purged PulseAudio at some point and had been restarting X after various changes to see if anything happened; I don't know if both of these are from after nuking PA, but one certainly is, and I can always boot a fresh LiveCD and give you that if you want. The third attachment is lspci -vvnn run as root. Please let me know if there is any other information you'd find useful, or if there are any further debugging steps I can take. I'm stymied. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 490031] [NEW] Radeon 9250 no 3D.
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg After the upgrade to Karmic my desktop was black, but I still had the panel and could use compiz. Then I found this: http://ubuntuforums.org/showpost.php?p=8221972postcount=6 After the changes to /etc/X11/xorg.conf my desktop was back but 3D was disabled. This card always worked fine with other releases of Kubuntu. Tormod, If I understand this, that while loop was put in because of possible memory leaks, but in bo_allocate, the new bo is made part of a linked list. radeon_bo_legacy_dtor destroys all the bo_legacys in the list. I don't think it is possble to leak the memory. A very unscientific test, but I ran mplayer with gl2 as the video-output through valgrind. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 438346] Re: [i915gm] [jaunty, karmic] X freezes every day or so
I have IBM ThinkPad X41 with intel 915 video chipset. I'm using Gnome and doesn't have either Compiz installed nor any effects enabled. The problem has surfaced after some update back in 9.04. I'm seeing very often (sometimes a couple time a day) after upgrade to 9.10. Been running Ubuntu since 8.04 after dumping SuSe in favor of the Debian like distro. Should I add that it has became HIGHLY frustrating? When X hangs only the mouse cursor is moving: I can't switch to a terminal, I can't change windows, I can't restart gnome by Ctrl-PrtSc-K. However, I can ssh into my machine and even can force it to sleep by running pm-suspend. On the next wake up an xterm (if it happened to be running before the freeze) is usable (as well as CLI terminals). But that's pretty much it. gdm can't be restarted and normally I need to reboot the laptop. I'm currently running this session with all debug env. set. JimmyNeutron, do you have the exact same issue that this bug report is about in Karmic? I find that strange, since I have recently installed two Optiplex 760 USFF with Karmic, and I don't see this problem (I sometimes get a different kind of corruption, though). [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 430230] Re: libglx.so has undefined symbol. Causes glx module failure
Just to clarify: After installing a driver using NVidia's installer, in order to revert to the packaged driver, first uninstall it as follows (installer filename may differ): sudo sh NVIDIA-Linux-x86-190.42-pkg1.run --uninstall Then re-install the packaged driver (I recommend using envyng, which you may have to install using the package manager). -- libglx.so has undefined symbol. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 467490] Re: nvidia drivers don't work due to -Q in obsolete /etc/modprobe.d/lrm-video
To clarify/summarize: When upgrading directly from 8.04 to 9.10 (Kubuntu Karmic Upgrader), the following minimal change can be made to prevent the nvidia binary driver from failing to load: 1. edit the lrm-video file: sudo nano -w /etc/modprobe.d/lrm-video 2. comment out the following line with a hash mark: #install nvidia /sbin/lrm-video nvidia $CMDLINE_OPTS 3. reboot, or restart the X server Note for KDE4 users: when the nvidia driver is working again, your screen resolution may increase on login, then decrease again, making your panel inaccessible (my panel is set to autohide). Create a new panel, add a system tray widget to it, then run krandrtray. Now use krandrtray to increase your screen resolution to maximum, and the panel should reappear. -- nvidia drivers don't work due to -Q in obsolete /etc/modprobe.d/lrm-video https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/467490 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers-180 in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
