[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 511001] Re: [i855] Lucid Freeze shortly after X startup
Bill, as you probably have seen I have submitted a bug report with the batchbuffer dumps at https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=26746 and added you in the CC field. I think the logs I uploaded are somewhat inconsistent since they come from different runs and slightly different versions. Maybe you could grab a batchbuffer dump, dmesg, and Xorg.0.log from the _same_ run and attach upstream? ** Bug watch added: freedesktop.org Bugzilla #26746 https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=26746 -- [i855] Lucid Freeze shortly after X startup https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/511001 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is the registrant for xf86-video-intel. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 522554] Re: Logged out when typing 2 or @
Gosh I have to press the 2 key in my password and I have to login always twice... Also for me this is the closest description of the behaviour I have managed to find. Environment: Ubuntu lucid, NVIDIA OR NV drivers. Signs: Screen shows distorted pixels on top left. IF I see a non perfect screen (some key sequence seems to be sent to terminal) and I press the key 2, the X server restarts. No strange signs on logs (ending on request). Second time I always get a perfect gdm login screen and I can login successfully. Never happens again, even if I logout and login again. SEEMS some spurious characters coming out from startup are pushed to tty7, and request a gdm restart AFTER the key 2 pression. This is mostly an annoyance for me, but for sure can hide something more serious. -- Logged out when typing 2 or @ https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/522554 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 319057] Re: Enable Tapping gets reset when external mouse is attached.
I'm getting this behaviour as well on Karmic, on a Macbook2,1. I've not configured the device in xorg.conf and I'm not aware that I had to do anything special to get it working. The following steps show the problem: $ synclient -s -l | grep TapButton TapButton1 = 1 TapButton2 = 3 TapButton3 = 2 Now run gsynaptics and turn tapping OFF. Close gsynaptics $ synclient -s -l | grep TapButton TapButton1 = 0 TapButton2 = 3 TapButton3 = 0 Disconnect/connect external mouse will reset the status: $ synclient -s -l | grep TapButton TapButton1 = 1 TapButton2 = 3 TapButton3 = 2 But curiously, If you disable HAL: # /etc/init.d/hal stop And repeat the above process, the above phenomenon does not occur. Of course, disabling HAL is not a good idea. I'm not sure which settings govern the behaviour of HAL (open the pod bay doors, HAL); I've tried /etc/hal/fdi/policy/11-x11-synaptics.fdi but it seems to have no effect. And finally, one more oddity: only some of the settings are affected, like VertTwoFingerScroll and TapButton, but not others like MaxTapTime or AccelFactor. ** Tags added: karmic -- Enable Tapping gets reset when external mouse is attached. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/319057 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-synaptics in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 508699] Re: [K8M800] Xorg freeze / Kernel 2.6.32-10-generic freeze
@Thomas: The first thing I would try is removing plymouth. There are some issues with plymouth that are causing gdm freezes and crashes. By removing that we can figure out how much of your problems are related to it. After you have tested without plymouth, if you still have issues we could perform a git bisect of the ubuntu kernel between -9 and -10 to determine what changes cause the failure for you. -- [K8M800] Xorg freeze / Kernel 2.6.32-10-generic freeze https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/508699 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-openchrome in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 491210] Re: [i865G] Monitor Resolution limited to 800x600
Scott, There are several things at play here, I believe. We've moved modesetting and some other bits over to the kernel so the ability to fix this by modifying our xorg bits will not likely do anything in Lucid. That is the main impetus for me asking about the verification on Lucid. The workaround you mention for earlier versions will likely preclude this from meeting SRU into Karmic, so this would make the xorg task irrelevant here unless you are telling me that downgrading xorg on Lucid resolved the problem. I agree that in some cases it can be standard to add the regression tags for future releases, but I don't think that should be a blanket statement. I'd really like to see if this is still an issue in Lucid due to the changes, so if that would be possible I'd really appreciate it.
