[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 595661] Re: please support h264 hardware acceleration on certain intel video cards

2011-01-08 Thread Vladimir Yakovlev
I build some packages for maverick:
- xserver-xorg-video-intel-2.13.0 - from natty
- libdrm2_2.4.22 - from natty
- libva-1.0.5 - intel upstream package
and get H.264 work on Intel GMA HD (Intel Core i5)

#vainfo

libva: libva version 0.31.1
libva: va_getDriverName() returns 0
libva: Trying to open /usr/lib/dri/i965_drv_video.so
libva: va_openDriver() returns 0
vainfo: VA API version: 0.31
vainfo: Driver version: i965 Driver 0.1
vainfo: Supported profile and entrypoints
VAProfileMPEG2Simple : VAEntrypointVLD
VAProfileMPEG2Main : VAEntrypointVLD
VAProfileH264Baseline : VAEntrypointVLD
VAProfileH264Main : VAEntrypointVLD
VAProfileH264High : VAEntrypointVLD

To get H.264 in natty you need only libva-1.0.5 (now 1.0.2).

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 700270] [NEW] Black screen with only mouse cursor when resuming from suspend and using compositing

2011-01-08 Thread josef
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

When resuming from suspend to RAM, compositing in KWin stops working; I
get a black screen with only the cursor showing. The desktop seems to
work still, but I can't see anything. If I turn compositing off
(Alt+Shift+F12 or running on battery) things work fine.

My problems seem similar to bug 421736

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 192508] Re: mouse keys turns on randomly

2011-01-08 Thread Mossroy
I'm facing the same issue with the following configuration:
- ubuntu 10.04.1 32bit, with remote desktop enabled (vino version
2.28.2-0ubuntu2)
- ubuntu 10.04.1 64bit, connecting to the above computer with vinagre (version
2.30.2-0ubuntu1)
The mouse keys activate on the first computer (the VNC server)

Based on the above comments and my personal experience, I don't think it
could simply be some accidental Shift-NumLock

2011-01-08 Thread Charlie Kravetz
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. The issue that you reported is one that should be
reproducible with the live environment of the Desktop CD of the
development release - Natty Narwhal. It would help us greatly if you
could test with it so we can work on getting it fixed in the next
release of Ubuntu. You can find out more about the development release
at http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/ . Thanks again and we appreciate your
help.

Confirmed on my Vaio laptop (lucid 32bit), but not on my desktop with Nvidia
graphics (64bit).
The bug is specific to Firefox (3.6.13 currently) since no crash occurs on the

Black listing did the trick. I contacted ASUS to find out when they plan to
fix their driver, and they told me they do not support anything but
windows. Does anyone else have a fix that allows the fans to be monitored?

 keyboard.
I understand the asus_atk0110 driver gives information for the fans. How
 does one blacklist this driver?

back-list Asus itself as provider. I already did it with Canon printers

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 700466] [NEW] ubuntu 10.10 chrashes when using 'FN' to change brightness level

2011-01-08 Thread tim
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel

After updating ubuntu 10.10 (actually to xserver-xorg-video-intel
2.12.0-1ubuntu5.1) the system freezes when using FN+Cursor right/left to
change the brightness level.

I'm working with an Acer Aspire 5810TZ with Mobile Intel 4 Series
Express Chipset.

Is there a way to fix the problem? Because I`m using a notebook and
often need to change the brightness level.

Would be very pleasant to get help.

Can you file that as a separate bug; the bugs may get merged if it actually
turns out it's the same cause.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 700466] Re: ubuntu 10.10 chrashes when using 'FN' to change brightness level

2011-01-08 Thread tim
I guess the problem is caused bei xserver-xorg-video-intel. By removing
this package and only using the xserver-xorg-video-i740 the FN-Key works
without chrashing. But without xserver-xorg-video-intel, the resolution
of webpages is in bad quality and also I couldn`t acitvate any visuell
effects.

this crash happens quite often (shortly after i login) with and without

tell what brings the mouse click recognition back.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 380126] Re: [Karmic] Touchpad not recognised correctly, synaptics driver not in use

2011-01-08 Thread Daniel Vio
Marcin, thank you very much for the patch.

Lars Fehr, thank you very much for the step by step tutorial.

I confirm that I have the touchpad working on a Dell V13, even after
reboots. Still no two-finger scroll (the option is grayed-out), but
vertical scroll yes. That was great. Really.

Only for those that are as numbs on Linux as myself, remember to have
all dependencies satisfied in order not to lose two hours of effort only
to have a dependency error in the the end (see section Tolls you'll
need):

https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Kernel/Compile

I also hope that the patch will be integrated into future kernel
releases.

 Bug description:
  Hello,

on my new laptop, a HP ProBook 6440b (with Core i5 and a plain Intel
Chipset, 4GB RAM) I get randomly freezes of the whole system. I can't
reproduce that, what means I don't know a aplication or usage of the system
making it freeze. sometimes I have uptimes of a day, without freeze and
sometimes it freezes right after booting the system.

I found out, that sometimes the MagicSysRQ (R-E-I-S-U-B) works and let me
shut down the system, sometimes not. I don't know what makes that
difference. In the system log I can't find any unusual entries. But I foun
that the system log is still runing, so shuting down the wifi with the
notebooks hardware switch for example is logged. Also the Wifi network
connection to my router is not interrupted.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 700515] [NEW] ubuntu-bug xorg_Strange White Lines

2011-01-08 Thread William A Ellerbe
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

I'm running Ubuntu 11.04 Alpha on my Acer Aspire 5516 laptop with ATI
Radeon Graphics, 4GB of RAM and the AMD Athlon 64-bit processor. I
submitted a bug report before and related to some issues tied in with
bug# 687445, yet I was encouraged to file a new bug report using
ubuntu-bug xorg. With this new bug report I am attaching an updated
screenshot of my desktop which will show what my desktop looks like at
present. As time allows, I will try to see what happens with the Classic
Desktop and Compiz Fusion to determine whether it's a driver bug rather
than unity.

I am hoping that this might be a driver problem instead of a Unity
problem. I like what Ubuntu is attempting to do with the new Unity
interface, and it would be nice to see it working on my laptop as
intended by the Developers. Thanks in advance.

It would be helpful if you could try seeing if
you can reproduce the behavior with the classic desktop + compiz, to
make it more clear that it's a driver bug rather than unity.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 687445] Re: The strange white lines appeared on the top of screen

2011-01-08 Thread William A Ellerbe
@Bryce Harrington - Thank you for your suggestion. I filed a new bug
using ubuntu-bug xorg, and I will attempt to see what happens with the
Classic Desktop and Compiz Fusion. I like what the Developers are
attempting to do with Unity, and I would like to experience this new
interface working on my laptop in due time.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 670578] Re: Explorer Mouse v1.0 model:1362 has hyper sensitive scroll wheel.

2011-01-08 Thread Andrew Spode Miller
Here is the receiver :

Bus 002 Device 004: ID 045e:071d Microsoft Corp.

Microsoft 6000 Series.

Fine once I've unplugged and plugged it back in.

This has been happening for a while actually - but I rarely reboot my
machine, so I've not been that fussed. Be nice if it was solved though!
Let me know if there is anything I can do to help.

** Changed in: xserver-xorg-input-mouse (Ubuntu)
   Status: Incomplete = Confirmed

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 312756] Re: MASTER: support graphics card hot switch

2011-01-08 Thread Anton
@VizFdez

I've experimented the same Error with i915 and radeon module loaded together,
and solved it by blacklisting radeon module.
add a file en /etc/modprobe.d with a .conf name (ex:
custom-blacklist-radeon.conf)
and write into: blacklist radeon
or execute:
echo blacklist radeon | sudo tee /etc/modprobe.d/custom-blacklist-radeon.conf

One other issue i've seen with both modules is that the power consumption
is higher, even when turning off the discrete Ati card by means of
vgaswitcheroo,
compared to having only i915 loaded and turn the card off by acpi_call module.

2011-01-08 Thread Ron Johnson
Changing the GRUB boot param to nosplash (thanks, #147623 !!) just
pushed the problem back to when after I'd logged in. :(

Adding nosplash nouveau.modeset=0 has me logged in without any errors,
but at 800x600 instead of 1280x1024.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 555573] Re: [g41] GPU hung: Failed to submit batchbuffer: Input/output error

2011-01-08 Thread See Furst
I just wanted to remind users who use jh's method to add the ppa
repository that they may have to add the key: I mean it's definitely
need to know if your X won't boot, right?

$ gpg --keyserver subkeys.pgp.net --recv 3B22AB97AF1CDFA9
gpg: requesting key AF1CDFA9 from hkp server subkeys.pgp.net
gpg: key AF1CDFA9: public key Launchpad PPA for Ubuntu-X imported
gpg: Total number processed: 1
gpg: imported: 1 (RSA: 1)
$ gpg --export --armor AF1CDFA9 | sudo apt-key add -

Didn't look like anyone was having any trouble but, just in case.
