[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 749817] Re: natty regression: screen goes black when external monitor is connected
Dear Martin, regarding problem 1: Using the notebook display as my left and the monitor as my right screen, I observe this artifacts, that you describe: - Context menus leave a rectangle painted with background behind (Gnome). - Auto-hiding panels do not reappear when moving the mouse to the border or shortly appear when moving the mouse pointer away from the border (Gnome) - Was thrown back to the login manager after loading a flash video in Firefox. (don't know, if these two are related.) (Unity) These artifacts appear rarely and in an unpredictable manner. regarding problem 2 and 3: - I can't confirm this. My external display just stays black. Sometimes, only the mouse pointer appears but nothing else My setup (as a reminder; posted it already): Thinkpad X201 in Ultrabase connected to external monitor via hdmi-DVI (using the original Lenovo hdmi to DVI converter). -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/749817 Title: natty regression: screen goes black when external monitor is connected ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 748137] Re: unity rendering broken with fglrx (black masks)
apologies, I keep getting my .gconf corrupted which prevents unity from loading. You are correct ... I deleted my profiles .gconf folder and logged back in and Unity is now loading as it used to do using the Radeon driver. I still get graphics corruption (not the fkgrx black window issue posted here) which is the Radeon bug with my specific chip-set. I belive this bug is associated with the shared graphics memory on my netbook. To avoid this I have to boot with radeon.modeset=0, which disables unity anyway! [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 433928] Re: gdm-binary[2671]: WARNING: Unable to find users: no seat-id found

So I must wait about 10 minutes for gdm start. I can load in recovery mode (and must hope that Ubuntu not hang on load), enter login and password in console and then type "sudo /etc/inid.t/gdm start" (I'll see text on gdm's loading: unable to find users :no seat-id found) and gdm starts. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 768863] [NEW] Fullscreen applications show a corrupted lines of pixels at one or more of the margins.
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg For example in the attachment in Firefox you can see a small white line in both left and right of the tab list. It happens after I boot the system and start applications for the first time. Another example Nautilus shows a white line at the bottom of the screen(runs the whole length of the screen). After I focus on another application and then focus back, it returns to normal and everything looks fine but it's initially annoying. I'll post more screenshots when I'll encounter the issue again. Hello Patrick to switch from compiz to metacity and viceversa, by terminal: sudo metacity --replace (to use metacity), this is just a temporarily switch that disable every special effect and gives you the base desktop (without cube or others compiz plugins), at the reboot your system will be restored as ususal, if you don't want to reboot, simply sudo compiz --replace Is possible also in graphical way, but actually i cannot remeber how, because i upgraded to natty months ago. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 681054] Re: screen repeatedly goes black for a fraction of a second (two monitors detected?)
Hi, Bryce, could we coordinate further processing with upstream? I understand everybody has a lot of work to do, so I would like to know you are ready to forward the report and upstream is ready to look into it if I test again. I have tested edgers and especially natty several times only to be asked to test again weeks later since the upstream code might have changed in the mean time. Is there any reason to think that this particular issue may have been addressed, however? Actually, I would expect upstream to be able to answer this question quickly and if they want me to retest I will be happy to do it. Regarding the kernel, well, I have used live CD's for natty. Do you want me to retest maverick with a new kernel? If so, where do I get the experimental version? [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 768986] [NEW] [i915G] graphics corruption, kbuntu causes panic on login
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xserver-xorg-video-intel I have occasional corruption of graphics output in circumstances I cannot yet reproduce.
