[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 718032] Re: Flash fullscreen mode can cause X to freeze the display

Thank you again for trying. However the package you made causes a crash every time a stylus button is clicked probably because of xf86WcmEvent(common, 0, ds);. Hrm, I've got a lurking suspicion that this issue has a timing component (and that could actually be why it works in 3.0, not that it's really fixed but that the timing that some change in timing makes the problem much harder to trigger). If your CPU is being pegged then that could be affecting the results. We'll mark this one as good for now, but if the bisect goes bad we may come back to this point. Public bug reported: everything was fine after a fresh install of ubuntu natty, but after a while, maybe after i installed kubuntu-desktop, this problem rolled out: when i type in an application, after pressing a key, screen blacks out, fan speeds up, and i dont know what happens to applications running (whether they crash or just continue working). i always regain the control by pressing power button and turning off the system. it just happens in several different application (chromium, kde proxy settings, hotot, terminal,...) and in unity, ubuntu classic and kde environment. since it happens randomly (i think so) there is no instructions to how to make the bug happen. also i don't know whether it is about nvidia driver that i have (it runs smoothly without any problems) or about x.org. in addition, sorry to say that i don't know what other information do i have to provide here, but here is output of uname -a: vaio598 2.6.38-8-generic #42-Ubuntu SMP Mon Apr 11 03:31:24 UTC 2011 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux ** Affects: nvidia-graphics-drivers (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/801609 Title: screen blacks out after pressing a key on keyboard (specially enter key) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers/+bug/801609/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 763370] Re: xorg memory leak
Original reporter indicates issue was a client app and is now resolved; closing as fixed. To other commenters on this bug, X memory use is primarily a function of what client apps request; if a client app has a bug and mismanages its X memory, it shows up as increased xserver memory load. But the bug is still in the client app. It's a similar situation with high CPU usage... see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Troubleshooting/HighCPU for some extra notes. Sometimes you can determine what clients are consuming excess memory using the xrestop command, depending on the type of X memory the client is consuming. Anyway, 90% of the time when X has high cpu or memory, you should assume a *client* problem, not a leak in xorg itself. ** Changed in: xorg (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Fix Released -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/763370 Title: xorg memory leak To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/763370/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 786952] Re: Wacom Bamboo Pen - Pressure too sensitive
ODDie is basically correct. It turns out to be an error in the linux- input kernel commit for the Bamboo Pen in wacom_wac.c. The pressure is erroneously set to 255 instead of 1023: static const struct wacom_features wacom_features_0xD4 = { Wacom Bamboo Pen, WACOM_PKGLEN_BBFUN, 14720, 9200, 255, 63, BAMBOO_PT }; A submission correcting the mistake will be made shortly to linux-input. In the meantime on Natty you could use the wacom.ko from input-wacom. HOW TO compile and install it is described on the Bamboo PT HOW TO: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1515562 or the Linux Wacom Project mediawiki site. Or you could use Irie Shinsuke's PPA which uses input-wacom and is linked on the HOW TO. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xf86-input-wacom in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/786952 Title: Wacom Bamboo Pen - Pressure too sensitive To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xf86-input-wacom/+bug/786952/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 801763] [NEW] Typing causes cursor to stick
Public bug reported: Steps to reproduce: 1.) Type a few key strokes. 2.) Try to move the cursor using the touchpad. Expected result: Cursor moves immediately Actual result: Cursor sticks for several seconds This could very well be strongly linked to the hardware used (Samsung N310, using the touchpad, not a mouse), so let's see if anyone else can reproduce. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 801600] Re: X11 does not tolerate errors in /etc/X11/xorg.conf
Max, you haven't indicated what version of Ubuntu you're reporting this against. Also, you should indicate whether you're running gdm or lightdm. I've confirmed that in oneiric with lightdm it doesn't start up failsafex if there is an error in xorg.conf - but I think that's more due to lack of some sort of failsafe support in lightdm, than an issue in X, which in fact is already in the plans. However, if you are using gdm, and/or are on a release before oneiric, then there is probably a different problem at play. Anyway, let me know which window manager you're using. (Really, you should be filing bugs using 'ubuntu-bug xorg', because it includes a number of files that help me see how your system is set up.) ** Package changed: xorg-server (Ubuntu) = xdiagnose (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: xdiagnose (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete ** Summary changed: - X11 does not tolerate errors in /etc/X11/xorg.conf + display manager does not start a gui session if errors are present in /etc/X11/xorg.conf -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/801600 Title: display manager does not start a gui session if errors are present in /etc/X11/xorg.conf To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xdiagnose/+bug/801600/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 798049] Re: nvidia-* and fglrx need to be migrated to per-architecture gl_conf alternative
In comment 13: Yes, we have to upload a new mesa and set versioned breaks. Assuming that was a reply to comment 12, that wasn’t what I was worried about. Even when a new mesa is uploaded with versioned breaks, it will still have the problem I described: “Hmm, it’s still not possible for me to install nvidia-current on x86_64 but configure it to not be used, because although x86_64-linux- gnu_GL.conf can be overridden by the mesa version, there is no mesa version of i386-linux-gnu_GL.conf, and nvidia’s i386-linux-gnu_GL.conf includes the 64-bit libraries too.” I know that removing all non multiarch gl_conf alternatives may not seems exactly a good idea but I've noticed that installing a multiarch alternative beside a non multiarch one would fail because they point to the same files (despite using different links). My suggestion was not that you should install the multiarch alternative beside the non-multiarch alternative pointing to the same files. It was “It should only delete the [non-multiarch alternative] belonging to itself.” This is what libgl1-mesa-glx.postinst does, and it’s what I did in my patch: case $1 in configure) # on upgrade from previous versions, clean up our non-arch-qualified # alternative if dpkg --compare-versions $2 lt-nl 275.09.07-0ubuntu2; then update-alternatives --remove gl_conf /usr/lib/nvidia-current/ld.so.conf fi # Deal with alternatives -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to mesa in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/798049 Title: nvidia-* and fglrx need to be migrated to per-architecture gl_conf alternative To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fglrx-installer/+bug/798049/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 782855] Re: missing pixels (horizontal lines) in font rendering
I have a theory that this may be related to heat. I almost never see bad fonts immediately after booting, but after a long session where the fan has been on a lot, the fonts will get worse and worse. If I suspend for a while, sometimes they get better, but I have seen corrupted fonts immediately upon resuming from suspend, so I'm not entirely convinced. I should stress that this doesn't happen in Lucid, so even if it's heat releated, it's definitely caused by a software change. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/782855 Title: missing pixels (horizontal lines) in font rendering To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/782855/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
