[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 881821] [NEW] Cursor randomly drops at zero in Gimp
Public bug reported: Hi, When using a Wacom tablet with Gimp in Oneiric the cursor randomly drops at zero on one axis or the other, making the software unusable. The bug is reported on Gnome's Bugzilla and the discussion pointed out that the cause may be the driver or GTK. See the report for the complete discussion and a screencast of the problem: http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=661872 The problem did not exist in Natty. I have also installed the xserver- xorg-input-wacom package from Natty in Oneiric with no success. ** Affects: xf86-input-wacom (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xf86-input-wacom in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/881821 Title: Cursor randomly drops at zero in Gimp To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xf86-input-wacom/+bug/881821/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 745112] Re: [arrandale] desktop is messed up with external monitors (x86_64)
I can confirm heavy problems with oneiric. My Laptop (Lenovo X201s on a docking station) is connected via display port to a 19 Dell screen. This screen stays black when I activate it via gnome or fn+f7. Sometimes (i.e. not reproducible) the screen gets a signal after multiple rounds of pressing fn+f7 (~20 times). Rebooting the laptop with the monitor switched off an switching on when I am logged in again does not help at all. In dmesg the following logs appear: [ 150.471512] [drm] Changing LVDS panel from (-hsync, -vsync) to (-hsync, +vsync) [ 151.315930] [drm:intel_dp_complete_link_train] *ERROR* failed to train DP, aborting [ 152.325743] [drm] Changing LVDS panel from (-hsync, +vsync) to (-hsync, -vsync) [ 153.441943] [drm:intel_dp_complete_link_train] *ERROR* failed to train DP, aborting [ 155.196290] [drm:intel_dp_complete_link_train] *ERROR* failed to train DP, aborting [ 171.041755] [drm:intel_dp_i2c_aux_ch] *ERROR* too many retries, giving up I will provide further information as needed. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/745112 Title: [arrandale] desktop is messed up with external monitors (x86_64) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/745112/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 839338] Re: [arrandale] GPU lockup render.IPEHR: 0x01820000
As I reported a duplicate of this: hard to say, as the bug was reported automatically without my being aware of anything amiss. I have seen odd lock-ups after resume from memory, most recently a week or two ago, though I don't know whether they are the same issue - it is hard to work out anything useful about them, as the backlight is not enabled, I can only just see that the laptop is stuck in text mode with what might (but I can't be sure) be a kernel panic backtrace, and the crash kernel which I installed and tested via sysrq obstinately refuses to start (as far as I can tell with no backlight). [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 882143] [NEW] Separate x-screens option does not result in a desktop manager on the 2nd screen
Public bug reported: In a dual monitor setup, using the nvidia driver 'current' (because 173 won't even allow for settings to be changed), the Separate X Screens option results in a desktop on one (the main) screen, and the other screen with a blank white background and the default X cursor. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 881046] Re: Panning in a virtual monitor is not possible after upgrade to Ubuntu 11.10
In the ubuntu-users mailing list somebody suggested that this may be a bug in the X server itself, caused by a fix to https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=20334 (Mouse shouldn't move into area outside the monitors). I don't know the internals of the xlib randr extension, but if the suggestion above is correct, how could a bug concerning a dual monitor setup affect panning on a single monitor? [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 813343] Re: nvidia drivers, second monitor covered by black
I'm having the same symptom as that of Michael, #34. Also a Quadro card. I cannot get Twinview to work since I upgraded to Ubuntu 11.10. My computer is a Dell Optiplex 960, with a Dell-supplied nVidia Quadro NVS 420 card, connected via DVI to two Dell 2009W monitors. Until Monday, I was successfully using my two monitors in twinview mode, using the nVidia restricted driver, and Ubuntu 10.04. On Monday, I performed a step-wise upgrade to 11.10. Since that time, I have not been able to get dual monitors to work. A single monitor setup with the nvidia driver works fine. When I use nvidia-settings to enable the second monitor, and then reboot, the second monitor initially flashes the normal ubuntu desktop color, and then immediately goes to a grayish- white screen. If I move the mouse pointer to the second monitor, the pointer changes from an arrow to the old X-windows X pointer. If I right-click the screen of the second monitor, it will change to the normal color. But doing anything else causes it to go white again. Also in this mode, Unity running on the primary screen behaves oddly. For example, files sitting on the desktop cannot be moved with the mouse. Another notable point is that when I use nvidia-settings to enable the secondary monitor, the Twinview choice is shaded and not available. I tried purging all nvidia files with apt-get and removing xorg.conf to start over, and then installed nvidia-current from PPA, but it did not help. I am running 64-bit Oneiric, and the nvidia driver is 285.05.09. For now, I am using a single monitor, hoping that this is a bug that can be fixed soon. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/813343 Title: nvidia drivers, second monitor covered by black To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/813343/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

I have a similar problem: Background: * Acer Aspire Revo, with Nvidia ION (usually just running XBMC standalone) * I've been using Oneiric since it was officially released on on 2011.10.10. * Previously I was using Ubuntu 10.10, also with the nvidia drivers Symptom: * Everything working perfectly, using nvidia config tool to setup xorg.conf to make use of the 1080p resolution of my TV * A couple of days ago I rebooted, and got a blank screen * The xorg logs showed an error related to no screen found Attempt at fixing: * Removed the xorg.conf file and rebooted * Xorg run correctly, but in a lower resolution mode (which is the reason I need to use nvidia config to force 1080p) * I get into nvidia config, set everything up and overwrite xorg.conf * Now I reboot the platform and the problem seems to be gone Now, for some weird reason, after a second reboot I get the exact same symptom... blank screen. The Xorg.conf file seems to be exactly as the nvidia config tool left it. Again, if I repead the fix I recover my screen but will only last until I reboot a couple of times.
