After running amdcccle and configuring displays again it continues to run okay, however as usual no settings are retained at next logout or power up. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 835817] Re: xrandr client truncates pixel clock freq.
** Description changed: In Ubuntu 10.04 when adding new modes using --newmode the pixel clock is truncated, for example 119.9 will become 119. This is due to check_strtod in xrandr.c returning an int when it should be returning in double. This bug is already fixed upstream. Please consider adding the following patch to either -updates or -backports, which every is more appropriate. Thank You. + + [IMPACT] Unable to get the required pixel clock and hence potential for + difficulty in getting some video systems to operate correctly. Probably + fairly rare. + + [Development Fix] It's working in current development versions, but + hasn't been explicitly tracked. + + [Stable Fix] Original reporter reports that the patch at + http://cgit.freedesktop.org/xorg/app/xrandr/commit/?id=27f86db064a5ea60b942fd3d3ddeb462d980df9b + is the required fix. + + [Test Case] From comment #3:It's easy to reproduce, for example: + + xrandr --newmode 640x480_75.00 30.75 640 664 728 816 480 483 487 504 -hsync +vsync + xrandr + + The output will be: +... + 640x480_75.00 (0x115) 30.0MHz + h: width 640 start 664 end 728 total 816 skew 0 clock 36.8KHz + v: height 480 start 483 end 487 total 504 clock 72.9Hz + + Notice how the pixel clock freq. was truncated to 30.00 and the refresh + rate is 72.9 instead of 75.0 like it should be. + + [Regression Potential] Apparently small; although one has to worry about + changing something like xrandr. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to x11-xserver-utils in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/835817 Title: xrandr client truncates pixel clock freq. The recommended as well as the current proprietary driver provided by Ubuntu do not work with my graphics card. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 770082] Re: missing 10-wacom.conf
Hi Fabio, I've always assumed this was a packaging bug. The newer upstream xf86 -input-wacom versions will try to write a 50-wacom.conf to /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d. It's not aware of the Debian/Ubuntu custom location /usr/lib/X11/xorg.conf.d for kernel 2.6.32's hybrid X server 1.7. Maybe an extra rule to direct the 10-wacom.conf to the correct place was inadvertently dropped from the xserver-xorg-input-wacom package? Or if the .conf is packaged with other .conf's in another package it was inadvertently left out? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xf86-input-wacom in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/770082 Title: missing 10-wacom.conf To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xf86-input-wacom/+bug/770082/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 886887] [NEW] screen saver after going into blank screen, resumes to all-white screen, no unlock dialog
You have been subscribed to a public bug: When the screen saver kicks in, when I attempt to unlock the screen, I don't get an unlock dialog, just a white screen. I have found a work-around - close the lid so the laptop goes into suspend-to-RAM mode, then open it. Then I get an unlock screen and I can use the machine. Last night I installed oneiric and updated all packages. I left the machine alone for awhile and the screen saver kicked in, blanking the screen. When I tapped a key, the screen turned back on but displayed an all-white screen instead of an unlock prompt. Nothing seemed to affect the white screen. I tried assuming that the unlock dialog was there but not visible and typed my password. No effect. I tried Ctl-Alt-F1 to get a console window, no effect. I had not yet installed openssh-server, so I couldn't try sshing into the machine. I ended up hard-booting the machine. A little while later the same thing happened, this time I hadn't been doing anything in particular with the machine. I had just booted it up, opened a couple of terminals and a few firefox windows. I tried the above again, but no effect. Then I thought of suspending and resuming, to see if that fixed the problem. It did. My machine is a thinkpad t520 with optimus graphics; nvidia graphics and on-board intel graphics. I set the BIOS to always use the intel graphics under my old install (Lucid) so it should still be set to that. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 92599] Re: Incorrect (low/stuttering) refresh rate with NVIDIA driver
I have smooth animations on everything compiz-related EXCEPT window movement, file dragging, and the like. It slowly degrades after a while of usage. This has been an issue for me since Natty and the introduction to compiz 0.9.*. This is both on my nvidia gtx 560 and Intel i915. I've tried all the workarounds mentioned in this bug, bug 763005, and bug 86106. There have been absolutely no improvements. Am I even in the right bug report? Should I report a new one? What should I name it so it does not get merged in with the current cluster of performance bugs? Should I upload a video demonstrating the behavior? Is my behavior unique amongst the problems documented across the three bugs? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/92599 Title: Incorrect (low/stuttering) refresh rate with NVIDIA driver To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/nvidia-drivers-ubuntu/+bug/92599/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 771788] Re: nVidia driver activated and apparently being used but reported as not being used by jockey-gtk
hi Allessandro, yep, I have 3D-effect running on my machine. But what is not working properly for me is the Gnome3-desktop. Nautilus crashes when klicking the icon in the dock. But what is strange to me is, that I can open nautlus through Atl+F2 and gksu nautilus. That means, I can only open Nautilus as root. But what I want to know: why is that?? And hwat also is strange to me: when I want to logg into the normal Gnome2-desktop, I get the error-message: failed to load Gnome- Classic session. I also don't know, why that is. I am still looking for figuring that out. But for comeing back to the proprietary driver: yep, for me this driver works fine and also film-videos have cool 3D-effects now. you will find out if this works, if you follow the instructions shown in the links, I posted in my previous comments and also I do not experience any emergency-shutdown anymore, since I use nvidia-current. Also the overheating-problems are gone since I use this driver since a few weeks now. I am really happy with this new nvidia-driver. And as I said: the proprietary ones are the resue for the nvidia-graphic-cards because the opensource one (nouveau-driver) would have killed my GPU and my graphiccard. If I had continued useing the opensource-one, my GPU would have died within two or three weeks. Greetings Linuxexperte Also gaming is no problem anymore. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 886974] [NEW] Control shift not working after setxkbmap ctrl:nocaps
Public bug reported: Control (capslock)-shift+tab does not register after turning capslock into a control key via setxkbmap -option ctrl:nocaps. This only happens under an xubuntu oneiric install (it doesn't occur on another computer under a xubuntu session where I have unity also installed -- so it may be a specific package causing the problem). This bug occurs reliably; I can create an empty new account and the bug persists. This is a show stopper given that the bug prevents doing control-shift- tab in Firefox, etc. ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 11.10 Package: xserver-xorg-input-evdev 1:2.6.0-1ubuntu13 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.0.0-12.20-generic 3.0.4 Uname: Linux 3.0.0-12-generic i686 NonfreeKernelModules: wl fglrx ApportVersion: 1.23-0ubuntu3 Architecture: i386 Date: Sun Nov 6 20:11:51 2011 InstallationMedia: Xubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot - Beta i386 (20110921.3) ProcEnviron: PATH=(custom, user) LANG=en_US.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: xserver-xorg-input-evdev UpgradeStatus: No upgrade log present (probably fresh install) ** Affects: xserver-xorg-input-evdev (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: apport-bug i386 oneiric -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-evdev in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/886974 Title: Control shift not working after setxkbmap ctrl:nocaps To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-evdev/+bug/886974/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 851526] Re: 3D no longer works after latest updates
Hi Scott, I have not been running Unity 3D for the past week or so (switched over to GNOME Shell on my desktop), but when I last used it everything seemed fine performance-wise except the lenses being just slightly slow and the Alt+Tab window switcher performing so slowly as to be almost painful to use. I get none of these performance problems with the 11.10 install on my laptop, which instead suffers from window flickering when switching between windows on the same workspace (see bug 881003). At any rate, I imagine these would all be separate bugs on their own and don't belong here. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 92599] Re: Incorrect (low/stuttering) refresh rate with NVIDIA driver
@Chauncellor... If disabling DynamicTwinView didn't work for your nvidia system, try setting this in CCSM: Detect Refresh Rate = OFF Refresh Rate = the real refresh rate of your monitor, maybe even higher. If that still doesn't work then you are not experiencing bug 92599. But read on... In CCSM again, go to the Workarounds section and enable: Force full screen redraws (buffer swap) on repaint. If that solves your problems then you're probably experiencing tearing, not stuttering or a low frame rate, so you actually have bug 880707. Finally, please confirm you are experiencing stuttering, and _not_ tearing. If you're unsure about the difference please log a new bug with a video. Link to the new bug from one of the existing bugs like this one so myself and other people see it. Don't worry too much about the title of the bug. A nice clear video should allow us to accurately classify the bug and not accidentally merge it with unrelated bugs.
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 878235] Re: System unusable after update
Well I had an updated version of fglrx installed (not from the repos) which worked fine before this update. I tried to install from the repos but there were all kinds of errors, it also would not reinstall. I have finally managed to force uninstall the latest driver and reinstall the driver from the repos. I am now back in my system, working correctly. I will avoid the latest fglrx until I can be certain that something in Ubuntu won't break it during the next update. It therefore appears that something in xorg-server is incompatible with fglrx 8.881, in this version of Ubuntu at least. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/878235 Title: System unusable after update To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/878235/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
