[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 798868] Re: unity video tearing when moving windows in oneiric with nvidia-current
Omer, I think this should still affect Unity because of the bug description, and because all evidence so far suggests the root cause of the tearing regression was the UnityFBO code (details in bug 861061). Though, if the proposed fixes solve this bug for Fabien then this is probably a duplicate of bug 880707. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/798868 Title: unity video tearing when moving windows in oneiric with nvidia-current To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/compiz-core/+bug/798868/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

@Chascon Huh, it's possible that's related, but to be honest I just don't know enough about the affected systems to determine if those two issues are related, I'm just a bug triager. Feel free to open another report regarding the problem with installing DRI drivers and mention this bug, and hopefully someone more informed can make the determination as to whether these two problems are related. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 877754] Re: xorg configures my video card as vesa and should be vga
I have installed linux mint 12. Gnome 3 still does the same thing. However in mate it installs it correctly. It looks like gnome 3 is using the wrong xorg trident driver. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 891107] Re: fglrx driver does not install correctly/work with 6470M HD Radeon
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected oneiric running-unity ubuntu ** Description changed: I tried to enable the propriety driver for my 6470 HD Radeon card. I used the Additional Drivers in the system settings page, running ubuntu 11.10. Two options come up: ATI/AMD proprietry FGLRX graphics driver and ATI/AMD proprietry FGLRX graphics driver (post release updates). I install the first one, reboot, and check the Additional Drivers again. The first driver is indicated that it is active, however when I run fglrxinfo at the command line I get: X Error of failed request: BadRequest (invalid request code or no such operation) Major opcode of failed request: 155 (GLX) Minor opcode of failed request: 19 (X_GLXQueryServerString) Serial number of failed request: 12 Current serial number in output stream: 12 So I don't think it is installed. I then try to install the second driver with the post release update. This one never seems to install. And it never comes up as being activated, despite numerous attempts. So trying I try to do the install from the command line. Running an apt-get reinstall fglrx fglrx-amdcccle fglrx-dev. This appears to install but I get the same result when I run fglrxinfo. I am tempted to do the installation outlined : https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BinaryDriverHowto/ATI but surely this should all work without having all this pain. It's just the device I that has changed. using the name works around this issue. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 763688] Re: [915GM] S-video output doesn't work in Natty (i386)
I can confirm the problem on Xubuntu 11.10 to. I don't get any signal on the TV screen with kernel 3.0.0-12 and kernel 3.0.0-13. The s-video port is detected and listed on xrandr. The refresh rate is given with 30hz, but is seems to bee wrong for a PAL-TV. If I use an installed lucid kernel 2.6.32-36 so I can switch on the s-video port and I get the expected picture on my TV screen. But is not possible to switch the s-video port off again. On Ubuntu 10.04 and Debian Squeeze the s-video port is able to work as expected. Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 707202] Re: X Freezes when un-blanking screen
Very sorry about the delay in getting back to you.. On Mon, 2011-11-28 at 23:02 +, Bryce Harrington wrote: Are you still having this issue? Haven't seen it in many months (maybe a year?) at this point. I don't know whether it was resolved in a more recent X update. This may be fixed. Fwiw, the change in 2:1.7.6-2ubuntu7.5 simply fixes a null deref issue; not something likely to cause an X freeze. However, you could try downgrading xserver to an earlier version just to be absolutely certain. Issues related to unblanking screen more generally are due to faults in the power management settings. So I would suspect gnome-power-manager or the kernel to be more likely culprits. ** Changed in: xorg-server (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete To answer your earlier question, yes, using compiz, and still running 10.04, will probably upgrade to 11.10 soon. -- GPG fingerprint: D54D 1AEE B11C CE9B A02B C5DD 526F 01E8 564E E4B6 Engineering consulting with open source tools http://www.opennovation.com/ -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/707202 Title: X Freezes when un-blanking screen To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/707202/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 899956] [NEW] laptop (panasonic toughbook cf-19) screen won't come on after closing lid
Public bug reported: Oneiric originally worked fine, but after a recent update (sadly not sure exactly what package versions, but one or two weeks ago) this started happening: The system boots fine and everything works, but once I close and re-open the laptop lid, the screen is black (no backlight) and won't wake back up (no matter how many times I close and re-open the lid). This is on AC power. In my power management settings, I have When the lid is closed set to Do nothing (i.e. just blank the screen) for both AC power and battery. The system is still running (I think) but the display stays black. The only way (that I have found) to recover is to reboot. If I switch to a text console before closing the lid, it blanks and unblanks fine. Trying to switch to text console _after_ the screen has gone into permablack has no effect. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 899813] Re: Mouse Freezes upon first log in when interacting with keyboard
Thank you for reporting this issue and bringing it to our attention. However, this bug is not a valid paper cut, as a paper cut should be a small usability issue, in the default or featured applications, that affects many users and is quick and easy to fix. Therefore this bug cannot be addressed as part of the One Hundred Paper Cuts project. Seems like a tough bug to fix, and hence this is not a paper cut. For further info about the paper cut criteria, please read https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PaperCut. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 900111] [NEW] X server on Matrox g550 is all black (no output)
Public bug reported: No video output (all black screen) on matrox g550. Evidence below, but here's a wild guess: this card has a dual-dvii output, and I'm guessing that the mga driver is configured to send the video signal to a non- existent vga port (i.e. older models of g550 had 1 vga, 1 dvi, but this one has 2 dvi). But that's just a wild guess. Anyway ... some details: -- brand new card, purchased a week ago. Box says model G55-MDDE32F pci-express x1 32MB DDR dual output standard height half-width -- lspci identifies it as Matrox Graphics, Inc. MGA G550 AGP (rev 01) Note that this means its slightly mis-identified: its NOT AGP, its a PCI-E 1x card! -- It does output vga resolution during boot; displays standard text 24 rows x 80 columns just fine (and displays BIOS menus just fine, etc). -- monitor and cable work fine when attached to different graphics card, even when driven at high-res (1920x1080). -- tested both connectors; not output on either. -- The xorg.0.log file shows no errors; it does detect monitor just fine, and autoconfigure just fine. -- Forcing xorg.conf to use a lower resolution does not solve problem -- X-server appears to be running fine, based on sound feedback. I was able to (blindly) log in, start web browser, go to youtube, and start a video playing. The sound-track came out the audio; screen was black. In other words, X11 itself seems to be running just fine, but the output is completely blanked. -- Above reports were for Ubuntu karmic; tried upgrading to Oneiric, no improvement. BTW, If I use a DVI-to-VGA adapter, and run a vga cable to the monitor, then one output port shows fine pink black vertical bars; the other port shows all black (and the monitor thinks the all-black screen does have valid video out, at 1600x1200) (the pink-bars vga out is also 1600x1200).
