[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 772873] Re: Vino does not work with compositing
@Josh : Marking Bug #918815 (as well as Bug #915906) as a duplicate of this bug would be inconsistent with what Bryce wrote in message #37 here above. In any case the description of both bugs explicitly refer to this bug and makes them this way dependent on it. FBO textures are not preserved after suspend. For this reason we should redraw the launcher on resume. This is a bug in Unity, not in the Nvidia driver. The main problem here is that, as far as I know, there's no such thing as a handler which reinitialises Unity's components on resume. ** Changed in: nvidia-graphics-drivers (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/915265 Title: Unity launcher corruption on resume from suspend To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/oem-priority/+bug/915265/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 913701] Re: [snb-m-gt2] crashed after first boot running gnome3. False GPU lockup render.IPEHR: 0x7b001804
Creo, there is a roughly similar bug that was fixed in mesa 7.11. If you can reproduce this bug reliably enough, verify it is still happening with current Precise and then install the xorg-edgers PPA (which has mesa 7.11) and verify it no longer occurs after that. Let me know one way or the other. [Note that at the moment xorg-edgers is undergoing a transition so is not installable, but that should be cleared in a few hours. Pay attention to warning messages about this in the PPA description, and hold off updating until it says it's good to go again.] If it does still occur with xorg-edgers, then run 'apport-collect 913701' to add the newer logs to this bug, and we'll forward the issue upstream. ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/913701 Title: [snb-m-gt2] crashed after first boot running gnome3. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 918769] Re: X blink with Vostro 360 and Ubuntu Oneiric and Precise
Hmm, familiar sounding bug, but not really anything in the logs to say what's going on in this case. [16.600] (II) intel(0): Output eDP1 connected [16.600] (II) intel(0): Output VGA1 disconnected [16.600] (II) intel(0): Output HDMI1 disconnected [16.600] (II) intel(0): Output DP1 disconnected [16.600] (II) intel(0): Output HDMI2 disconnected [16.600] (II) intel(0): Output HDMI3 disconnected [16.600] (II) intel(0): Output DP2 disconnected Could be another eDP problem; I see your system has its panel connected like that. There's been a lot of work on that recently due to various bugs. The 3.2 kernel supposedly had quite a few fixes for eDP, but evidently not enough. Presumably if you disable the laptop display and use an external display on VGA or HDMI it should work. That might be worth testing as a workaround if you have a spare monitor. These types of bugs are typically issues in the kernel drm kms code, so given you see different kernels are used in live cd vs. installation, that would be a reasonably thing to look at. In fact, let's have you test an upstream kernel snapshot, just in case this issue is already solved: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/drm-next/ Also test this one, in case the fix is still in testing: http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/drm-intel-next/ If neither of those kernels solves the problem, let me know and we can notify Intel and go from there. ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided = High -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/918769 Title: X blink with Vostro 360 and Ubuntu Oneiric and Precise To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/918769/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 918769] Re: X blink with Vostro 360 and Ubuntu Oneiric and Precise
Oh, also before you test those kernels, please enable drm debug messages: Run `sudo xdiagnose`, it's the first checkbox. Tick that, apply, wait for grub to rebuild, then reboot the machine. Reproduce the issue, and collect `sudo dmesg.txt` which will have the detailed eDP debug messages. ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/918769 Title: X blink with Vostro 360 and Ubuntu Oneiric and Precise To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/918769/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

An external monitor connected will work fine. This setup works fine in previous versions of Ubuntu. (Previous versions need the 'noapic' flag to boot though). Someone else reported similar problems on a Thinkpad L520, and also saw it on Ubuntu 11.10 with the vanilla 3.2.0 kernel compiled from kernel.org source. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 912992] Re: [snb-m-gt2+] Primary laptop display not working, external monitor works fine.
I have subscribed to that bug. I did a dist-upgrade of my machine, as well as installing the latest Kernel you linked and have some interesting results: 1) I now need the 'noapic' flag in my boot options again. Is this the same bug, or a different issue? I have another bug open about this already: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/903558 2) The 'xrandr --output LVDS1 --off; xrandr --output LVDS1 --auto' command succeeds in turning on the other monitor some times. Compiz keeps crashing through, but it does switch on occasionally. 3) I did some testing with the Display settings and my Laptop monitor works on 1360 x 768 and smaller, but the two larger resolutions, 1440 x 900 and 1600 x 900 don't work. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/912992 Title: [snb-m-gt2+] Primary laptop display not working, external monitor works fine. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 916793] [NEW] automatically session logout- without user confirmation/introduction
You have been subscribed to a public bug: This is a curious ans critical thing: I was running several programs on unity desktop 5 on Ubuntu 12.04 (updated to 15.1.2012), also package installations. There happends a automatically session logout , which I have not introduced, out of nothing. I came back to the Ubuntu startslash for logging in automatically. A login in a unity session brings a new session on. The gnome-system-monitor is still showing the programs running from the privious session, but I could not access them from my new logging in. So the old session seems to be running anywhere and anyhow. That's a very bad behaviour. I have not saved my work and no chance to enter the running processes for that anymore, so dataloose is the consequence. As special add: Package installation has not finished it's work, or better: I be not sure that it has done all installations with success. Because I have had not made any updates/upgrades with this run I am optimistic that a newstart of the system does not break boot abilities, but think of this during an update/upgrade. - The system may become broken. I see this as critical bug. Because of not knowing what happens exactly I have filed this against unity v5 with apport call, so you have all logs which gathered by apport. When you have the need for further logs or doings, tell me. Also, dragging the scrollbar to scroll takes forever in both gnome- terminal and terminator; the scrollbar does not jump to the desired location but slowly moves towards it; during this time the terminal is unresponsive. This did not occur in Natty under Gnome 2. This does not occur in xterm. See also https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-terminal/+bug/850649 . I am not positive that this bug lies in xorg, but it is more general that gnome-terminal, and also a comment in that thread requested that someone do a ubuntu-bug xorg in order to capture graphics config info. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 919478] [NEW] Running warzone from source by following the guide results in corruption fo graphics settings
Public bug reported: Compiled ran warzone as a normal user. It ran, and I closed it after altering its display settings. It didn't close properly, leaving the system in a 640x480 resolution. Used display to change it back to 1920x1080 tried to run it again: got a sdl error that it couldn't find a working surface from this point on, firefox showed syptoms of the issue, where scrolling resulted in lag. Dragging widows resulted in lag with segments of the windows staying behind the mouse. glxgears had no noticeable slowdown. I had to reinstall xserver-xorg-core and the mesa drivers, as well as regenerate the xorg config using dpkg to fix the issue. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 901386] Re: Ubuntu 3.2 kernels vs. nvidia-current vs GTX 560 (Mainline works)
Based on the last comment, and the original reporter's comment #16 it sounds like this might now be worked around in the distro. Can someone confirm the original reported problem (failure to boot) is resolved? Comment #17 suggests there may be secondary problems (which may or may not be a consequence of the fix), so I'll leave the bug open for now. It would be helpful if someone can pin down what those issues are and if they are indeed a result of disabling IOMMU. Even though this issue sounds like it's been worked around in the kernel, I'd like to see this escalated to nvidia. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 898784] Re: Distorted screen on MacBook Air 3, 2 (GT216 10de:08a3)
You have a nVidia Corporation Device [10de:08a3], which is a GT216 (GeForce 320M), however the nvidia 290.10 driver's README only lists that it supports the 10de:08a5 version of the GT216, so I wonder if that could be part of the problem. However that doesn't explain why it would work on oneiric and then fail on precise. I see they have a beta 290.53 driver but it's windows only, and I don't see mention of any fixes for GeForce 3xxM series hardware. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-nouveau in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/898784 Title: Distorted screen on MacBook Air 3,2 (GT216 10de:08a3) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/nouveau/+bug/898784/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
