[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 933355] [NEW] Middle-click on MacBook Pro touchpad no longer works
You have been subscribed to a public bug: On my mid-2009 MacBook Pro, running Precise since alpha with continual updates, middle-clicks have recently stopped working. Normally on these laptops, pushing down the trackpad with one finger is a left-click; pushing it down with two fingers is a right-click; and pushing it down with three fingers is a middle-click. Of these, the middle-click gesture stopped working. The other two still work. I don't know what it's trying to do instead of middle-click, but it's trying to do something. When I press down with 3 fingers on the desktop, the mouse pointer vanishes as with a normal click, but dragging with the 3 fingers pushed down does not seem to do anything. I have “enable mouse clicks with touchpad” disabled — that's tapping, whereas this touchpad can physically click down. I tried disabling two- finger scroll but it made no difference. ** Affects: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Incomplete -- Middle-click on MacBook Pro touchpad no longer works https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/933355 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-synaptics in Ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 920131] [NEW] Machine locks up when logging out from Desktop
You have been subscribed to a public bug: When I log out from LXDE or XFCE using the logout-shutdown button in the taskbar, the logout takes a very long time during which the machine is frozen. Not even existing ssh sessions work. I'd expect the logout to take a few seconds, rather than a few minutes, and I would expect to be able to continue to use ssh while the logout is occuring in the GUI. The bug is present with NO nvidia-current installed. In fact, the picture I attached a few days ago was taken after booting from a live CD (well, pen drive). [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 918277] Re: Mouse freezes after a couple of time.
Just want to report that I have this problem as well on an HP 2740P running 11.10 with kernel 3.2.0-11 It only just recently started to happen (possibly in conjunction with enabling the oneric-proposed sources (however, disabling it and running apt-get update / apt-get upgrade did not revert the problem). Whatever I can provide to assist, please let me know. I can say it is quite repeatable that the mouse will not freeze until the first time that I use the 'super' key to launch the Unity search panel. After that the mouse freezes. Opening a terminal and typing: synclient TouchpadOff=0 Fixes the problem and it does not seem to reoccurr. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 933707] [NEW] Pressure issues
Public bug reported: Testing from the call for testing PPA (sudo add-apt-repository ppa:chasedouglas/clickpad). Source URL : http://www.theorangenotebook.com/2012/02/call-for-testing- clickpad.html Hardware : Samsung Chronos Series 7 using ETPS/2 Elantech Touchpad. scaine@Groovy:~/Misc/Scripts$ lsb_release -rd Description: Ubuntu precise (development branch) Release: 12.04 Before running script : 1. Touchpad was very insensitive. Unusable in fact, unless I specified synclient FingerLow=3 and synclient FingerHigh=8. 2. Single and Double click working 3. Two finger tap for right click working 4. Two finger scrolling working 5. Click and hold, then second to move - doesn't work. But I can single click on window titles and move the same finger, although obviously you run out of clickpad space pretty quickly when you do this. After running script (required each login) : The script works if I specify my xinput value, as does the right-click script (xinput value is required though - no effect if I just run the script without the value). Items 1, 2, 3 and 4 remain unchanged. Item 5, however, now works a treat. I can click with one finger, then apply a second finger to move the window. This is even the case with two finger scrolling enabled - no issues. So the script works for me fine, but the pressure isuses remain. Possibly related to my synclient changes above, but I find the clickpad very sensitive to palm-rest when typing. ** Affects: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: clickpad -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-synaptics in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/933707 Title: Pressure issues To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-synaptics/+bug/933707/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 889068] Re: eog logs me out when I try to turn right or left an image
** Description changed: - When I turn left or right an image, system logs out and I have to log - again on my count + [Impact] + X server crash which can occur when loading or interacting with large pixmap images. + + [Development Fix] + Upstream fixed the issue in the upstream git tree for the -intel driver. It reworks the code that calculates pixmap size limits and ensures properly sized fallback mappings for source, destination, and masking pixmaps. Backporting the patches to the version of -intel we currently have in Precise was straightforward, and have been verified to fix the issue. + + [Stable Fix] + The same patch applied to Precise's -intel applies without modification to Oneiric. A visual inspection of the code shows the surrounding code hasn't really changed so it's expected this patch will work as well in Oneiric as in Precise. + + [Text Case] + 0. watch dmesg and /var/log/Xorg.0.log + 1. Obtain a large jpg file, such as a photo scaled up in gimp to 16M in file size. + 2. Load the photo using eog + 3. If eog successfully loads it, try rotating the image several times + Broken Behavior: Errors will emit to dmesg and X logs, then GPU will lockup and/or the X server will crash + Fixed Behavior: The image will load and rotate without crashes or lockups. + + [Regression Potential] + Unknown at this time. + + [Original Report] + When I turn left or right an image, system logs out and I have to log again on my count (gdb) backtrace full #0 __memcpy_ssse3_rep () at ../sysdeps/i386/i686/multiarch/memcpy-ssse3-rep.S:191 No locals. - #1 0xb739788c in intel_uxa_pixmap_put_image (pixmap=optimized out, src=0x9c6e420 , - src_pitch=32000, x=0, y=0, w=8000, h=8) at /usr/include/i386-linux-gnu/bits/string3.h:52 - dst = 0xa41ee000 Address 0xa41ee000 out of bounds - row_length = 32000 - num_rows = 8 - priv = 0x9ba3298 - stride = 32256 - cpp = optimized out - ret = 0 - #2 0xb739968c in intel_uxa_put_image (pixmap=0x9ba3250, x=0, y=0, w=8000, h=8, src=0x9c6e420 , - src_pitch=32000) at ../../src/intel_uxa.c:769 - priv = 0x9ba3298 - #3 0xb73b0553 in uxa_do_put_image (src_stride=32000, bits=0x9c6e420 , format=2, h=8, w=8000, y=0, - x=0, pGC=0x9c399d0, pDrawable=0x9ba3250, depth=optimized out) at ../../uxa/uxa-accel.c:164 - y1 = 0 - x2 = 159692224 - ok = optimized out - x1 = optimized out - y2 = optimized out - src = 0x9c6e420 - yoff = 0 - uxa_screen = 0x0 - pPix = 0x9ba3250 - pClip = optimized out - pbox = 0x9c1c590 - nbox = optimized out - xoff = 0 - bpp = optimized out - #4 uxa_put_image (pDrawable=0x9ba3250, pGC=0x9c399d0, depth=24, x=0, y=0, w=8000, h=8, leftPad=0, - format=2, bits=0x9c6e420 ) at ../../uxa/uxa-accel.c:202 + #1 0xb739788c in intel_uxa_pixmap_put_image (pixmap=optimized out, src=0x9c6e420 , + src_pitch=32000, x=0, y=0, w=8000, h=8) at /usr/include/i386-linux-gnu/bits/string3.h:52 + dst = 0xa41ee000 Address 0xa41ee000 out of bounds + row_length = 32000 + num_rows = 8 + priv = 0x9ba3298 + stride = 32256 + cpp = optimized out + ret = 0 + #2 0xb739968c in intel_uxa_put_image (pixmap=0x9ba3250, x=0, y=0, w=8000, h=8, src=0x9c6e420 , + src_pitch=32000) at ../../src/intel_uxa.c:769 + priv = 0x9ba3298 + #3 0xb73b0553 in uxa_do_put_image (src_stride=32000, bits=0x9c6e420 , format=2, h=8, w=8000, y=0, + x=0, pGC=0x9c399d0, pDrawable=0x9ba3250, depth=optimized out) at ../../uxa/uxa-accel.c:164 + y1 = 0 + x2 = 159692224 + ok = optimized out + x1 = optimized out + y2 = optimized out + src = 0x9c6e420 + yoff = 0 + uxa_screen = 0x0 + pPix = 0x9ba3250 + pClip = optimized out + pbox = 0x9c1c590 + nbox = optimized out + xoff = 0 + bpp = optimized out + #4 uxa_put_image (pDrawable=0x9ba3250, pGC=0x9c399d0, depth=24, x=0, y=0, w=8000, h=8, leftPad=0, + format=2, bits=0x9c6e420 ) at ../../uxa/uxa-accel.c:202 No locals. - From dmesg: [ 41787.607] (EE) intel(0): Couldn't create pixmap for fbcon ... Public bug reported: Repro steps: * Run Xvfb -ac :99 in a terminal * Run DISPLAY=:99 xinput list in a second terminal Expected: List of input devices appears (XTest, core). Xvfb continues to run. Actual: Xvfb segfaults in first terminal. This problem affects any user of Xvfb who tries to run a client that uses the XInput extension. For example, a user runs a new desktop session, and a session program tries to enumerate the XInput devices (or the user has a startup script containing any xinput commands). There is an upstream patch which I've verified fixes the problem: http://cgit.freedesktop.org/xorg/xserver/commit/hw/vfb/InitInput.c?id=0e7703f9b1927328954a2fc87aac6be244819329 The version of Xorg/Xvfb in Precise has this patch (from inspection of the source tarball for xvfb package). We'd like this to be backported to Lucid ** Affects: xorg-server (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: xorg-server (Debian) Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown ** Bug watch added: Debian Bug tracker #575905 http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=575905 ** Also affects: xorg-server (Debian) via http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=575905 Importance: Unknown Status: Unknown -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/933745 Title: Xvfb: any use of the XInput extension causes Xvfb to crash To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/933745/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 933788] [NEW] X crashes or spins on occasion
Public bug reported: I've been running Ubuntu 12.04 Alpha 2 for about 6 days without issue, but today it has become both unresponsive (X was using 100% CPU (confirmed by SSH login) and refusing to switch to virtual terminal or respond to keyboard/mouse input, fixed by kill -killing X; regular kill didn't kill it) and less stable (X crashed a couple hours after the first incident, bringing me back to the login screen). I have previously used Fedora 16 with this same hardware and it had a similar issue: my system stopped responding to all input (including SSH requests) every few days. The only solution in that case was to hard reboot. How did you install the nvidia drivers? Your symptoms indicate that you've got the nvidia libglx.so (which won't work with Intel) on your system, which is why 3D isn't working. The nvidia drivers don't work on optimus hardware; the “Additional Drivers” capplet shouldn't offer to install them anymore. ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Status: Confirmed = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/874341 Title: glx doesn't work To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/874341/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 933921] Re: 3d screensaver causes unrecoverable system hang
apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected regression-update ** Description changed: Recently I have been seeing random system hangs. I narrowed down the cause to running a 3D screensaver. The hang appears to be a regression from the original 11.10 release because I can run a 3D screensaver overnight from the 11.10 install/live CD but with the latest updates it hangs within 30 minutes. The kernel, system and mce logs don't show anything interesting at the time of the hang from what I can tell. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 745112] Re: [arrandale] desktop is messed up with external monitors (x86_64)
One apparently regression in 3.2.0-16.25 (maybe unconnected to this change?) is that fn-f7 does not seem to have any effect. It was working on the previous kernel I tried, both the Ubuntu ones and my own builds. Turning on the external screen with xrandr does work: xrandr --output DP1 --mode 2560x1600 --set audio off --above LVDS1 Using the displays control panel, the first time I tried, the monitor showed an error about the signal being wrong. I've just tried again and it has worked. So, I'm not sure. Also, after using the monitors control panel, Fn-F7 is working again. (So, perhaps the bug is in userspace?) I'll see if I can get a better description of what the problem is. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/745112 Title: [arrandale] desktop is messed up with external monitors (x86_64) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/745112/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
