[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 914773] Re: [radeon] Compiz memory leak and blank screen unable to login when using radeon driver
** Description changed: + The issue *appears* to be that radeon's implementation of + glXWaitVideoSyncSGI (from libgl1-mesa-glx) hangs and leaks X events + while the screen is locked or asleep. + WORKAROUNDS: - Try each of these, individually and together: 1. Before leaving/locking the PC run ccsm, and in the OpenGL section disable Sync To VBlank. 2. Before leaving/locking the PC, minimize all active windows. 3. Install fglrx driver from AMD/ATI. - ORIGINAL DESCRIPTION: There are two issues. Compiz has a memory leak so it expands to take up all memory plus swap (12 + 4 gig) Unity shows a blank screen and does not come up with a login prompt, only the mouse pointer is displayed. ctl+alt F1 works so you can get into a console and create the attached bug report. This was after killing vviewer and before restarting lightdm I was running KVM and vviewer as well and killed vviewer but still did not get get login screen Killed compiz which freed the memory still did not get login screen had to restart lightdm to get back into Unity and restart everything. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 914773] Re: [radeon] Compiz memory leak and blank screen unable to login when using radeon driver
Actually, the primary leak in _XEnq is going to happen to any OpenGL app, not just compiz. And the secondary leak in PrivateScreen::processEvents() is caused completely by the primary leak. So this is not a compiz-specific issue. It's just that compiz is usually the only OpenGL program that most people are running for long periods. ** No longer affects: compiz-core ** Changed in: compiz (Ubuntu) Status: Triaged = Invalid -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to mesa in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/914773 Title: [radeon] Compiz memory leak and blank screen unable to login when using radeon driver To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/indicator-multiload/+bug/914773/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 937179] Re: horizontal scroll not working
Same with me, I have enabled horizontal scrolling, checked, double checked and triple checked that it's still enabled; it is. It works fine until I put the machine to sleep and then wake it. At that point, vertical scrolling works perfectly, but horizontal scrolling doesn't, even if I move the cursor to the scroll bar. But it will scroll by holding down the left button and dragging the scroll bar to the right or left. The weirdest thing though is that it doesn't do it every time it's woken. Usually, yes, but not always. It's done this since at least 11.04, and if I recall correctly it did it as far back as 10.04 through 10.10. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-synaptics in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/937179 Title: horizontal scroll not working To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-synaptics/+bug/937179/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 936552] Re: MacBookAir 4, 1 trackpad does not work with evdev/multitouch driver
Well I've at least found a workaround. I added 'udevadm settle' right before the 'exec lightdm' in /etc/init/lightdm.conf. As long as that is in place, I do not experience this issue. So, I think this is an issue with boot speed. My machine has almost nothing installed beyond the default, and boots from grub - lightdm in about 5 - 8 seconds. That might explain why you don't see it Seth if you have more things starting at bootup, as that may be enough to delay X long enough for udev to be available. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/936552 Title: MacBookAir 4,1 trackpad does not work with evdev/multitouch driver To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/936552/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 945670] [NEW] computer completely locks up after hibernate
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Most times I try to resume from hibernate (S4), the computer completely locks up a few seconds after it resumes from hibernate. Specifically when this happens, I usually see the login screen where I can resume my existing session. The mouse works for the first few seconds, and I can even begin to type my password. But within seconds, the computer entirely locks up, specifically it no longer reacts to any mouse or keyboard input, including Alt+SysRq+REISUB. I suspect the ATi graphics and the Broadcom wifi chips are part of the problem, as I believe the AMD C-60 hybrid APU is still unsupported in Linux, and Broadcom wifi in Linux is notoriously unstable. The timing of the lockup appears consistent with how long it might take the wifi card to (try to) reestablish wifi connectivity. None that resuming from sleep (S3) usually works fine on my system. Final remarks: I am a highly technical user and can provide additional information upon request if developers want to know something not automatically collected by Apport. Also, I believe all users of my laptop (and similar models too) are afflicted similarly based on threads/discussions on how to try to get everything working properly. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 945877] [NEW] GPU lockup when using glPolygonMode(GL_BACK, GL_LINE)
Public bug reported: I am making an application using OpenGL. Everything works fine, but if I include a call to glPolygonMode(GL_BACK, GL_LINE) in my code, the GPU hangs. Actually I may be wrong. The driver wasn't why it isn't currently working in precise. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 945251] Re: Cannot build wine with GLU support on Precise amd64
Some more research shows that the libglu1-mesa-dev package doesn't include the file /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libGLU.so. Since it conflicts with the i386 package, shouldn't it include this file also if it is to include the required 32 bit dev files? As a workaround, if I have the libglu1-mesa:i386 package installed I can symlink the file /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libGLU.so.1 to the missing file, and then I can build wine with just the libglu1-mesa-dev:amd64 package installed. The problem is widespread, eg libxrandr-dev, libxi-dev, libsane-dev, etc all exhibit this problem. What is the recommended solution? I don't follow what is meant in comment 4 about stitching the components together afterwards. Should the libglu1-mesa:i386 package include libGLU.so as a symlink? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to mesa in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/945251 Title: Cannot build wine with GLU support on Precise amd64 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/mesa/+bug/945251/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 914773] Re: [radeon] Compiz memory leak and blank screen unable to login when using radeon driver
Sounds like better news if the PC was still usable, but the 100MB is still not great. It is however a much lower rate of leakage per hour than before. I would be interested to see what valgrind (or massif) reports as the source of the leaks (or bloat) when vsync is disabled. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 945251] Re: Cannot build wine with GLU support on Precise amd64
Additionally regarding the missing packages, I checked a fresh install of 12.04 in VirtualBox and even though multiarch is enabled and Synaptic shows a bunch of i386 files, some are missing, like libgl1-mesa- dev:i386.
