[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 891295] Re: Key repeat is disabled intermittently
Sorry, actually this problem still occurs from time to time, even with the last version of VMWare (8.0.2 build-591240) Anyway, somehow, I do not like the fact that a third party app like VMWare player/workstation can disturb the handling of my keyboard this way. I understand that a Windows guest VM also need to achieve key repeat, but this should not affect the host indeed. Perhaps we should make the mechanism default to the opposite state (after all, it's enabled by default on Windows) so it would remain enabled when things start to go out of sync between the Host Desktop and a VMWare session. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-keyboard in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/891295 Title: Key repeat is disabled intermittently To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-keyboard/+bug/891295/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 891295] Re: Key repeat is disabled intermittently
Like Sebastian, I too have seen this issue continue to crop up from time to time. The issue doesn't occur as often as it did prior to updating to the latest version of VMware (8.0.2 build-591240), but it does still occur. As such, I wouldn't consider this issue resolved, but it is better than it used to be.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 948895] [NEW] Nvidia driver 295.20 - far to many issues to ship in stable release. Games / cinnamon / gnome3 segfaults - use the previous driver!
Public bug reported: Hi I am deeply worried that Ubuntu 12.04 is going to be released with the latest stable Nvidia driver. At present there are far to many issues with that diver (that is fixed by using the previous one - 290.10) For example 1 . Game not able to run *UNLESS* you run with gdb:- http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=174245 2. Default 295.20 crash on fork call :- http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=174244 3. Cinnamon segfaults with 295.20 :- http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=175501 4. [Regression] 295.17 / 295.20 segfault when searching in gnome3 http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=174049&page=3 These are manjor issue that are going to cause Ubuntu to get a flood of queries wondering why Ubuntu 12.04 is so unstable (when it won't be - the driver is...) Nvidia have acknowledged the issue with the driver "NVIDIA internally filed bug 943126 to track this issue." So a new version will be out shortly I would suggest reverting to 290.10 and moving to the new one when it comes out or its going to be a complete mess on release day. ** Affects: nvidia-graphics-drivers (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: nvidia-graphics-drivers (Arch Linux) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: nvidia-graphics-drivers (Fedora) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Affects: nvidia-graphics-drivers (openSUSE) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: nvidia-graphics-drivers (Arch Linux) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: nvidia-graphics-drivers (openSUSE) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: nvidia-graphics-drivers (Fedora) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/948895 Title: Nvidia driver 295.20 - far to many issues to ship in stable release. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 325074] Re: Window redrawing does not work properly with KDE4 taskbar tooltips.
I have just installed KUbuntu 12.04 (beta), and I can confirm that this bug is gone in this release. I also verified this with the Clemens Eisserer's testcase available in the Freedesktop report (Bug 22566). [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 948938] Re: Mouse input (warp and clipping) broken in Wine 1.4rc6
This a test program by Henri Verbeet. According to its author : "It prints the mouse coordinates to the terminal, you mostly care about "delta" for this bug. Press 'C' to enable / disable clipping, press 'W' to warp the mouse. Note that this doesn't necessarily behave the same as those games, but it should be enough for basic testing of relative mouse events." ** Attachment added: "Input test" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xinput/+bug/948938/+attachment/2828978/+files/input_test.exe -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xinput in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/948938 Title: Mouse input (warp and clipping) broken in Wine 1.4rc6 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xinput/+bug/948938/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 948938] [NEW] Mouse input (warp and clipping) broken in Wine 1.4rc6
Public bug reported: Mouse warp and clipping are broken with Wine (tested with Wine 1.3.37 to 1.4rc6) and Ubuntu 12.04. It works fine with Ubuntu 11.10 and the same versions of Wine. The bug is present with both xserver 1.11.x and 1.12rc. I tried on a desktop and a laptop (with mouse and touchpad), same result. Any application needing these functionalities is unusable (this includes many 3D apps, mostly games). Either the cursor moves too quickly (Crysis, Bioshock), or to the opposite direction it was expected to go (Mass Effect). It may depend on the way the app handles mouse input. Reports confirm that Mass Effect, Crysis 2 and Bioshock are broken (they wereworking fine on Ubuntu 11.10), as long as some 3D level design tools. yeah. I spoke into corruption in the diagonal, and this happens whenever you open a folder. But the screenshot can also see some corruptions in the vertical. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 949071] Re: CRT monitor refresh setting always resets to 60 after reboot
I started another thread on the hlep section here. http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1937190 Another thing I noticed is that after I improperly modified xorg.conf and could not boot being stuck at "checking battery state ok" I restarted with and selected the second menu line. (forget what grub calls it), anyhow I was eventually given several boot options, and when I choose 'failsafe graphics', with the extra line Modeline "1600x1200" 301.81 1600 1752 2120 2808 1200 1200 1204 1264 in xorg.conf, failsafe graphics failed to load the gui to login. To me, that is a bug. Failsafe graphics should not load any xorg.cong dont you think? I had to drop to root login and rm xorg.cong in etc/X11. apport information ** Tags added: apport-collected single-occurrence ubuntu ** Description changed: This appears similar to bug #911636 and bug #874428, but resizing the window does nothing to alleviate the issue. It takes between 30 seconds to 1 minute to load AbiWord, and the program must be killed manually.
