[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 982187] [NEW] direct start into XFCE window manager gets stuck
Public bug reported: New Ubuntu 12.04 beta system installed as Gnome-based. XFCE environment is preferred as Window manager, though. When booting and logging in for the first time directly with XFCE chosen, the desktop creation gets stuck as soon as the multiple virtual screens should be shown in the respective sidebar. Only first screen is displayed, and every opened window is placed in the top left corner, without window manipulation handles. Leaving XFCE is only possible via the kill key combination (Alt-Print-K). If, after booting, a Gnome environment is chosen for the first login, then left immediately, and then the 2nd login is an XFCE one, everything seems to work alright. Once arrived in the working XFCE environment, even frequent stand-by operation is working okay. The detour via the first Gnome login seems to be an effective workaround but is a real nuisance. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 964067] Re: nvidia-current and nvidia-settings fails to install automatically
The problem didn't occur with the most current update. I ran aptitude safe-upgrade and nvidia-current was marked as upgradeable. nvidia-current 295.33-0ubuntu1~oneiric~xup1 = 295.40-0ubuntu1~oneiric~xup1 nvidia-settings 295.33-0ubuntu1~oneiric~xup1 = 295.40-0ubuntu1~oneiric~xup1 nvidia-settings was upgraded transitively. I'd like to leave this bug open until I successfully upgraded to 12.04. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/964067 Title: nvidia-current and nvidia-settings fails to install automatically To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers/+bug/964067/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 954661] Re: backlight brightness not adjustable by default on Dell XPS 13
I've written a patch which provides a new kernel boot param i915.enable_backlight=0. i915.enable_backlight=0 can be used to disable i915 backlight control and the /sys/class/backlight/intel_backlight interface -- useful for systems where intel_backight conflicts with BIOS backlight control. An Ubuntu Precise PPA kernel with the patch applied is here: https://launchpad.net/~kamalmostafa/+archive/i915-enable-backlight Mario/others, please apply the PPA kernel, then boot with i915.enable_backlight=0. This should resolve the problem (it does on my XPS13). Please confirm. ** Patch added: i915-enable-backlight.patch https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/954661/+attachment/3073275/+files/i915-enable-backlight.patch -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/954661 Title: backlight brightness not adjustable by default on Dell XPS 13 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/954661/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 982508] [NEW] USB mouse at docking station ceases to work after screensaver goes active
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Leaving the computer alone for some time (like 1 hour) renders the USB mouse attached to the docking station dysfunct. Touchpad continuously works. Unplugging the USB mouse shortly and re-plugging it again to the docking station makes the mouse functional again. It seems to be happening to me on pretty much a daily basis now. And I think it's always associated with Matlab in some way. It could possibly be when I've launched Matlab with a different display configuration than last time I launched it. I was using Matlab on my laptop at home, and then when I launched it with my laptop docked with a secondary display this morning, the lockup occured immediately. I'm wondering if this is related to bug 44039. The issue would appear to be that it is unable to find a free PLL (or the like) for the eDP after it is turned off. eDP isn't limited to the first pipe, so it should be happy to attach to the second CRTC, just a puzzle as to why it did not. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/946311 Title: only external screen is working with asus zenbook ux31e [eDP1] To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/946311/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Public bug reported: I have my background set to the one that changes throughout the day, but when it becomes time to change the background, the launcher changes, but the background doesn't. This is especially weird because it triggers Appearance to crash when I launch it the first time. I would expect the background to change, but it doesn't. Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 962892] Re: Xorg crashed with SIGABRT in __assert_fail_base() unless clear compiz/unity settings
Hi Neon, If you are running ubuntu 12.04 even if you are running gnome-shell, you have compiz and unity installed. To verify go to terminal, type the following two commands and note the output. unity --version ( that is unity (space) --(two dashes)version. You should see the installed versions of unity and compiz. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 982710] [NEW] Nvidia 295.40 - Ubuntu 12.04 Beta 2 Fresh Install (slow performance in Unity 3D)
Public bug reported: Summary: This is a fresh install of Ubuntu 12.04 Beta 2 to test an issue that came up after patching a 12.04 system. The system was upgraded from 11.10 and ran without issue until 4-15 when the latest updates were applied. On the advice of Sarvatt I ran ubuntu-bug nvidia-current to capture these details. I will also be patching this system and rerunning the testing. Reports will also be sent to Nvidia. Expected Behavior: Unity 3D runs smoothly 3D Games run smoothly Actual Behavior: Unity 3D runs smoothly 3d Game run smoothly except when leaving the game... the desktop takes 15-20 seconds to redraw.
