[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 987007] Re: Upgrade from 11.10 to 12.4beta2 not possible with fglrx installed
Well, the difference between update-amanger refusing the upgrade and running through was disabling the fglrx binary driver. The PPA that had the driver you see in the logs was never used to install the fglrx driver. The non canonical PPAs where my first guess of course, so I disabled them all and tried to run the upgrade again, leading to the same error message. That's when I started took into the jockey logs and discovered the messages about fglrx which gave me the idea to disable the AI driver. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to fglrx-installer in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/987007 Title: Upgrade from 11.10 to 12.4beta2 not possible with fglrx installed To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu-release-notes/+bug/987007/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 990977] [NEW] Xorg freeze
Public bug reported: It was the proprietary nvidia drivers that were doing it (version 295.4). They don't like my GeForce 8400m g card one little bit). My Ubunutu 12.04 installation was almost completely unusable: it was running slowly and hanging / freezing frequently, especially when using the ethernet (e.g. software centre or Firefox). After much frustrating (because of the hangs/ constant hard power-downs) searching I found this: http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=178460 and uninstalled the proprietary drivers (I attempted to install the older versions from Software Centre but apparently they aren't compatible). Now running Ubuntu 2d but at least I haven't had a crash since! Initially, this produced hangs with the number 0x7b009004, but those have recently been fixed (bug 42538). This happens on Ubuntu 12.04 Beta+ with mesa from the xorg-edgers PPA (8.0.1+git20120301+8.0.a3080987). Setting severity to critical as that's what seems to be used for GPU hangs. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 991192] [NEW] Windows go blank when position is swapped
Public bug reported: Just upgraded to 12.04 via clean install but preserving my old data files. Now using Gnome fallback to preserve the desktop and work-flow that I am familiar with. Also using Compiz, rotating cube enabled. Here is the bug: when two windows overlap in a given desktop and I click the partially covered one in order to bring it to the front the change of position takes place but both windows go blank. If I minimize and then restore the window the contents return to the display. If I click again on the window that was originally on top that, too, restores the display. If the windows do not overlap then there is no problem switching between them. This started yesterday with the upgrade. Don't now if it is a bug in 12.04 or Compiz or elsewhere. Hope this helps. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 990357] Re: X randomly restarts
OK, I did my best to do what I am being told on http://wiki.ubuntu.com/X/Backtracing. You can see the attachment. Note: I don't get the logouts anymore. X just stops responding. I have installed Nvidia Proprietary drivers, then went back to Nouveau, behaviour is same. System just freezes, and does not respond. But I can connect through ssh and run commands. ** Attachment added: gdb-Xorg.txt https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/990357/+attachment/3116890/+files/gdb-Xorg.txt -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/990357 Title: X randomly restarts To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/990357/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 550625] Re: Alps touchpad is recognized but synaptics clients and scrolling do not work
@Seth, thanks for the driver. Great job. I have an HP Pavilion dm4-2075 running Ubuntu 11.10. After installing version 0.10 of your driver (post #492), I got the following results: + Two-finger vertical scrolling works + Two-finger horizontal scrolling works + Disabled while typing works None of these worked before. Once again, thanks. I was so impressed by the way this community works that I finally decided to join. I have been using Ubuntu for over 5 years now, and I feel I should contribute to this great project somehow.
