Turns out, the current NVIDA driver (version 295.49) which is shipped with Precise has a known bug that needs to be fixed in the next releases. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 949097] Re: Serial Wacom Tablet touch not in absolute mode when logged in
Hmm, that's odd. The scripts is being executed (after I removed the stuff you accidentally placed after #!/bin/bash). I tested it by replacing the xsetwacom part with mkdir /home/tomas/itsworking. I know little about Linux, but I guess it could be that, for example, (i) the problem is somewhere in the code that is being executed after your scripts or (ii) the script is being executed before the Wacom stuff is initialised, i.e. xsetwacom is not properly recognised. I'll see if I can come up with a working workaround. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 982485] Re: [regression] Nvidia 295.40: Unity 3D does not work at all with the new nvidia driver
#99 @Shaman Neither the 295.49 nor the beta 302.07 Nvidia drivers worked for me. If anything they made things worse. That leaves me without a decent solution for my desktop now that cairo-dock insists on 3d acceleration. (Surely you don't expect me to use Unity?) I am seriously considering another distro unfortunately, though I suppose anything that tries to use compiz will be useless. #103 @Wal Did you see the post right before yours? Neither the 295.49 nor the 307.07 drivers fix the unity 3d /compiz errors for my card (280 GTX). It seems I personally can run gnome (3D) however. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 982485] Re: [regression] Nvidia 295.40: Unity 3D does not work at all with the new nvidia driver
I didn't check the latest current driver (295.49) but 302.07beta works fine for me. I use Ubuntu 11.04 gnome2.32+compiz. 3D effects and everything else works well. Unity works, too. My steps: 1. apt-get update 2. Unload all gfx drivers from Hardware Drivers window (proprietary drivers window). 3. apt-get remove nvidia-current nvidia-common 4. chmod +x NVIDIA-Linux-x86-302.07.run 5. CTRL+ALT+F2 6. gdm stop (or lightdm or kdm) 7. ./NVIDIA-Linux-x86-302.07.run 8. gdm start (or lightdm or kdm) 9. Done I will do the same with 295.49 if this drivers will works for others. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to the bug report. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/982485 Title: [regression] Nvidia 295.40: Unity 3D does not work at all with the new nvidia driver To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/nvidia-drivers-ubuntu/+bug/982485/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Installing 295.49 or 302.07 don't solve my problem. X session freezes after about minute. My hardware is iMac and GeForce 8800 GS. I also installed OpenSUSE 12.1 (KDE) to the same machine that works with nouveau driver, but installing NVIDIA driver resulting same problem that I have with Ubuntu 12.04. Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 948053] Re: nvidia-96 and nvidia-173 uninstallable on Precise
There is some discussion in the Nvidia forum at http://www.nvnews.net/vbulletin/showthread.php?t=179489 Quote from #15 We're working on new ABI support for legacy branches right now; we're very sorry for the delays, we've been very busy with other stuff. So there is still hope that updated drivers will be made available by Nvidia. For the time being, In my opinion it would have been necessary to put a warning into the release notes of Ubuntu 12.04. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 994714] [NEW] [drm] nouveau: Unexpected pageflip in channel 3.
Public bug reported: This happened after about 30 minutes of watching a flash video in fullscreen (using Firefox): the video froze, leaving just the audio playing, and the display no longer responded to user input until I ssh'd in and killed gnome-session for the user (after which LightDM login came up and things worked again). According to user this freezing has been occurring daily, sometimes multiple times a day, since upgrading to Precise. It never occurred with Lucid. We've yet to try if using 2D desktop or disabling KMS helps. (Apport wouldn't send this report without me lying to it that I was referred here by tech support, but I wasn't.) Bug #994203 looks similar, but it's about NV4e whereas this is an NV4c. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 994585] [NEW] Keyboard/Mouse erratically broken when switching between vmware-player VM and Unity Desktop
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Sometimes when switching from a vmware-player VM to Unity desktop, the keyboard key repeat and Ctrl+c/Ctrl+v stops working. At the same time, the mouse gets incredibly slow, to a point it becomes unusable. Looking at g-c-c keyboard/mouse, settings/sliders are at usual places. Just touching these settings/sliders slightly is enough to reload usable settings. I can see this behavior in many install of VMware-player 4 series, during PP and now OO cycle. I'm currently using VMware Player 4.0.2 build-591240 on fresh installs of PP. Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 993907] Re: [nvidia GT 240] no desktop after X started
Hi Could you please clarify a. Which build to use, Ubuntu 12.04 LiveCD (64-bit Desktop)? b. Just write ISO to usb via usb-creator default settings (currently running in Lucid 10.04.4)? Not too sure what you mean by 'with persistence'... c. Once I reproduce the bug I don't have a way to do a controlled shutdown, have to do a hard reset, will that affect anything further? d. Do I have to physically remove the NVidia card or is it sufficient to disable in BIOS as before (i.e. set BIOS to use onboard Intel GMA graphics)? Will this affect the outcome? e. When you say boot a live session connected I assume you mean just boot from USB live session with internet connected? Thanks!
I've got a slow computer and during the upgrade I by chance even saw the text removing nvidia-96 scrolling by, but at that moment it was already far too late to think about staying on Oneiric. -- You received this bug notification because you are subscribed to the bug report. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/948053 Title: nvidia-96 and nvidia-173 uninstallable on Precise To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/nvidia-drivers-ubuntu/+bug/948053/+subscriptions I noticed on the nvidia drivers page that they released some updates on may 2.
