[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 966744] Re: Resume from suspend leaves me with black screen or a screen of the desktop before it suspended (though the mouse still moves/changes cursor)
Daniel, I got multiple freeze/stacktraces - they're all exactly the same as the one I uploaded. Compiz also wasn't using any notable cpu consumption and was taking up 100 Mb of memory, which is not any different than normal, really. So it just *dies*. Also, I'm not sure if you ever saw this in the slew of comments on this report, but if I kill compiz/compiz-decorator and replace with metacity, then shove a 'compiz --replace' onto tty7 via tty1 then the same exact frozen screen will return. So would you indeed say this is still intel's fault? Some sort of triple buffering issue? [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 966744] Re: Resume from suspend leaves me with black screen or a screen of the desktop before it suspended (though the mouse still moves/changes cursor)
Hello everyone, I have also been experiencing this bugs for quite some time now. I just wanted to add to Eric Piel's comment, as I too experienced this bug in a different situation, i.e. not after suspending my laptop. I have a Dell Vostro, with intel graphics. I sometimes use xset dpms force off to turn off my screen without locking it nor suspending. Although I cannot reproduce the bug at will, this is what I did: 1) Run xset dpms force off 2) Wait 10 minutes until the screen locks automatically 3) Type something on the keyboard to wake up the computer 4) Result: Screen turns on (the laptop was NOT suspended), but it is not blank, I can see my desktop, but the mouse/keyboard can't interact with it. The mouse changes to a cursor in the center of the screen, where the space to input the password should be. This is, hence, very similar in the result, as the mouse changes to a cursor, but the screen cannot be unlocked. (I did try to put my password to no avail). Hope this helps to tackle this down. Sorry if it isn't too clear, let me know if I should explain again anything. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 973163] Re: Xorg doesn't detect correct resolution of VGA Panasonic TV
I've encountered something similar to this bug with my Toshiba NB205 netbook, only it's affecting the screen on the netbook itself. It was working fine before, then after a recent update, the display won't, well...display at the correct resolution (1024x600). Trying to force that resolution through xrandr gives... well, a picture of the netbook's monitor after forcing 1024x600 as the resolution is attacthed. ** Attachment added: Photo07270213.jpg https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/973163/+attachment/3238061/+files/Photo07270213.jpg -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/973163 Title: Xorg doesn't detect correct resolution of VGA Panasonic TV To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/973163/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1029865] [NEW] Intel HD graphics: Starts always with 1024x768 resolution on a 1920x1080 monitor (HDMI and DisplayPort)
Public bug reported: I have a new Intel DZ77BH-55K motherboard with an i5-2400 processor with on-chip HD graphics. The motherboard has one HDMI and one DisplayPort output. For testing reasons and on the search to solve the problem I have connected both outputs to my EIZO EV2333W 23-inch 1920x1080 (16:9) monitor (HDMI to DVI via adapter, DisplayPort to DisplayPort), but I have the same problem when the DisplayPort cable is not connected. The problem is that if the computer boots up and shows the login screen the login screen appears with 1024x768 resolution and not with the monitor's native 1920x1080. The driver is actually the intel driver (no fallback to VESA). After login I can correct thedisplay to 1920x1080 with the Displays section of the System Settings and this persists when I log out an log in again, only the login screen and the desktop of every new user stays 1024x768. The problem seems that there are more than the two (HDMI and DisplayPort) displays reported by the driver, according to the xrandr output. Especially there is a VGA1 display always considered as connected and with max resolution of 1024x768. This seems to somehow determine the default resolution, probably because the standard multi- monitor mode is mirroring and due to the VGA1 ghost display also a system with one monitor and one monitor cable is already in multi- monitor mode. Confirm same issue with Dell Inspiron N5110 -- Core i7 Sand Bridge Mobile. Xubuntu 12.04. Tried all kernels from 3.2 through 3.5rc1. Same issue. Rebuilt all Intel drivers from git source -- same issue. NOT using Compiz KERNEL panics from iwlwifi/mac80211 fixed after recompiling. NOT using Gnome or Gnome Shell or unity. Using Bumblebee for Optimus graphics. libva vaapi working beautifully. vdpau not working? [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1029882] [NEW] Intel HD graphics: Mouse is not running smoothly
The problem is that when I move the mouse, the cursor does not go smoothly with the movement. It goes in little jumps, as if there are small time windows (1 or 2 per second) where the mouse cursor is not updated. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1017045] Re: Xorg crashed with SIGABRT in raise() - 12.04 on amd64
Same here, 5th freeze only this day. It was starting when I have changed my machine to a Lenovo T530, by swapping disk containing a Precise install. It is not just quite annoying, it makes work nearly impossible. I have switched from compiz to classic gnome with no effects, with no effect. Freezes are still haunting me. A hint: in at least some cases the hang have occured when I expected a new window to appear. In one time the window have actually appeared but it remained grey for the end of time. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 985202] Re: libx11 causes kwin to crash on login (over NX protocol)
I just did another fresh full reinstall and used the latest nomachine server/client/node, but as already reported here it still crashes, but this time it seems to recover. It also crashes on each attempt to resize the NX window as also reported here already. Another thing that I noticed is that KDE apps run MUCH slower than they used to do in 10.04. I have a direct comparison because I have two NX KDE sessions (one with a 10.04 host, one with a 12.04 host) side by side and the slowness in 12.04 is quite striking! Shouldn't xorg fallback to vesa mode if nouveau can't be used? I tried to boot on an old 10.04 LTS cdrom, and I can get a working desktop (at least the display ;-) ) in vesa mode with it! [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1030169] [NEW] X crashes multiple times every day for no apparent reason
Public bug reported: For about a week now, my screen has been freezing several times a day and has stopped taking keyboard or mouse input, forcing me to restart my system by hitting the power button. Normally when I hard reboot I have to hold the power button for several seconds, but in this case I just have to push it once briefly and the system goes down for reboot. Most of the time when it has happened I've been viewing photos using Shotwell, although it happens with other applications as well.
