[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 774938] Re: Erratic cursor movement when using Coordinate Transformation Matrix
I would like to second the above statements about the bug still being present in (L)Ubuntu 12.04 with Xorg-Server 2:1.11.4. I am using a eGalax Inc. USB TouchController like Jon Szymaniak. So I had a script calling xinput to set-props 'Evdev Axis Inversion' as well as 'Coordinate Transformation Matrix'. However, even without the axis inversion, the pointer erratically jumps around the location pressed. So it definitively seems to be an issue with applying the transformation matrix. Using the combined xinput set-props 'EvdevAxis Inversion' 1 0 and 'Option Calibration 105 1927 190 1857' in xorg.conf.d/99.conf however gives me a decently calibrated, working touch screen without the flickering pointer. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/774938 Title: Erratic cursor movement when using Coordinate Transformation Matrix To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/774938/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1032187] [NEW] Major OpenGL performance degradation over time
You have been subscribed to a public bug: I have a fully updated Ubuntu 12.04 x64 installation with Nvidia driver 302.17 enabled. The system contains an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 video card. The problem I notice is that hardware acceleration stops some while after log in. Immediately after reboot, GLXgears reports up to 3000 FPS. After a few minutes to hours, hardware acceleration stops, which is e.g. noticable by a sluggish response from the user interface. E.g. typing an e-mail becomes impossible, since the letters appear too slow on the screen. Re-running GLXgears in that case reports about 23 FPS. I noticed that the problem does not occur if I keep GLXgears running on the background. I can't find any unusual things in /var/log/xorg.0.log that give hints about what is happening during the occurance of the error. ** Affects: nvidia-graphics-drivers (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Incomplete ** Tags: 12.04 bot-comment nividia opengl ubuntu unity xorg -- Major OpenGL performance degradation over time https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1032187 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers in Ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1032187] Re: Major OpenGL performance degradation over time
I can confirm that the bug is also present in an older version of the nvidia-graphics-drivers, since I have used an older version in the past. I am pretty sure it was 295.40. I was hoping that the 302 drivers would have fixed it, but obviously they don't. I will try the nouveau drivers at a later moment. I also noticed something when I was testing all these different sessions. Usually the bug has appeared after some time of NOT using my pc. Can it be related to my monitor being switched off? It does not happen every time the monitor goes into standby (I can't reproduce it that easily), but it seems to be correlated. In the xorg.0.log I also see some lines like indicated below, that appear after monitor standby (repeats several times with different code): [251458.928] (II) NVIDIA(GPU-0): Display (Samsung SyncMaster (DFP-0)) does not support NVIDIA [251458.928] (II) NVIDIA(GPU-0): 3D Vision stereo. It looks like it was broken when they changed the driver to use libpciaccess to map memory regions instead of using the old xf86MapPciMem calls. There are two problems: - It tries to map the card's IO and iload regions twice, once for each head. libpciaccess doesn't like having two mappings for the same PCI region in the same device so it gives back EINVAL and this causes the breakage. I took out the check in pci_device_map_range in libpciaccess and this worked OK. - The new code maps the whole framebuffer into both heads because it uses region-base_addr and region-size instead of pMga-FBAddress and pMga-FbMapSize. This makes both displays draw onto a single monitor and it all looks very silly. I changed that in the mga driver and it works fine now. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1033452] Re: Security issue in NVIDIA UNIX device files to map and program registers to redirect the VGA window
This bug was fixed in the package nvidia-graphics-drivers-updates - 304.32-0ubuntu1 --- nvidia-graphics-drivers-updates (304.32-0ubuntu1) quantal; urgency=low * debian/control.in, debian/rules: - Switch from cdbs to debhelper. * New upstream release: - Fixed security issue that allowed an exploit to use NVIDIA UNIX device files to map and program registers to redirect the VGA window. Through the VGA window, the exploit could access any region of physical system memory. This arbitrary memory access could then be further exploited, for example, to escalate user privileges (LP: #1033452). - Added support for xserver ABI 13 (xorg-server 1.13). - Fixed a bug that caused RRSetOutputPrimary requests to incorrectly generate BadValue errors when setting the primary output to None. This caused gnome-settings-daemon to crash after changing the screen configuration in response to a display hotplug or the display change hot-key being pressed. - Fixed a problem where RENDER Glyphs operations would exhibit severe performance issues in certain cases, such as when used with gradients by Cairo and Chromium. - Fixed a bug that caused X to hang when resuming certain DisplayPort display devices (such as Apple brand mini-DisplayPort to dual-link DVI adapters) from power-saving mode. - Added support for the following GPU: Tesla K10 - Fixed a bug that caused an X screen to be extended to Quadro SDI Output devices by default. An X screen will still use an SDI Output device if it is the only display device available. To use a SDI Output device on an X screen with other display devices available, include the SDI Output device with either the UseDisplayDevice or MetaMode X configuration options. - Updated X11 modeline validation such that modes not defined in a display device's EDID are discarded if the EDID 1.3 GTF Supported flag is unset or if the EDID 1.4 Continuous Frequency flag is unset. The new AllowNonEdidModes token for the ModeValidation X configuration option can be used to disable this new check. - Fixed a bug, introduced in the 295.xx release series, with EDID detection on some laptop internal panels. This bug caused the laptop internal panel to show six small copies of the desktop. - Added support for FXAA, Fast Approximate Anti-Aliasing. -- Alberto Milone alberto.mil...@canonical.com Mon, 06 Aug 2012 12:04:20 +0200 ** Changed in: nvidia-graphics-drivers-updates (Ubuntu Quantal) Status: In Progress = Fix Released -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1033452 Title: Security issue in NVIDIA UNIX device files to map and program registers to redirect the VGA window To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers/+bug/1033452/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 956071] Re: Xorg crashed with SIGSEGV in XIGetDeviceProperty()
This seems to be simliar to the bug I have been following here: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/956071 Largely newer Thinkpads with Intel graphics. I have tested with the xorg edgers PPA and still had the issue. I can reproduce the crash by doing successive suspend / wake cycles. Usually crashes (kicks out to lightdm, that is) after 3, but sometimes the 4th wake from suspend. In this case (quick successive suspend / wake attempts by closing the lid), I can see when it crashes because the lenovo half moon light remains blinking after the lid is closed (should go solid after suspend achieved). I should note that in this above case when I open the lid I am already back at the lightdm login screen. Other real life crash times, the machine wakes up fine, but after approximately 30 seconds to a minute (while using the machine) it kicks me out to the lightdm screen (as others report here). The above bug report has a few full backtrace calls after one of the reporters heled us get our machines set up to do full reporting. There may be info there that can help here. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/956071 Title: Xorg crashed with SIGSEGV in XIGetDeviceProperty() To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/oem-priority/+bug/956071/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
