[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1084434] [NEW] [drm:i915_hangcheck_elapsed] *ERROR* Hangcheck timer elapsed... GPU hung
Public bug reported: I had a crash last Monday on Xubuntu 12.04.1 LTS. It happened after browsing with Firefox for some hours IIRC. I did a kernel update from linux-image-3.2.0-29-generic:amd64 to linux-image-3.2.0-33-generic:amd64 the previous Thursday, so it might have been introduced then. The mouse pointer was movable, everything else was still, clicking had no effect, keyboard had no effect (e.g. tried ctrl+alt+f1, I didn't know about alt+sysrq before now) The laptop is a Thinkpad X220 with a hardware switch to turn off and on all radio (wifi, bluetooth, 3G) so I tried that, it had no effect. Then I tried ssh-ing into the machine, and apparantly network-manager was still running and had managed to connect after I switched wifi off and on again. From within ssh everything seemed just fine. I tried killing firefox and restarting lightdm, this had no effect though (how does one restart X in Xubuntu?). I will collect more info if it happens again (saw https://help.ubuntu.com/community/DebuggingSystemCrash after I had rebooted), but for now I've pasted the relevant bits from /var/log/syslog* at http://pastebin.ubuntu.com/1393943/ (all the way down to where I hit the radio switch). Please let me know if there's any more info I can collect, I don't know how to provoke the bug though. $ apt-cache policy xorg xorg: Installert: 1:7.6+12ubuntu1 Kandidat: 1:7.6+12ubuntu1 Versjonstabell: *** 1:7.6+12ubuntu1 0 500 http://no.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ precise/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status ProblemType: Bug DistroRelease: Ubuntu 12.04 Package: xorg 1:7.6+12ubuntu1 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.2.0-33.52-generic 3.2.31 Uname: Linux 3.2.0-33-generic x86_64 ApportVersion: 2.0.1-0ubuntu15 Architecture: amd64 Date: Thu Nov 29 09:26:05 2012 InstallationMedia: Xubuntu 11.10 Oneiric Ocelot - Release amd64 (20111012) MarkForUpload: True ProcEnviron: LANGUAGE=nn:en TERM=screen PATH=(custom, user) LANG=nn_NO.UTF-8 SHELL=/bin/bash SourcePackage: xorg UpgradeStatus: Upgraded to precise on 2012-05-11 (201 days ago) ** Affects: xorg (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Tags: amd64 apport-bug precise -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1084434 Title: [drm:i915_hangcheck_elapsed] *ERROR* Hangcheck timer elapsed... [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1083790] Re: Connecting external monitor shows incorrect resolution on external screen and correct resolution on laptop screen
Is this a regression from 12.10? The modesetting code in the kernel got rewritten for 3.7, so testing with 3.5 from quantal might make it work. Also, try without the KVM box to see if it makes a difference. What happens if you run 'xrandr --auto' from a terminal after attaching the external screen? ** Package changed: xorg (Ubuntu) = xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1083790 Title: Connecting external monitor shows incorrect resolution on external screen and correct resolution on laptop screen To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/1083790/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1064192] Re: [update request] nvidia-173.14.36 adds support for xserver ABI 13 [quantal]
I tried the deb on Quantal as well and get the Not using GLX TFP -problem that nvidia won't fix. So unless gnome-shell gets fixed someday, that box will run in gnome fallback mode with bluetile. Might as well have stuck with VESA. I think gdm even ran a bit faster with it :) Good confirmation to why I never voluntarily take anything with anything by nvidia or Via inside. Yes, I've been running v2.20.14 from git (using SNA, not UXA) for a few days on Quantal and so far I hasn't seen that other bug I mentioned - it hasn't fatally locked up after the screensaver kicks in. However, it has experienced *this* particular bug a few times, ie where the screen locks but I can fix it by switching to a tty terminal and back. Re 2.6.99.902, I think I probably did a git tag command and looked at the last entry, which is definitely old. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 932900] Re: Unity freeze, crashes when trying to restart - GPU lockup with IPEHR: 0x7a000002
I do not know if it will help either, but replacing sna with uxa in /etc/X11/xorg.conf ( or creating a new file with these contents: Section Device Identifier intel Driver intel Option AccelMethod uxa EndSection ) will at least make gnome-shell / unity / ... run. The problem: graphics problems (transparency, smoothing, performance, ...). My graphics card is defined as Mobile Intel® 4 Series Express Chipset Family in Windows, as Mobile Intel® GM45 Express Chipset x86/MMX/SSE2 in the Settings and yells about i915 hangs in dmesg on boot-time when running with SNA. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1084575] [NEW] 12.04 window manager freezes during or soon after installation
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Apparently, the X drivers supplied with ubuntu 12.04 for a new installation have a bug that causes a window freeze during or soon after installation on a Dell Dimension 2400 having on-motherboard Intel video hardware. The problem could be reliably induced by almost any manipulation of Firefox, though other interactions also seemed to trigger the problem. Notably, the automatic screen saver appeared to cause a freeze 10 minutes into an initial pkg update, ultimately resulting in a broken install. The resolution was a driver update using ppa:ubuntu-x-swat before attempting any user interaction in X, by logging into the console ASAP with cntl-alt-F1. It seems these updates need to be incorporated into the 12.04 release iso image, and into the normal repository if not already there. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 993187] Re: ubuntu 12.04 completely freezes frequently.
NVidia GEForce 610M and additional integrated Intel video card. Intermittent hard freezes on Ubuntu and Mint - no traces as to why in any log file anywhere. Tried fresh install of 12.04 with different hard drive. Worked perfectly until I installed nvidia-stable drivers from Ubuntu repository - hard froze within minutes. Installed nouveau drivers and removed all traces of nvidia drivers. NOTE: I had to remove the nvidia drivers in order to make my system stable. Other posts had said that was not necessary - for me it was. One nouveau drivers were active. I issued the following: ~$ sudo apt-get --purge remove nvidia-common nvidia-current nvidia-settings ~$ sudo apt-get install ubuntu-desktop ubuntu-desktop was a dependency of nvidia-common and therefore removed with the purge - that's why the install of ubuntu-desktop afterwards. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 967091] Re: Wrong tint in flash when it uses video acceleration
Hello Aloysius, or anyone else affected, Accepted apparmor into precise-proposed. The package will build now and be available at http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apparmor/2.7.102-0ubuntu3.5 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed repository. Please help us by testing this new package. See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update out to other Ubuntu users. If this package fixes the bug for you, please change the bug tag from verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not, change the tag to verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing will help us make a better decision. Further information regarding the verification process can be found at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Maarten thanks for the response re the two missing changes. This bug affects me too, with the Atmel maXTouch Digitizer touchscreen on the new Samsung XE700T1C (aka ATIV Smart PC Pro). After a while of touching the screen it gets locked and I'm no longer able to touch anything... the touch events appear to get accumulated and only released when another device clicks. For example, if I'm using OnBoard (onscreen keyboard) to type into the Dash or a document, and I touch a bunch of keys nothing happens, but as soon as I click with my mouse or wacom pen, all the characters I had previously been touching are suddenly spat out into whatever text box I was in. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-evdev in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/946417 Title: Cando Touchscreen buggy since Precise - After the first few successful clicks on the touchscreen, new clicks are not registered anymore. Running xinput list-props shows that these properties are indeed set for the Atmel touchscreen device. However, when I touch and hold my finger in the same spot on the screen, nothing happens!
