[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1081108] Re: Xorg crash after clicking on workspace in inkscape
Copypaste from wrong, old bug report (2012-12-03): last week (28th November) I was using inkscape without problems. I tried to downgrade all ubuntu packages that were upgraded last week, but without success. Now it does not work at all. My workaround is to use inkscape through VNC. Moreover, it seems not to be nvidia driver specific, but appears with nouveau drivers as well. xserver-xorg-video-nouveau version 1.0.2-0ubuntu3, Ubuntu 12.10. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1081108 Title: Xorg crash after clicking on workspace in inkscape To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/1081108/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 532047] Re: Plymouth text-mode splash causes X to crash on first run due to shared tty7
I have this problem with a Toshiba Portegé Z930 and Ubuntu 12.04. But I get instead a black screen with a mouse cursor and a console cursor blinking. After pressing 2 or ENTER, lightdm starts again. I leave a tail -f /var/log/Xorg.0.log on the tty1 before pressing 2 or ENTER, and then I press it, and I can see the crash log. I'm attaching it. #105 workaround does NOT fix the problem for me. Removing the /etc/init /plymount-splash.conf does, however. ** Attachment added: Black screen before pressing ENTER - Toshiba Portegé Z930 https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/plymouth/+bug/532047/+attachment/3453842/+files/2012-12-05%2018.15.59.jpg -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/532047 Title: Plymouth text-mode splash causes X to crash on first run due to shared tty7 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/xorg-server/+bug/532047/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1068404] Re: Low graphics mode in Hybrid ATI/Intel GPU systems after fglrx upgrade
The fix that has been merged into fglrx is still incomplete in regards to 32 bit compatibility on a 64 bit host OS. If you want to run old games like Counter Strike 1.6 on the Intel GPU, you can't. That's because of 2 reasons: 1) The path to #OTHER_ARCH# DRI libs is missing (/usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/dri) 2) When doing: amdconfig --px-igpu cat /etc/ld.so.conf.d/x86_64-linux-gnu_GL.conf it shows that ldconfig should count in /usr/i386-linux-gnu/mesa as a valuable path for libraries, but this path does not exist. Instead, this path should be used: /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/mesa/ Symlinking the wrong path to the right one by hand is a nice hack, but it's a hack. I'm a little disturbed that nobody ever noticed this mistake. Maybe I'm the only one who likes to play old games on the IGPU. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to the bug report. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1068404 Title: Low graphics mode in Hybrid ATI/Intel GPU systems after fglrx upgrade To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/1068404/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1084938] Re: evdev settings doesn't work at all
The problem with the coordinate transform matrix not working is solved by this patch: http://patchwork.freedesktop.org/patch/12471/ These touchscreens sometimes only send one axis if the other axis hasn't changed. The server would take the new untransformed X axis sent by the screen and the saved, *post-transform*, value of the Y axis, and then apply the transform to that. The patch fixes it to take the new X axis and a saved pre-tranform Y axis and transform that. I can also confirm that emulate third button appears to be totally non- functional with an atmel touchscreen. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-evdev in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1084938 Title: evdev settings doesn't work at all To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-evdev/+bug/1084938/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1087794] [NEW] Synaptics touchpad registers single finger touches as multitouch
You have been subscribed to a public bug: I am using an HP Mini 311. This is a new issue that did not occur in 12.04. The touchpad is now recognized as a synaptics device, after only being recognized as a USB mouse in 12.04. Seemingly randomly, after a resume from suspend, the touchpad appears to be unresponsive. Only with a high pressure will the mouse cursor move. This generally means using the pad of my finger rather than the tip. Occasionally this will continue after a reboot, but usually rebooting fixes it. After examining synclient, it appears that what is happening is that normal single finger touches on the pad are being recognized as two or even three finger touches. I've attached a file from synclient both while the touchpad was working and when it was not. None of the synaptics settings have changed from one to the other, so the issue probably doesn't lie there. Please let me know if there is some other information that would be helpful. ** Affects: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Synaptics touchpad registers single finger touches as multitouch https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1087794 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-synaptics in Ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1086463] Re: Boot Info Script 0.61.full + Boot-Repair extra info [Boot-Info November 20th 2012]
Thank you for using Ubuntu and taking the time to report a bug. Your report should contain, at a minimum, the following information so we can better find the source of the bug and work to resolve it. Submitting the bug about the proper source package is essential. For help see https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage . Additionally, in the report please include: 1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'cat /etc/lsb-release' or System - About Ubuntu. 2) The version of the package you are using, via 'dpkg -l PKGNAME | cat' or by checking in Synaptic. 3) What happened and what you expected to happen. The Ubuntu community has also created debugging procedures for a wide variety of packages at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures . Following the debugging instructions for the affected package will make your bug report much more complete. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1084938] Re: evdev settings doesn't work at all
Upon looking at the code in evdev, it's clear the third button emulation is completely non-functional for multitouch devices. The emulation is triggered by calling Evdev3BEmuFilterEvent() from EvdevPostQueuedEvents() in evdev.c. This is done for events of type EV_QUEUE_BTN only. With a multitouch touchscreen, events of this type aren't generated. Instead, the events are EV_QUEUE_TOUCH, which will never trigger the 3BEmu code. These touch events don't work the same way as button events, so it's not a simple matter of passing them to Evdev3BEmuFilterEvent() too.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1085262] Re: whole computer freezes and logs out (see attached picture)
I switched my graphics card to this ( http://pastebin.ubuntu.com/1417862/ ) and it seems to have solved my problem. I believe that the problem was in that my old Graphics Card didn't have the proper driver (or something like that). Hope this helps. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1085262 Title: whole computer freezes and logs out (see attached picture) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1085262/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 993187] Re: ubuntu 12.04 completely freezes frequently.
FYI, this bug is for hard system Crash only!. You can't do anything with the system other than reboots (actually in my case, it will reboot itself in about 20 seconds). No Ctrl-Alt-F1, no SSH, nothing) And Yes... still happening.. Just crashed again.. Seems pretty random. Can't see usefull logs either. So is this ubuntu thing or kernel thing? I can't believe we still can't figure that out even after 568 comments here. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/993187 Title: ubuntu 12.04 completely freezes frequently. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 353126] Re: Compiz / vnc screen refresh with nvidia-restricted driver/VirtualBox/ATI fglrx driver using X.org
I have discovered a useful workaround: Splashtop. It is a much more functional remote desktop solution than VNC or Vino. It has sound. You can play 3D games over it and even Second Life works beautifully. And it's available in the Ubuntu Software Center for free. This really should be the default remote desktop. It blows Microsoft's Remote Desktop away. If you need a desktop client it's under other products on the Splashtop App download page. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/353126 Title: Compiz / vnc screen refresh with nvidia-restricted driver/VirtualBox/ATI fglrx driver using X.org To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/fglrx/+bug/353126/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
