[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 980519] Re: Random log off in Ubuntu 12.04 LTS
Looks like this bug is affecting me as well. Like may others, I am also running 12.04.1 + nvidia, with 310.14 proprietary drivers and 3.2.0-34.53 kernel. But I am experiencing it under Gnome Classic. From my recent observations, it ALWAYS happens in the same way: * always on startup (I log in automatically) * and after pressing ENTER in a application, be it Google Chrome (the address field, or search field in gmail) or Gnome Terminal. It looks like the trigger is always the ENTER key. I key in a URL, or a command in the terminal and press ENTER, and then it happens, always. After logging in again, the problem disappears. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/980519 Title: Random log off in Ubuntu 12.04 LTS To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/unity/+bug/980519/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Last day I was halt asleep and I didn't read the line where you request me a new backtrace and Xorg logs. I have just attached them, I don't see anything strange in the Xorg logs, and I hope the quassel backtrace to be useful. If you think I need to install more debugging symbols to have a better backtrace, please, tell me. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 993187] Re: ubuntu 12.04 completely freezes frequently.
@Kayvan: great write-up. Thanks. But the problem is broader than intel with on-board CPU. It happens on Intel-nVidia CPU as well, which is my set-up: a Core2Duo with an nVidia 8400M. I does not at all happen on Oneiric 11.10, which I went back to. It starts from 12.04 and continues into 12.10. It does not necessarily happen with intensive use. I had it while just browsing the web - although the web can be intensive use as well on some sites, which load up lots of flash ads and things. Both on Firefox and on Chrome / Chromium. I did notice that when scrolling up and down a page, the screens blinks (i.e. goes to black and back up) for some milliseconds. Sometimes the PC passes / recovers from such a blink, sometimes it results in this lock- up. To make sure: it _is_ a complete system lock-up I have: no mouse, no keyboard, no TTY, no log-entries. Hard-reset is the only option. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/993187 Title: ubuntu 12.04 completely freezes frequently. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1043513] Re: Xorg crashed with SIGABRT in memcpy() via cirRefreshArea() under KVM virtual machine
Hi Maarten, That patch isn't happy; but I'm not sure why yet; I've attached three screen captures: 1) The version with the ubuntu built package - which shows the strange crosshatching from bug 1080674 2) myversion.png - the version with my patch, looks the same as (1) but doesn't crash when I move around my virtual desktops 3) lankhostversion.png (sorry - I typo'd your name !) - the version with your patch applied to a clean 1:1.5.1-0ubuntu2 built on raring. So erm; that's odd; your version is very broken somehow (and also doesn't update as I type properly I think). (Although it does fix bug 1080674 which I couldn't complain about!) I can't immediately see a problem in your code; maybe the specialised versions need the min/max/x/y swapping if pCir-rotate is set? As for mine being over engineered, obviously there is some personal preference in there; but I was working on the basis if it was needed in all 4 versions then a function was a better bet, and shortClip v MIN/MAX, I tend to prefer functions and anyway the compiler should do what it thinks is best; but as I say that's personal preference. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1090811] Re: [xorg-edgers] x11-apps package fails to install
yep x11-apps needs a conflicts/replace with transset and it'll need to be SRUed to quantal and uploaded to raring. I'll fix it up in debian. you can remove the transset package to work around it in the meantime. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to x11-apps in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1090811 Title: [xorg-edgers] x11-apps package fails to install To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/x11-apps/+bug/1090811/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 418470] Re: USB Gamepad detected as mouse (Speedlink 360 style)
O.K. The following code when executed delinks the mouse pointer from joystick movements. The sequence: 1)open a terminal, 2)enter the script file on the cmd line, 3)plug in the rc-controller(see the mouse move to left), 4)with some skill get the uncooperative mouse cursor to pass over the terminal screen and click on it to make it active, 5)hit return to execute the script. And voilla, the cursor returns to normal behavior. Code: #!/bin/bash #file: script_rccontroller.sh #use to disable mouse emulation from controller sticks(joysticks) #get NAME for controller from xinput list NAME='WAILLY PPM' ids=$(xinput list | grep $NAME | grep -o -e id=.. | xargs | sed s/id=//g) for id in $ids; do echo Disabling Mouse/Key events for ID $id xinput set-prop $id Generate Mouse Events 0 xinput set-prop $id Generate Key Events 0 done But even tho the code works, I get the two error msgs: property Generate Mouse Events doesn't exist, you need to specify its type and format property Generate Key Events doesn't exist, you need to specify its type and format Can anyone suggest the syntax to eliminate these error msgs. And again, please refer to the link (item 36) in my 1st post to see what I am trying to adapt for my use. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-evdev in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/418470 Title: USB Gamepad detected as mouse (Speedlink 360 style) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-evdev/+bug/418470/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 847484] Re: quassel crashed with SIGSEGV in _IO_vfprintf_internal()
I know the cause and have a fix pending, thanks for the information. It has to do with how QWidget's setfullscreen behaves with regards to KDE's toggle action system. Quassel currently does not follow the KDE fullscreen toggle actions documentation in that one should use its functions to turn on/off fullscreen rather than the regular QWidget ones as the latter include additional changes that are unrelated and more importantly will cause syncness issues. ** Changed in: quassel (Ubuntu) Importance: Medium = Low ** Changed in: quassel (Ubuntu) Status: New = In Progress ** Changed in: quassel (Ubuntu) Assignee: (unassigned) = Harald Sitter (apachelogger) ** No longer affects: xorg-server (Ubuntu) -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/847484 Title: quassel crashed with SIGSEGV in _IO_vfprintf_internal() To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/quassel/+bug/847484/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 418470] Re: USB Gamepad detected as mouse (Speedlink 360 style)
Mark, I had the same error messages, they are generated because there are two id's that match joystick's name. I don't know which one of the two is actually for controlling the joystick events, so I set properties for both. The errors are for second id. If you are bothered with the messages, you could change xinput set lines to: xinput set-prop $id Generate Mouse Events 0 2/dev/null xinput set-prop $id Generate Key Events 0 2/dev/null (it maybe needs to be 1/dev/null, I'm not sure) And, to be free of mouse acrobatics, go to keyboard preferences/shortcuts/custom shortcuts and create keyboard shortcut for activating your script (for example, ctrl+alt+j should be free for use). This way, you'll never see any output, not even the error messages...
