[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1074779] Re: llvmpipe used after clean install instead of intel
Finally resolved this issue, at least for my purposes. Folks on the thread were correct that there was a driver issue but I could not figure out how to get the intel drivers to load even though they were installed. The problem was that I had set GRUB to nomodeset to resolve an earlier issue (when I installed Ubuntu 12.04 LTS there was a problem with the drivers resulting in a blank screen). This must have been preventing the correct drivers from loading. I tried to restore GRUB but it kept stalling on boot. I ended up replacing Ubuntu 12.04 with LUbuntu 12.10. Now everything is running smoothly. Videos on XBMC are running the CPU about 10% and everything looks a lot better (I had to set resolution to 720p previously). However, this may not address the underlying driver issue with Ubuntu 12.04 LTS. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1074779 Title: llvmpipe used after clean install instead of intel To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/linuxmint/+bug/1074779/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1112695] [NEW] Hybrid Intel/AMD has low graphics mode when using discrete GPU
Public bug reported: I've been trying to get hybrid graphics working on my Dell Inspirion 15R and I get the low graphics mode when starting up. This is on Raring. I have tried fglrx fglrx-updates from the restricted archive, AMD sources, and the fglrx-updates found in ppa:andrikos/ppa and all fail the way. The X server seg faults every time (see attached Xorg log). I have also tried the workaround at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BinaryDriverHowto/ATI#WORKAROUND. I even downgraded the xserver-xorg-video-intel package to the one found in ppa:andrikos/ppa. I will also add the info from apport-collect to this bug. --- .tmp.unity.support.test.1: ApportVersion: 2.8-0ubuntu4 Architecture: amd64 CompizPlugins: No value set for `/apps/compiz-1/general/screen0/options/active_plugins' CompositorRunning: compiz DistUpgraded: 2013-01-04 15:43:42,670 DEBUG enabling apt cron job DistroCodename: raring DistroRelease: Ubuntu 13.04 DistroVariant: ubuntu DkmsStatus: vboxhost, 4.2.6, 3.8.0-0-generic, x86_64: installed vboxhost, 4.2.6, 3.8.0-2-generic, x86_64: installed vboxhost, 4.2.6, 3.8.0-3-generic, x86_64: installed GraphicsCard: Intel Corporation 2nd Generation Core Processor Family Integrated Graphics Controller [8086:0116] (rev 07) (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: Dell Device [1028:04ca] Advanced Micro Devices [AMD] nee ATI Caicos [Radeon HD 6400M/7400M Series] [1002:6760] (prog-if 00 [VGA controller]) Subsystem: Dell Device [1028:04ca] InstallationDate: Installed on 2012-11-13 (79 days ago) InstallationMedia: Ubuntu 12.10 Quantal Quetzal - Release amd64 (20121017.5) MachineType: Dell Inc. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1072531] Re: [regression] X11 screen blanking after 10 minutes with no UI to change it
This is a real usability issue. I have a Mac Pro running two Ubuntu VMs and I never want them to activate screensavers/sleep mode/locked screen --the Mac Pro has its own power-saving features. The 12.04 VM works correctly, but the 12.10 has no easy option to stop the screen from turning black. I found a fix here: http://askubuntu.com/questions/207131/screensaver- blanking-problem The accepted answer worked for me -- setting idle-dim-time to 0 is my guess at what fixes things, but I also have the screensaver disabled thanks to an answer below it. Ideally the setting for this would be configurable through the System Settings application so that people don't have to know about dconf. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1106037] [NEW] Reverse mouse wheel direction in almost apps is invalid.
You have been subscribed to a public bug: I need the reverse mouse wheel direction (It means natural scrolling like Mac OS X and the touch Pad and so on.), because I have a touch scroll mouse. I found that this method can achieve some of my thoughts. I use .Xmodmap and I can ! Note that 4 5 and 6 7 are reversed to behave like a table. # ubuntu-tweak also have this feature setting and do like this xinput set-button-map 12 1 2 3 5 4 7 6 8 9 10 11 12 So I found this method can be make the browsers(firefox,Chrome..) use natural scrolling ,this is exactly what I want. but, then found in other almost apps(nautilus,system-settings, ubuntu- software-center, and so on) still the original scrolling direction , that apps don't appears natural scrolling. I have three question need to solve: Why the xinput settings can be valid in the browser apps ,but be invalid in others apps ??? How to solve that can use reverse mouse direction (natural scrolling) in any where ??? Why this feature not in Ubuntu system's self settings ??? - OS: Ubuntu 12.10 64bit desktop (default installation) computer: Thinkpad E42, i5 cpu, 4G RAM, Ati HD6600M ** Affects: xorg (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: Incomplete -- Reverse mouse wheel direction in almost apps is invalid. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1106037 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

You have been subscribed to a public bug: While running nomachine's nx server on Ubuntu 12.10, and connecting to it via OpenNX client for Mac OS 10.8.2 (Mountain Lion), upon getting the initial window load, I have a pop-up immediately come up saying, Error activating XKB configuration. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1112859] [NEW] Optoma HD20 projector recognized but no HDMI signal
Public bug reported: Synopsis: I get No Signal and an otherwise blank screen when connecting my Dell XPS 14 Ultrabook running 12.10 to Optoma HD20 projectors (we have two). The projector is recognized as connected. This laptop correctly displays on at least 5 other models of external monitors and projectors over HDMI without issue. Several Macs are known to work fine with these projectors. Hardware Details: The laptop is a Dell XPS Ultrabook (L421X) running 12.10. This laptop has Intel 4000 and NVIDIA 630M graphics, and lsmod shows nouveau and i915 drivers loaded. This model has both HDMI and mini DisplayPort; results are identical for HDMI and the mini DP port (with miniDP-HDMI adapter). The projector is the Optoma HD20. This projector has two HDMI inputs and native 1920x1600 projection. We have two of them, and all behaviors described here are identical for both of them. snafu$ lsb_release -rd Description:Ubuntu 12.10 Release:12.10 snafu$ apt-cache policy xorg xorg: Installed: 1:7.7+1ubuntu4 Candidate: 1:7.7+1ubuntu4 Version table: *** 1:7.7+1ubuntu4 0 500 http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ quantal/main amd64 Packages 100 /var/lib/dpkg/status What I've tried: When I plug the projector into my laptop, the projector is recognized quickly as OTM 72 in Settings Displays, but the projector declares No Signal and has blank display. (Is OTM 72 right?) Xorg.0.log shows frame buffer allocations that seem sensible based on laptop and selected projector resolutions. Clicking Apply leads to the 30s timeout dialog in which the laptop display is fine (i.e., not garbled) but the projector says no signal. Both projectors work fine with Macs. I have tried multiple cable and cable lengths. I have tried multiple resolutions, with and without mirroring. http://harts.net/reece/tmp/optoma-hd20.edid-decode contains the edid info generated by edid-decode /sys/devices/pci\:00/\:00\:02.0/drm/card0/card0-HDMI-A-1/edid . 12.04.1 LTS behaves similarly. Rebooting with the projector connected has the same effect. I've tried the xrandr and gtf suggestions at http://askubuntu.com/questions/216075/no-hdmi-output-on-12-10-intel-hd- graphics-ironlake/249593#249593 without success. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1112871] Re: [clarkdale] False GPU lockup IPEHR: 0x02000000
Are you able to reliably reproduce it by playing that video in totem? If not, out of 10 tries how many times does it happen? If you can repro it with that video (or another similar video), please attach to this bug or provide a pointer to an online source. Has your system had other similar freezes recently, unrelated to video playback? Bug 946899 just describes the symptoms of a GPU hang, but they can be caused by any number of underlying reasons so we treat each instance as a distinct bug unless the i915_error_state matches or upstream says it's a dupe. ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-intel (Ubuntu) Status: New = Incomplete ** Summary changed: - [clarkdale] False GPU lockup IPEHR: 0x0200 + [clarkdale] GPU lockup IPEHR: 0x0200 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1112871 Title: [clarkdale] GPU lockup IPEHR: 0x0200 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/1112871/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
